The electron density distribution of certain coordination compounds can be estimated from polarographic data by means of the method of small constitution-variations.In chromium complexes with sandwich structure, the highest occupied orbital is a molecular orbital being preponderantly localized at the chromium atom.

Aus den polarographischen Daten ist es möglich, die Verteilung der Elektronendichte bestimmter Komplexe mit Hilfe der Methode kleiner Konstitutionsveränderungen abzuschätzen. Das Studium der Aromatenkomplexe des Chroms zeigte, daß das höchste besetzte Orbital ein Molekülorbital ist, dessen überwiegender Teil am Chromatom lokalisiert ist.
