Anders als die einfachen C10-Monoterpene zeigen einige der neuen tetramethylierten Derivate Holz-Ambra-Geruch.
Notes:
A practical preparation of TM-α-terpineol (4), cis-TM-β-terpineol (6c), trans-TM-β-terpineol (6t), TM-Δ1,7,Δ8-menthadiene (7), its spirocyclic epoxide (5), and TM-isocryptone (8) is described (TM = tetramethyl). Some of the new tetramethylated monoterpenes, unlike the simple C10-monoterpenes, have a woody-ambergis-like odour.
