Political Memoirs of the Chairman of the Pan-German League (1915-1933/36)«: The edition of the memoirs of Heinrich Claß, chairman of the Pan-German League, discloses the networks of the so-called »national opposition« in Germany, which propagated ordering concepts of a völkisch civil-military dictatorship. After WWI, Austria also caught Claß´ attention as an additional playground for mobilization and political activism. Cooperation with the NSDAP furthered unmissable competition over leadership of Weimar´s Right. The failure of the DNVP to enclose the National Socialists in their bid for power only concluded the transition of the Pan-German League as the most influential pressure group of the radical bourgeois Right from Imperial Germany to an interest group of outdated notables in the Weimar Republic.

Die kritische Edition der Erinnerungen von Heinrich Claß erschließt für den Vorsitzenden des Alldeutschen Verbandes die autobiographischen Erzählungen über die eng verflochtenen Netzwerke des radikalnationalistischen Milieus der »nationalen Opposition«, das sich mit Ordnungskonzepten einer völkischen zivil-militärischen Diktatur folgenreich über die politische und soziale Zukunft Deutschlands, und nach 1918 auch für Österreich, verständigte. Die detailreichen autobiographischen Schilderungen legen auch Strukturen der Mobilisierungspolitik des Alldeutschen Verbandes frei, der sich im Übergang von der wichtigsten Interessenorganisation des »alten« bildungsbürgerlichen Radikalnationalismus des Kaiserreichs zum Honoratiorenverband in der Weimarer Republik entwickelte. Ein zusätzlicher Anhang von 1936 beschreibt die sich trotz taktischer Kooperationen seit 1929 unübersehbar entwickelnden Konkurrenzen zwischen der auf einem Legalitätskurs zur Massenorganisation aufstrebenden NSDAP und der von Claß ab 1926 unterstützten DNVP um die Macht über das Führungszentrum der Weimarer Rechten auf dem Weg zur Diktatur.
