Aus Dimethylformamiddimethylacetal (3) und Phosphorigsäuredialkylestern bzw. sek. Phosphinoxiden sind Bis-phosphono- bzw. -phosphinyldimethyl-amino-methane (8 bzw. 14) zugänglich. 8 entsteht auch aus Phosphorigsäure-trialkylestern und Dimethylformamid-dichlorid. Bei der Reaktion von Phosphorigsäuredialkylestern mit Dimethylformamid-dithioacetalen sind α-di-substituierte Phosphonsäureester zugänglich, die sich entweder in 8 oder in Phosphinyl-phosphonsäureester umwandeln lassen.
