The visible radiation emission occuring on adsorption of oxygen on evacuated, doped zinc oxide surfaces has been investigated. According to the wave length and the temperature dependence of the emitted light and also the dependence on the doping, this luminescence effect may be assigned to the solid state luminescence of zinc oxide.

Es wird die bei Adsorption von Sauerstoff an evakuierten, dotierten Zinkoxidoberflächen auftretende Strahlung im sichtbaren Bereich untersucht. Auf Grund der Wellenlänge und des Temperaturverhaltens des emittierten Lichts sowie des Einflusses der Festkörperdotierung auf die Intensität der Strahlung kann man den Lumineszenzeffekt der Festkörperlumineszenz des Zinkoxides zuschreiben.
