    Description: Este libro es un ensayo extendido sobre las dinámicas de desarrollo y resistencia desatadas por los avances del extractivismo, una forma de capitalismo que se caracteriza por una crisis multidimensional de alcance global. El extractivismo toma diversas formas, pero el epicentro en su más reciente encarnación es América Latina. La región ha sido el principal blanco de sus impactos socioecológicos negativos, pero también el escenario de las fuerzas más poderosas de resistencia. El autor aborda tres dimensiones críticas de este proceso, incluyendo la nueva geoeconomía y geopolítica del capital, las resistencias en la frontera extractiva y las alternativas propuestas por los gobiernos formados en el »ciclo progresista« en la política, y construidos desde abajo por las comunidades indígenas y no indígenas en la frontera. Finalmente, cierra con una reflexión sobre la posibilidad de una transición postextractivista a un otro mundo de solidaridad social y armonía con la naturaleza, en condiciones de justicia social y ecológica.

    Description: Abordar la existencia de unas clases medias negras en Colombia no sólo es difícil sino un aparente contrasentido, un oxímoron, porque la gente negra es imaginada como inevitablemente pobre y de »clase baja«. Pero ¿acaso no existen otras experiencias de clase dentro de esta población? Para responder al vacío investigativo sobre este grupo social este libro examina la configuración de las clases medias negras desde finales de los años treinta del siglo xx, a partir de las historias de vida de miembros de tres generaciones de familias originarias de la región del Pacífico y el Caribe que se identifican como parte de esta clase. Esta indagación se hace desde una perspectiva interseccional, que asume que no se puede entender el funcionamiento de las relaciones de poder que dan forma a estas experiencias desde un solo marco explicativo (de clase, género o raza), y que para hacerlo se deben considerar sus mutuas interrelaciones y afectaciones.

La Construcción Horizontal del Conocimiento se refiere al vigor que adquieren los conocimientos sociales cuando parten del diálogo disciplinar con las voces de los saberes múltiples que poseen quienes viven y superan los problemas sociales que les aquejan. La investigación que responde horizontalmente a las preguntas sociales aporta de dos maneras: produce nuevo conocimiento, y nuevas relaciones entre las personas.

    Description: Este libro presenta casos de experimentos sociales en El Salvador, Nicaragua, y Uruguay. En estos espacios, donde florecía la comunicación horizontal y multi-clasista, el concepto de utopías menores de Jay Winter es apropiado. Este ensayo toma inspiración de esa obra importante de Winter, rastreando lo que él llama las »visiones de transformación parcial«, que coexistían temporalmente con las grandes narrativas de transformación social, pero después perdieron su lugar propio en el record histórico. Trabajadores agrícolas en Chinandega, minifundistas en Morazán, y obreros fabriles en Montevideo, en medio de graves crisis sociales-económicas y políticas conquistaron espacios para defenderse, pero también de crear nuevas relaciones sociales y una experiencia de trabajo colectiva y libertadora.

    Description: Practices of comparing shape how we perceive, organize, and change the world. Supposedly innocent, practices of comparing play a decisive role in forming categories, boundaries, and hierarchies; but they can also give an impetus to question and change such structures. Like almost no other human practice, comparing pervades all social, political, economic, and cultural spheres. This volume outlines the program of a new research agenda that places comparative practices at the center of an interdisciplinary exploration. Its contributions combine case studies with overarching systematic considerations. They show what insights can be gained and which further questions arise when one makes a seemingly trivial practice - comparing - the subject of in-depth research.

    Description: Community and individual experiences in the fields of art and religion are often experienced and described as "inexpressible", as immediate and at the same time, as fluctuating and fleeting. They exceed the order of space and time - and yet are conditioned by the concrete ritual dimensions of the performance and execution and the sensual (aesthetic) experience. The interdisciplinary contributions of the volume are dedicated to these experiences and their representations in various media such as Dance, music and film and especially ask about transcultural dimensions. The central example is the interface between Germany and South Asia.
    Description: Gemeinschaftliche und individuelle Erfahrungen in den Bereichen der Kunst und der Religion werden oft als »unaussprechlich« erlebt und beschrieben, als unmittelbar und gleichzeitig, als schwankend und flüchtig. Sie überschreiten die Ordnung von Raum und Zeit – und sind doch bedingt durch die konkreten rituellen Dimensionen der Auf- und Ausführungen und des sinnlichen (aisthetischen) Erlebens. Die interdisziplinären Beiträge des Bandes widmen sich diesen Erfahrungen und ihren Repräsentationen in verschiedenen Medien wie z.B. Tanz, Musik und Film und fragen besonders nach transkulturellen Dimensionen. Zentrales Beispiel ist dabei die Schnittstelle zwischen Deutschland und Südasien.
