Notizen: Recently derived expressions [Giacovazzo (1975). Acta Cryst. A31, 252-259] for the reliability of quartets have been tested. For the negative quartets (NQ's) the new expressions lead to an improvement compared with the empirical estimates of the NQ reliability used so far. However, the reliability of all quartets can be better estimated by means of the weights of the empirically derived strengthened quartet relation (SQR).
