Description: This paper analyzes the impact of external price shocks on the real exchange rate and the existence of the Dutch disease, in the case of the Argentine economy. We consider the effects of shocks on the terms of tr ade, the supply of the agricultural sector (booming sector and main exporter) and the real exchange rate on the GDP of the manufacturing sector (or, alternatively, on total GDP) and unemployment rates. SVAR models, with long-term restrictions, and quarterly data, covering the 1993-2018 period, are estimated. The results show that the external price shocks and agricultural sector shocks affect positively and permanently to the manufacturing GDP and negatively to the unemployment rates, not finding substantial evidence about existence of the Dutch disease for this economy, during the period considered.

Description: This research is about the returns of education in Guatemala, based on the theory of human capital and the model of Mincer, which is the most used for this type of studies with the objective of comparing the returns of the years 2002 and 2018. The database used in the estimates, using ordinary least squares, was obtained from Employment and Revenue Surveys for the years 2002, 2010 and 2018. The results reveal positive and increasing returns by educational level, although lower in 2018 compared to 2002. The reduction in returns to education is recorded more at the level of university education. The evidence shows that the returns to education evolve according to the economic cycle.

Description: The aim of this article is to analyze the bidirectional link between two key variables in economic development and social sustainability: human capital and social capital. After introducing both concepts, the influence of human capital (education, technical knowledge, experience of the individual-worker) in the individual social capital (network of interpersonal relationships of the focal subject) is approached from the theoretical point of view. In this sense, education extends the social network of the individual and broadens the set of resources that can be accessed. Likewise, and in the opposite direction, individual social capital favors both the education of the subject and the productivity of its human capital. The second part of the article contrasts from an empirical point of view the interrelation between human capital and individual social capital in the Spanish case. The results confirm the bidirectionality of the relationships and the need to deepen the causality of the processes.

Description: The objective of this study is to identify the main factors that determine the success in the labor insertion of university students in Spain. Using the Survey of Labor Insertion of University Graduates (EILU), which contains data from graduates in the 2009/2010 academic year we made several indicators in order to represent labor market success. Through the regression of ordinal and binomial probit models, we seek to identify the main factors that cause such success. From the results obtained it is concluded that the success in the labor insertion is positively related to the fact of working full time during the studies period, with the persistence of the gender differences and with the absence of incidence of the programs of mobility made by students.

Description: The idea of North American integration fades in the political spheres; the main actor has considered that Mexico's trade surplus with him translates into loss of welfare and employment for its economy; from this point of view, the continuity of the free trade agreement seems unnecessary. This work evaluates the path of growth of the productive system of the commercial block from the structural analysis and maintains that such path conditioned the dynamic effects of the product and employment variations. This paper proofs that the US has benefited more from the spillovers from Canada and Mexico than those made to its partners, however, the feedback of trade relations between the economies and with the rest of the world have been favorable for each of them.

Description: The aim of this study is to design an analytical model for the reduction of the underground economy in Ecuador. With that proposal, econometric techniques were used as a model of structural MIMIC equations for the estimation of the hidden economy in the country. Moreover, a VAR model is developed to determine the simulation of the most significant variables for the reduction of the hidden economy in Ecuador. Additionally this article try to define economic policy measures that impact on those variables. In this sense, the MIMIC model shows that the variables that are statistically significant as causes of the submerged economy in Ecuador are: trade opening, unemployment, inflation, government spending, and the tax burden of a tax indirect as the VAT. Consequently, with this, the estimation of the VAR model presented that the variable that stimulates, in greater percentage, a reduction of the hidden economy is the commercial opening, with a decrease of the hidden economy in 0.8% for each point of increase in this variable. Therefore, the economic policy proposal was addressed to the incorporation of economic liberalization measures that would allow an increase in commercial openness.

Description: Discusses evaluations to assess its relevance and usefulness to the Fomento Ganadero program in Yucatán from 2001 to 2013. Used a longitudinal non-experimental design in the form of trend where recollection (literature review and key informant interviews) and analysis of information (principles on meta-evaluation of Diaz and Pacheco) was sustained in a mixed approach, qualitative and quantitative. Found that the assessments made to Fomento Ganadero in Yucatan in the period of interest, were generally of low quality and very shallow in terms of internal consistency of its coherence, rules of operation, quality, effectiveness and efficiency, impact, focus and sati sfaction of their beneficiaries, i.e. that its coherence not expressed itself in operating rules that define with precision indices of efficiency and effectiveness that sought to achieve the program, in a focus around the priority activities and target population that would benefit in the State and, in the precision of the parameters of impact and sa tisfaction which sought to achieve.

Description: The aim of this paper is to identify the different shocks that could affect the current account in the argentine case, such as the terms of trade (the Harberger-Laursen-Metzler effect- HLM), supply shocks (productivity), demand shocks (real exchange rate and public consumption /current GDP) and the shocks on the production side of the economy. SVAR models with long-term restrictions and quar terly data covering the period 1994-2018 are used. The results of the impulse-response functions suggest the existence of the HLM effect for this country. Shocks in the terms of trade would initially affect to the current account positively, as the improvements in t he productivity and in the public saving (lower consumption).

Description: Poverty in Andalusia (sout hern region of Spain wit h a population of 8.411.205 inhabitants) affects 12,8% of its population. In this cont ext, the objective of this paper is to propose ways of reducing this situation of poverty extracted from various questionnaires to experts in the subject, following the Delphi Method. To achieve this objective, first of all, a de scription of the poverty data in Andalusia compared to Spain is provided; t he level of use of information and communication technologies in Andal usian households is deepened; the theoretical foundations of the Delphi method are devel oped to finally apply the Delphi method to the proposal of ways for the reduction of poverty in Andalusia and for the labor incorporation of Andal usian university students. The experts conclude that it would be necessary to create APPs for the information and training of potential worker s and entrepreneurs, both from the private and from the public spheres. They also highlight the need to make use of social networks with an orientation towards the employ ment relationship, encouraging the connection of companies and workers.

Description: The economic literature related to composting has a marked bias towards the inclusion of case analysis and cost-benefit analysis. Studies dedicated to a microeconomic analysis of compost production processes are few or nil. Some of the reasons that explain this gap in the literature range from the lack of economic theories that explain some environmental phenomena, to the lack of data related to composting. The objective of this article is to propose a function of compost production using econometric methods for 33 countries in the period 2011-2016. Through a system of equations, a linearized Cobb-Douglas type production function is constructed that serves as an approximation of the behavior and yields of this product for agricultural use. The most significant conclusion is that the returns to capital and agricultural labor were decreasing to scale.

Description: Although sharing is the essence of the human being, the emergence of the sharing economy is a recent phenomenon in the world, its growth has been boosted especially by the development of information technologies, which have served to connect users from different origins. The objective of this document was to conduct a tour of the sharing economy, how it has influenced the tourism sector, mainly in Colombia, a country that has grown in tourist numbers, mainly after the beginning of the process of peace dialogues. The results showed that the collaborative economy is based on trust between users and suppliers. This sharing has involved the emergence of a new business model called peer to peer P2P, which affects the tourism sector, thanks to the new consumer trends, among which is a change in the profile of tourists, who demand friendly products with the environment and have the need to be connected through social networks. The collaborative economy is a cultural phenomenon considered by the Times magazine as one of the ten ideas that will change the world, and that in Colombia just it begins.

Description: A review of the mode of regulation of the labor market regulation is expected according to the new "labor law" - in circulation for some time. The debate remains open as to the "illegalization" of informal job or the "formalization" of the informal economy. Informal employment (not affiliated with social security) is estimated at 4.3 million according to the 2017 ONS Labor Survey. This economy contributes around 35% to GDP formation. These findings call for a deep diagnosis before making any decision. What is know about this economy? What approach to adopt to avoid social tensions in the labor market? The proposed analysis is based on a series of reports, studies and theses on the labor market and on the informal sector in particular as well as a piece of news the exploitation of the statistical data and the statutory texts realized since the 2000s up this day. This reflection argues for a gradual regulation of the functioning of the labor market. The segmentation performed is an operational technical procedure, it is the reconstruction of the entire market, with its external ramifications, that can give its dynamic intelligence. Any "improvised" action can only exacerbate social tensions that would further undermine workers and employers and the economy in general.

Description: This paper compares the situation of immigrant women in the household labour market of Finland and Spain by using semi-structured interviews (in the cities of Helsinki and Murcia). Basic features of the labour and alien laws are stated, being more comprehensive and better enforced in Finland than in Spain. The interviews provide detailed information on the harsh conditions that immigrant women endured in Murcia, mostly due to overtime and the initial lack of social insurance. This contrasts with a formalized and professionalized market in Helsinki. However, on a monthly base, monetary income was lower in Helsinki than in Murcia. Changes in the Spanish alien laws have led immigrant women to register in the social welfare system producing an increase in the transparency in the traditionally opaque household labour market.

Description: This article studies the role of technology drivers in catching up at different stages of development. Countries can be at different stages of development when entering in a new catching-up cycle. Thus, the technological drivers of growth [technological capabilities, external spillovers, technological specialization and stability of policies in science and technology] can play different roles to accelerate the rate of growth and change their relative position in the leadership rank (win or lose the run). The empirical results show the building of a 'racing pattern' as countries climb up development stages. At earlier stages, infrastructures and qualification play a major role, while at upper stages, the maintenance of leadership depends on accumlating techno-scientific capabilities to innovate. The article also finds that R&D is crucial at any stage of development, as well as the stability of technology policies.

Description: Under a perspective based on resources, businesses competitiveness is related to how they can develop, produce and sell products and services, in a dynamic economic sector in terms of quality and responses to the necessities of the context, giving significance to studies for identifying routines, activities and strategies that businesses must develop to generate value through the creation of new products and processes or significant improvements to current ones. Nowadays it is a worry in theorists to understand what companies capabilities must develop to be competitive and sustainable in the future. The next work is aimed to diagnose, under the dynamic capabilities approach, the level of maturity of the touristic sector in the department of Sucre, and for its analysis, the activities related to the dynamic capabilities of absorption, adaptation, innovation and learning are integrated.

Description: The development model proposed for the economies of the world is based on a vision that includes economic growth. This idea is supported by the use of natural resources to provide the raw materials required for the system. However, from the concern for the consequences in the environment -by inadequate extractive practices, little or not controlled- government actions have had to regulate economic activities. However, public policies related to the environment have not been so forceful, to the point that when an environmental policy is faced with an energy, the latter prevails over the other. The vision of development has evolved from the hand of many authors who suggest a fundamental change in the conception of it. Despite this, the predominant economic system continues to hold on to the classic idea of the extraction of natural resources. Colombia is a sample of it. Its environmental regulatory framework is broad and contains important instruments for environmental regulation, has a national biodiversity policy, as well as a system of protected areas, has incentives for corporate environmental responsibility and promotes sustainable development and energy efficiency in companies. Despite this, the country's economic model continues to base its production system on the exportation of raw materials, agricultural products and the extraction of hydrocarbons, precious stones and minerals. It should be noted that in Latin American legislation mechanisms are established so that activities, for example extractive activities, comply with environmental protection requirements, however these are not fully met. What is missing from environmental policies to guarantee environmental governance that is linked to energy governance? Based on this response, the elements that are required to identify the type of development we want as a society in the integration process as UNASUR can emerge. Therefore, this analysis is carried out, using the symbolic cartography of Boaventura De Soussa Santos, on three maps that will later overlap. The first corresponds to establish the differences between the environmental and the energetic in a chronological way for the understanding of their incompatibility. In the next one, governance is studied as a way that, by its constitution, may facilitate the articulation between the environmental and the energetic, since it includes several actors in decision-making. The interaction between the different actors requires a clarification between what is involved in sustainability and sustainable development, a topic addressed in the third moment. The result of the overlap is the need to reconstruct the concept of sustainable development, because the differences between the approaches and the amplitude of it makes that between the environmental and the energetic deepen the incompatibility, instead of minimizing it.

Description: Throughout history, when looking at the evolution of the social and economic environment, the sustainability of certain economic policy measures has been questioned; policies that are more criticized even in times of crisis. In response, the sustainable development goals of the United Nations (United Nations, 2015) involve both the revision of traditional development models and also a different strategy regarding the implementation of economic policies. The purpose of this paper is to explore to what extent the economic policies of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean have been oriented to promote sustainable development. This analysis will allow to have a framework of reference, which will let know to what extent a sustainable economic policy is possible in these countries

Description: The article presents the results of the interregional analysis of Costa Rica 2011-2016, from the perspective of neo-structuralist economics, based on official sources. The objective is to reflect differences in the socio-economic development of the country, relating them to productive structures, together should promote the development of labor markets through learning processes, and therefore the territories. From the analysis of the regions, it is possible to identify notable differences between the Central Region of the country and the peripheral regions, in social, economic and educational variables. In the peripheral regions, poverty, unemployment and informality increase, as well as the flow of people migrating to the center. In addition, we found higher levels of labor force specialization, and a high concentration of productive activities in the center. All these are situations that must be taken into account from public policies in order to reduce the asymmetries in the development of the Costa Rican territories. For this, the articulation between social, business and institutional actors is of great importance, as is an educational policy that responds to the needs of the territories.

Description: Despite the growing awareness that wetlands are extremely valuable ecosystems, they continue to degrade (Seo / Birdlife, 2018). Some authors (Pearce and Turner, 1995; De Groot et al., 2007; Barbier et al., 1997) agree about this is because they are not being managed in an optimal way because the full value of wetlands has not been taken into account, as well as the costs and benefits of their possible uses when economic development decisions have been taken in the planning carried out. This paper identifies and analyzes the different ecosystem services provided by wetlands, including tourism. In addition, a tourism management proposal is presented to limit negative impacts and to promote a balanced use of tourist and recreational activities in wetlands, as well as generate information that can contribute to understand both the economic benefits of wetland conservation and the economic impact and cost of degradation and destruction.

Description: The objective of this research is to examine empirically the relationship between the current account balance and the real exchange rate for economies with different levels of development. We use data from the annual time series of the period 1980-2015 from the Development Indicators (2017) of the World Bank for Ecuador, Chile and Germany. The selection of the sample of countries allows comparing the results between countries with significant differences in the level of economic development. Using cointegration and error correction techniques, we found robust empirical evidence suggesting that the Marshall-Lerner condition is not met for the sample of countries and there is a short-term equilibrium but not in the long term, with the exception of Ecuador, a country without monetary sovereignty. One implication of economic policy derived from this research is that the deficit can be cover ed by the increases in the capital and financial accounts using the reserve assets to balance the accounts. However, this situation is not sustainable indefinitely because the reserve assets would be exhausted and in the end, the real exchange rate would have to be depreciated.

Description: The present article aims to analyze the Cartagena de Indias poverty profile and its determinants, which have a direct impact on the probability of a household could be identify as poor or not, through a logistic regression analysis, based on the Logit Binomial model. On the basis of this model, it was necessary to analyze the microeconomic determinants, according to the variables effects related to the household characteristics and the socio - demographic aspects of the head of the household, to know the probability of poverty conditions. This quantitative and analytical approach research is also based on the monetary poverty method in order to identify the poor household, using the Large Integrated Household Survey (GEIH) databases published by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). It is expected that this study contributes to generate knowledge about the topic as well as to provide useful tools in order to design public policies to combat this conditions. Among the main findings, labor variables and household composition are important to explain the poverty impact. The important of the education is also highlighted, because some aspects such as the head of the household's education level and the household schooling rate are relevant elements to be considered in public policies to reduce poverty in Cartagena de Indias.

Description: In this paper, indicators are estimated referring to income distribution and levels of deprivation, which allow knowing aspects of social life, for Tucumán with the intention of comparing them with those of the rest of the provinces of the NOA, at different moments of time. The indicators that were taken into account to analyze the distribution of income are the Kuznets coefficient, which measures the income gap between the highest income decile and the lowest income decile of a population, and the Gini coefficient. As for the calculation of "lack" and "severe lack", an indirect and relative methodology is considered, centered on total family income and family per capita income. The results obtained reveal that the distribution of income in the region in general presents an improvement, but examining the provinces separately, different results are observed. Regarding the lack indicators, they remained relatively stable in the period studied. The data sources are the National Survey of Urban Households (ENHU) from 2010 to 2014, the National Household Expenditure Survey (ENGHo) 2004/05 and 2012/13 and the Permanent Household Survey (EPH) from 2003 to 2014.

Description: The paper search for evidence of poverty traps in different regions of Argentina. The selected methodology is based on the model proposed by Antman and Mckenzie (2005), it suggests a specification for the income's dynamic that allows multiple balances, using the framework of classical growth model. In particular, this paper proposes an extension to that methodology. Using the functional version from Antman and Mckenzie (2005), the result determines the existence of weak poverty traps in 4 of the 6 regions. With the alternative approach, the result wins robustness and gets strong evidence for 4 regions.

Description: This article approaches to the transformations of the manufacturing industry in Argentina in the nineties. These transformations took place within the framework of a profound capitalist restructuring, promoted by the process of neoliberal reforms carried out by the Argentine State. As happened in different countries of the region, although with a particular way in Argentina, these reforms were based on an increase in trade liberalization, labor flexibilization laws, economic deregulation, privatizations of State companies, etc. These reforms were accompanied by an extremely restrictive monetary policy, which greatest exponent was the fixing of the exchange rate by State Law, an argentinean peculiarity. In this sense, the work discusses with prominent authors that characterize the nineties as a period of "deindustrialization". We developed a methodology for the quantitative analysis of official information, produced by the Center for Studies for Production (CEP), the Ministry of Economy, the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) and the National Institute. of Statistics and Census (INDEC). We focus on information related to the manufacturing industry on productivity and product, employment, real salary and profitability. In the same way, we use information on social indicators such as unemployment and underemployment, levels of poverty and indigence, etc. From this, we found that the capitalist restructuring had a strong impact on the manufacturing industry, which became one of the motors of the productive reconversion. In the ascending phase of this process in 1991-98, the industry increased its competitiveness, with an accelerated growth in industrial productivity, a notable increase in output and an expansion in profitability, at the same time as real wages stagnated and grew social inequality. This expansive moment was also uneven among industrial subsectors. In the downward phase of this process in 1999-2001, gains in industrial competitiveness tended to fade. The industry led the economic meltdown, leading to lower profitability, employment and product, while productivity stagnated. The debacle took to its maximum the deterioration of the conditions of the working class, with unprecedented levels of unemployment, poverty and indigence in the country. Consequently, the result of capitalist restructuring under neoliberalism was a process of accelerated economic growth with a strong negative impact in social terms, amplified dramatically in the final crisis of the period

Description: With this document, we want to know the business model of the Microfranchises and how they contribute to the generation of jobs and sustainable income in the low-income population of the Colombian Caribbean region. For this, the state of the art is presented with the concepts of franchise models, microfranchises and their evolution over the years. The results of the review show that even though there is no specific legal regulation, this has not been a problem for the creation of Microfranchises in Colombia. It is also evident that increasing access to financial services for the lower income population is necessary, but not the only ingredient as a solution to poverty, increasing access to scalable business opportunities as an important aspect; Microfranchises as a proven business format provide such access with key characteristics such as self-sustainability, the amount of investment required and the social impact it can generate; in this regard, it is important to continue the work of sensitization of the business model among entrepreneurs, national and international partners and experts in the thematic consultants. Finally, it points out that the methodology used in the study is theoretical, which required review of literature, from which was extracted the conclusions of the authors, not without first considered the context of the Colombian Caribbean coast.

Description: The objective of this research is to examine the relationship between human capital and output in Ecuador through cointegration techniques. We use data compiled by the World Bank in the World Development Indicators (2017) and by Barro and Lee (2013) of the period 1982-2015. Despite the instability of education policies in this country, the results are consistent with the approach of the endogenous growth model developed by Lucas (1988). We find that human capital measured by literacy rate, and physical capital measured by gross fixed capital formation, have a stable long-term and short-term relationship with output in this country. Finally, we find that there is a unidirectional Granger (1988) causality from human capital to output and from human capital to physical capital. One implication of economic policy derived from this research is that an increase in investment in the labor force endowments can increase output and physical capital.

Description: Using a quasi-experimental design with pooled cross section over time model, this paper explore the effect of the financial crisis known as the Great Recession on the labor supply in Ecuador. The remittances perceived declined due to the economic contraction in the United States and Spain, so the trade-off, between leisure and work, of the remittances perceivers might be affected. When household income decreases, labor supply increases that imply a reduction in leisure time in order to offset the decline of the income (substitution effect is larger than income effect). The model suggest that the probability of working additional hours for a individual who receives remittances rose approximately 5% with greater prevalence on men, single and persons with higher years of schooling.

Description: This paper investigates the impact of external price shocks on private consumption and investment and the sources of fluctuations in these variables, in the case of Argentina, employing structural VEC models (Structural Vector Error Correction) and quarterly data, covering the period 1993Q1-2017Q1. To that end, short and long-terms restrictions are imposed and five structural shocks are identified: terms of trade, consumption, investment, real exchange rate and unemployment rates. The results show, that both consumption and investment, respond positively and permanently to the external price shocks and are influenced positively each other: investment has a positive effect on private consumption and total consumption impacts on investment positively. A real exchange rate depreciated would have a negative effect on private consumption and investment, in the short term.

Description: The issue of gender violence has an important historic and social dimension. The social development of the last decades has allowed us to overcome the old male patriarchal order, but the woman continues to suffer a subordinate and submissive position towards the man in many situations of daily life, violence being a habitual expression of this relation of inferiority. Thus, public intervention becomes an essential support in the evaluation of this problem because it defines the political measures necessary to achieve a more egalitarian society that results in a higher level of well-being. The main objective of this work is to analyze the resources of the Spanish Public Administration in relation to gender violence as well as its effectiveness. The public measures analyzed show that, despite the great advances in the development of effective social policies, there is still a long way to go in the fight against gender violence.

Spatial econometrics is used to verify the increasing effects of air pollution on the spatial distribution of deaths in the ZMVM in 2010. The results obtained allow to establish that there is a positive and significant spatial relationship of the pollutant emissions PM10, PM2.5, SO2, CO, NOx, COT and COV in the number of deaths in the ZMVM, especially in ischemic heart diseases. Also, the evidence obtained shows that in acute myocardial infarctions there is no direct relationship with air pollutants.

Description: The aim of this paper is to analyze and highlight the structure and functioning of shadow banks as institutions that played a key role in the 2008 financial crisis, which may contribute to identify financial risks in the future. The interrelated growth of shadow banks through their balance sheets is the process that is identified as a mechanism of financial feedback that is transformed into financial fragility and endogenous Minsky-type finance. Shadow banks are the channel of transmission of international financial fragility and not the securitization and the instruments that emerged from this process (CDO, synthetic CDO and CDS) as has been argued. Shadow banks trade and create market for these instruments at the international level, so that the origin and prevention of the international financial crisis can take a broader and better explanation.

Description: This paper analyzes the impact of external price shocks on fiscal policy in Argentina during the last two decades. The paper evaluates, through VAR models with long-term restrictions, the effects of the terms of trade, and the output gap, in revenues, expenditures and the primary fiscal deficit, for the period 1993-2015. The estimation results show that the fiscal policy would have been pro cyclical, since the expenditures and the primary fiscal deficit of the national government increased during periods of boom in commodity prices. The terms of trade and inflation rates would be more important, than shocks in the output gap, to explain the volatility of fiscal ratios, in the long run.

In the banking sector, after the outbreak of the crisis in 2008, financial bailouts that have used public funds to save various entities have provoked a current of opinion about the necessary social role that banking companies must develop. In this article, a case study is carried out analyzing the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in ABANCA, the financial institution with the largest presence in Galicia (northwest Spain), which has been rescued with public money, Identifying a series of objectives and actions carried out by said entity.
Description: This paper presents a multivariate model to explain the dynamics of three sources of funds of vital importance for developing countries: workers' remittances, foreign direct investment (FDI) and export income. The model was estimated using a panel data of eight Latin American economies: the six that compose Central America, Colombia and Venezuela. The data set covers the years 1970 to 2013. The estimation results suggest that there is long-run equilibrium relationship between the three series studied. This implies that remittances, FDI and export income, in these countries, share the same long-run trend.

The response from the Bank of Spain (supervisor) in favor of the claimants and against the actions of the financial institution is not binding so that entities may choose not to rectify its performance. An application of the fuzzy incidence matrix is carried out in order to detect and analyse a possible indirect correlations between the rate of complaints in customer's behalf not rectified by the entity and the levels of mistrust and sense of impunity that the bank client perceives from the Bank of Spain and financial institutions.

Description: The existence of crisis processes recommends, following the Keynesian theory, the need for a degree of public intervention as a necessary factor for the management of imbalances caused in markets that require regulation, together with support and recovery policies. According to monetarist theory , this cyclical occurrence of crisis in the globalized economy is caused by an irrational use of factors of production, which means that, in periods of stagnation or recession , there are imbalances that the system itself is not capable of corrected through usual actions . Control models of credit risk in the banking sector should incorporate elements that take into account these factors.

The response functions suggest a positive reaction from the current account to shocks in the terms of trade (short term), supporting the existence of the Harberger-Laursen-Metzler (HLM) effect, while variance decomposition shows that the terms of trade account for about 18% of the variance of the current account, result similar to other developing countries

Description: Our research is aimed at finding the optimization of the service provided to citizens, in order to avoid breakdowns in certain administrative services compared to other services that have low levels of activity. The algorithm applied (Branch & Bound) detects what branches of the tree (administrative sections and services) are not optimal ones and have to be pruned for the purpose of not continue wasting resources and processes in cases that are far from the optimal solution. The application of Stepping Stone method or Nortwest Corner allow us to complete the staff reallocation within each administrative section based on timing optimization.

Description: Migration movements in the south border of México with Guatemala, has motivated serious social, economic and politic un-stability in both countries. During the last decades of the XX-th century, the sites of the south zone have become in zones with high violence indexes, delinquency and migration, instead of being only riches tropical forests. A sample was selected using the connections among the migrants present in the studied zone. We used Correspondence Analysis for establishing graphically , the dependence and interdependence relations among the categorical variables using a contingency table, enhancing the identification of the relation of the structure, similarity and dissimilarity, proximity or farthermost among objects/individuals and attributes.. This technique allowed developing an analysis between origin-destiny of the migrants, with respect to the indexes considered in this study.

Description: The research is oriented to show the possible relation between to main and controversial aspects for the good functioning of a company, such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Happiness at the Workplace. With that aim, and in the first place, we try to define, as clear as possible, both terms, from all the existing writings on the subject. Once defined, an exposition follows on the research done by different authors, with the display of the main results obtained though the application of two measuring tools for those concepts: the CSR Diagnosis Questionnaire and the Happiness at the Workplace Survey. These tools have been applied to thirty one companies in Seville and Cadiz in which the relationship between both concepts (Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Happiness at the Workplace) has been established and measured.

Description: Dornbusch’s exchange rate overshooting hypothesis (1976) is a central building block in international macroeconomics. This paper analyzes the effects of monetary and other macroeconomic shocks on the real exchange rate in the case of a small economy like Argentina. The paper uses SVAR models with short term restrictions, and quarterly data of this country, covering the period 1993-2014. Results show that a contractionary monetary shock generates an appreciation of the real exchange rate in the short term and then a gradual depreciation of this variable, as the hypothesis of Dornbusch suggests.

Description: This article from the perspective of port governance, develops the performance of port privatization in México, considering the load indicators (general and containerized), exports and imports, cruise ship passengers, investments made and number of companies active in the maritime port sector. The analysis demonstrates achievements and progress, though, still, there are ideas unresolved in the field of regional development and multimodal transport, mainly. In summary, the work becomes pioneered Mexican literature, since there are few studies that incorporate a governance approach to issues of ports in Mexico. In summary, this is a pioneering work as there are few studies that focus on the governance of Mexican ports. To conclude, there is a profound need to deepen our understanding of the governance of Mexican ports and to build his work of Luis F. Aguilar (FCE, 2013).

Description: We present an investigation into two parts to assess the quality of the competitive internet websites of selected industries in the Basque Country. The ad hoc methodology developed for this research can be applied to other regional areas. Competitiveness is defined according to two measurable parameters, first, obtained position in the ranking of Google for each keyword to define a main product or function for customers and second, the SEO quality of each major element of content, such as title page, metadescription, PageRank and others. It shows the comparative or benchmarking of Basque companies in selected sectors with the ranking leaders in Google, in terms of SEO and social media use.

Description: This article aims to analyze the phenomenon of financial conservatism in firms' capital structures and relate it to their employment variation for a sample of Spanish companies during the 2007 - 2010 period. Financial conservatism consists of a low-leverage/high cash no-short-term capital structure policy. We use Jovanovic's model (1982) that relates growth, age and size, as used by Heshmati (2001), to which we add a dummy indicating financial conservatism. As the growth of a company is measured as its number of employees variation, what we are ultimately analyzing is how financial conservatism affects job creation. Evidence shows that a financial conservative policy is positive for job creation.

Description: There is nothing new about the resurface on the debate of the expansion of the underground economy in times of crisis. It is a reiterated topic claiming that irregular practices in the economy are cushioning the social effects in times of economic depression. However, the extensive literature related to the issue, for almost half a century, is not conclusive about the possible countercyclical effect of unregistered activities. This paper reviews relationships between the submerged and the regular sides of economic system, in order to know if they evolve in the same direction or, on the contrary, you can see a counter-cyclical behaviour on the hidden side of the economy. It aims, therefore, to analyse this relationship, first reviewing the academic literature on this subject. Second, establish a set of rational conjectures about the dynamics of both sides of the economic system, registered and hidden, in an autonomous way and interacting between them, from the perspective of developed countries. This develops a line of research that relies on the definition of a function of cost-benefit, little used in academic literature, trying to draw any conclusion on the convergent or divergent dynamics of both, on a widespread basis. And here a function containing the different benefits that, might be expected, dipping subjects obtain from all or part of its business activity, as well as costs arising from this (economic, criminal or other nature) is built to identify the dynamics of both sectors at different stages of the cycle. The outcome is very difficult to evaluate quantitatively and it defines the economic incentive for breaching the barrier of the formality or regularity at each point in time and according to the situation. This function involves certain facts assessable in monetary form, and other difficult to estimate, but that, no doubt, contributes to define the profile of the transgression to the informal economy, such as the moral pressure of the social and economic environment in which the offender lives or the intensity of auditing for compliance with the rules made by the tax, labour and other authorities, etc. And, finally it comes to an empirical estimate that allows us to compare, through an estimated model of structural equations similar to the one developed by the Austrian Professor Schneider, the dynamics of the hidden sector of the economy in major European Union countries in the last decade, and it also allow us to observe the dissimilar behaviour in times of expansion and in moments of recession of the world economy. After that analysis, it can be observed a counter-cyclical behaviour of the underground economy. The direction of the relationship of the hidden economy with the economic growth, in principle reverse - which confirm its counter-cyclical nature - and the intensity of such a relationship are variables in the comparative analysis among countries, depending the outcome in each country on their economic, institutional and cultural characteristics. Such a conclusion updates some of the most relevant work carried out in the field of estimation of the underground economy, at the international level. And in spite of this, it is noted the low contribution of the economy submerged to the dynamics of growth of the whole economic system.

Description: The goal of this research is to obtain a premium calculation principle, for the life business, based on a coherent risk measure, distorted probabilities with the Wang distortion function in the form of power, called 'Proportional Hazards (PH) Transforms'. It justifies the recommendation of Solvency II to increase or decrease, according to the type of insurance chosen, the mortality instantaneous rate and thus get an implicitly surcharged premium to deal deviations of actual claims regarding expected. Whole life insurance has been selected for this research, and the premium risk has been calculated for the four accepted laws of survival, such as the first and second Dormoy, Gomperzt law and Makeham law.
