On the Economic Situation of CompositesSome million tons of composites are yearly produced and sold in the Federal Republic of Germany and Western Europe, respectively. This shows that this type of material, often called a newcomer, has since long taken its place in production and in the market. While the sale of metallic and non-metallic materials has declined recently, composites will find an expanded field of interest under the aspects of raw materials and energy saving, reliability, and performance and will thus further increase their market share.

Mehrere Millionen Tonnen Verbundwerkstoffe werden pro Jahr in der BR Deutschland bzw. In Westeuropa produziert und verkauft. Das beweist, daß diese Werkstoffklasse, die oft als Newcomer bezeichnet wird, sich, während der Umsatz bei metallischen und nichtmetallischen Werkstoffen in der letzten Zeit zurückgegangen ist, die Verbundwerkstoffe unter den Gesichtspunkten Rohstoffeinsparung, Energieeinsparung, Zuverlässigkeit und Leistungsfähigkeit in Zukunft ein erweitertes Feld von Interesse vorfinden und damit ihren Marktanteil weiter ausbauen können werden.
