The Structure of„Diformazyl“: 5-[Bis(phenylazo)methylene]-1,3-diphenyltetrazoline Betaine„Diformazyl“, which has been formulated as biformazane 1, is shown to be 5-[bis(phenylazo)methylene]-1,3-diphenyltetrazoline betaine (6a) based on the X-ray structure analysis of the hydrochloride and on degradation reactions of the base. The formation of 6a is studied in detail.

Das als Biformazan 1 formulierte „Diformazyl“ erweist sich nach Röntgenstrukturanalyse des Hydrochlorids und nach Abbaureaktionen der Base als 5-[Bis(phenylazo)methylen]-1,3-diphenyltetrazolin-Betain (6a). Die Bildungsweise von 6a wird näher untersucht.
