    Description / Table of Contents: The Tetraphenylhydrazine Radical CationIn acidic medium tetraphenylhydrazine yields either the tetraphenylhydrazine radical cation 51-6) or the N.N.N′-triphenyl-p-phenylenediamine radical cation 10, depending on the reaction conditions. It was possible to analyze the complex e.s.r. spectrum of 5 by comparising it with the e.s.r. spectra of the derivatives 6 and 8. This analysis showed a non-equivalence of the o-protons due to a hindered rotation of the aryl groups. N.m.r. studies of the hydrazines 1-4 showed that only 4 exhibits a hindered rotation of the aryl groups.
    Notes: Tetraphenylhydrazin bildet in saurer Lösung abhängig von den Reaktionsbedingungen das Tetraphenylhydrazin-Radikalkation 51-6) oder das N.N.N′-Triphenyl-p-phenylendiamin-Radikalkation 10. Das komplexe ESR-Spektrum von 5 ließ sich durch Vergleich mit den ESR-Daten der Derivate 6 und 8 analysieren. Die Analyse ergab eine Nichtäquivalenz der o-Protonen, die durch eine behinderte Rotation der Arylreste verursacht wird. Bei den Hydrazinen 1-4 wurde nur bei 4 eine behinderte Rotation der Arylreste im NMR gefunden.
