The reaction of benzenehexamine (1), benzene-1,2,3,4-tetramine (4), and benzene-1,2,4,5-tetramine (6) with aryl isocyanate 2 afforded the corresponding hexakis(N'-arylureido)benzene 3 and the tetrakis(N'-arylureido)benzenes 5 and 7. Pyrolysis of 3, 5, and 7 at 400°C furnished the benzo-triimidazoletrione 8 and benzo-biimidazolediones 10 and 11.
