    Description / Table of Contents: Die Leitfähigkeit und die Gefrierpunktserniedrigung einer Reihe von Lösungen wurde bestimmt, die eine gegebene Menge Borsäure und wechselnde Mengen von Magnesiumborat enthalten. Die Meßwerte deuten auf das Vorliegen folgender drei Verbindungen hin: MgO · 4 B2O3 · 9 H2O, MgO · 3 B2O3 · 6 H2O und 2 MgO · 3 B2O3 · 3 H2O. Quantitative Analysen der ausgefallenen Verbindungen bestätigen diese Formeln. Magnesiummetaborate bilden mit verschiedenen Ammoniumsalzen lösliche Komplexe.
    Notes: Conductivity and depression in freezing point of a series of solutions containing a fixed amount of boric acid and varying quantities of magnesium borate have been determined. The values obtained indicate the formation of -three possible compounds: MgO · 4 B2O3 · 9 H2O, MgO · 3 B2O3 · 6 H2O and 2 MgO · 3 B2O3 · 3 H2O. The results have been confirmed by quantitative estimation of magnesium and B2O3 in the precipitates obtained from solutions corresponding to the above mentioned complexes.It has also been observed that magnesium metaborate forms soluble complexes with a number of ammonium salts, the detailed results of which will be communicated later.
