Description: Im Nordosten von Uruguay wurden Wasserpflanzengesellschaften und Niedermoore untersucht.
Description: In the northeast of Uruguay plant associations of fens and flat puddles have been examined. The puddles in the pampa are colonized by plant associations with Jussiaea repens, Nymphoides humboldtiana, Hydrocleis nymphoides‚and Echinodurus andrieuxii. In addition there are ponds which are extended Azolla-habitats. Spring-water fens appear in the water meadows of the Rocha-river. They are dominated by a sedge species, named Androtrichum giganteum. Between the coastel dunes fens grow up, which remind of the Parvo-Caricetum in the northern hemisphere. There Eleocharis sellowiana, Paspalum pumilum, Triglochin montevidense and occasionally Juncus acutus are found.

Description: Zwei Forschungsreisen (1974, 1979) führten den Verfasser nach Feuerland.
Description: The author made two research expeditions to Tierra del Fuego. The amphi-arctic plant taxa were studied, which predominate in the peatlands. The inventory of the amphi-arctic plant taxaincludes 19 angiosperms and 9 mosses in plant associations resembling those of the holarctic regions.

Description: Großrestuntersungen aus den Torfschichten eines Hochmoores bei Sellstedt (Krs.Cuxhaven) zeigten vielfältigen Vegetationswechsel. Die Moorbildung begann mit einem Birkenbruchwald. Später folgten verschiedene Hochmoorgesellschaften (Scheuchzerio-Caricetum limosae, Sphagnetum magellanici, Sphagnetum papillosi, Sphagnetum imbricati u.a.).
Description: In a bog near Sellstedt (Kr. Cuxhaven) macrofossil investigations have been made. By the results various plant successions have been pointed out. The development of the mire started with a birch swamp. Later, different bog plant-associations followed (Scheuchzerio-Caricetum limosae, Sphagnetum magellanici, Sphagnetum papillosi, Sphagnetum imbricati). An alternating hummock-hollow formation process, as assumed in former days, could not be observed. New aspects of the causes for the shift of the vegetation are discussed.
