VI of the \xe2\x80\x9eNotes from the Leyden Museum\xe2\x80\x9d (p. 200) the observation that Bombus senex Voll. \xc2\xb9) ought to be regarded as a variety of Bombus rufipes Lep.\nIn 1888 Handlirsch \xc2\xb2) doubted of the correctness of this statement in the following sentence: \xe2\x80\x9eBass Vollenhoven\xe2\x80\x99s Bombus senex mit rufipes Lep. identisch ist, wie Ritsema behauptet, erscheint mir nicht wahrscheinlieh; eine Uebereinstimmung herrscht nur in der Beinfarbe.\xe2\x80\x9d
