    Beschreibung: Infrastructures of Freedom sheds light on the impact of inadequate public lighting in self-built communities in Cape Town. In democratic South Africa, where infrastructure provision still reflects deeply embedded notions of citizenship, informal neighborhoods with minimal infrastructure provision face challenges beyond access to basic services and opportunities. Fear, the feeling of being forgotten, and living in undignified conditions are among the powerful experiences darkness brings about in these neighborhoods. The book not only reveals these experiences of everynight life, but takes a step further: it considers how the co-production of a solar public lighting project within a community improved everynight life and suggests ways for infrastructure to more successfully articulate citizenship.

    Beschreibung: The proposal is founded to reconversion the existing breakwaters and artificial nourishments with an artificial reef positioned on the “calm belt” for mimics the location of coral reef. This calm is characterized by the conversion of pulsing vertical wave offshore energy into inshore horizontal currents. The soft barrier, far from the storm surges, diminish water velocity with no erosion in excess and electric power generation. Moreover, the turbines have the impeller semi-submerged and close to an indifferent buoyancy, in order to favor the number of revolutions at minimum currents

    Beschreibung: Psychiatric disorders in adolescents are an important social problem relevant to almost all healthcare professionals. The prevalence of mood, anxiety, substance use and other psychiatric disorders among adolescents is high. However, medical professionals are not sufficiently trained about adolescent psychiatric disorders. Primary care providers correctly identify less than a fourth of youth with a depressive or anxiety disorder and many clinicians underestimate the importance of the problem of adolescent psychiatric illnesses and suicidal behavior. Multiple clinical, neurobiological, cultural and legal aspects of psychiatric disorders in adolescents are discussed in this book.
