Amino-benzoxazolone werden durch Reduktion von Nitro-benzoxazolonen, Hydroxy-benzoxazolone durch Erhitzen von Amino-dihydroxy-benzol-hydrochloriden mit Harnstoff dargestellt. 5-, 6- und 7-Amino-benzoxazolon ergeben bei der Umsetzung mit Diazomethan und Acetanhydrid nur Derivate der Lactam-Form (3-Methyl-amino- bzw. 3-Acetyl-acetamino-benzoxazolone). Das 4-Amino-benzoxazolon bildet beim Methylieren nur ein Derivat der Lactim-Form (2-Methoxy-4-amino-benzoxazol), beim Acetylieren die Acetate beider Formen (3-Acetyl-4-acetamino-benzoxazolon und 2-Acetoxy-4-acetamino-benzoxazol). Sämtliche Hydroxy-benzoxazolone liefern beim Methylieren und Acetylieren nur Derivate der Lactam-Form (3-Methyl-methoxy- bzw. 3-Acetyl-acetoxybenzoxazolone). Die Amino- und Hydroxy-benzoxazolone werden auf anti-mykotische Wirksamkeit ausgetestet.
