    Description: In times of emergency, communication plays a crucial yet problematic role. While this may seem obvious nowadays, even before the emergence of modern media, the methods of gathering, elaborating and transmitting information had a significant influence on the perception of risk and decision-making processes. The book examines how government bodies and different social actors handled emergencies in the Hispanic Monarchy, from the late sixteenth to the early nineteenth centuries. It features case studies from the Hispanic Monarchy’s European, American and Asian territories, exploring the narrative strategies used in news-sheets and gazettes, the impact of disasters on information networks, how they interacted with political and social dynamics, and the effect of conflicting interpretations of extreme events.

    Description: In der Deutschdidaktik sind Untersuchungen zu Wissen und Überzeugungen von Lehrkräften mittlerweile ein prominenter Gegenstand. Trotz des deutlich gewachsenen Interesses an der Erforschung von Lehrerprofessionalität ist bislang noch wenig konturiert, wie die etablierten Konstrukte «Wissen» und «Überzeugungen» fachdidaktisch zu profilieren sind. Zugleich besteht Klärungsbedarf, wie die Geltung dieser (potenziell) handlungsrelevanten Konstrukte im unterrichtlichen Handeln einzuordnen ist. Der vorliegende Band stellt diese notwendig zu führenden Diskussionen zur fachspezifischen Konzeptualisierung ins Zentrum. Vor dem Hintergrund aktueller, oftmals empirischer Projekte gehen die Autor*innen der Frage nach, welche Konturen und Herausforderungen in der Erforschung von fachlichem und fachdidaktischem Wissen und fachspezifischen Überzeugungen von Deutschlehrkräften auszumachen sind.

    Description: Bausteine einer Korpusgrammatik des Deutschen (“Building blocks towards a corpus grammar of German”) is a series presenting corpus linguistic studies on German grammar conducted at the Leibniz Institute for the German Language in Mannheim (IDS). Using state-of-the-art corpus linguistic methodology, the series aims to capture the diversity and variability of German grammar at a high resolution. At the same time, it aims to ensure the study results are verifiable. Issue by issue, the series will add “building blocks” for a new, consistently corpus-based grammar of German. In addition to the peer-reviewed texts, which are written in the style of grammar chapters, the series publishes the results of statistical analyses and, for selected topics, the underlying data sets.

    Description: In this third volume of the “Online Handbook of Language Criticism – A European Perspective”, linguistic purism is being understood as both criticism of language usage on the level of parole and criticism of forms and structures of a language on the level of langue. The articles in this volume illustrate in comparative perspective in which constellations of languages linguistic purism in German, English, French, Italian, and Croatian was relevant in the past, and still is today, how the individual languages were and are affected by language-puristic activities, and which actors and discourses have formed and framed language-puristic activities in the different language cultures.

Es wird sprachvergleichend aufgezeigt, in welchen Sprachkonstellationen Sprachpurismus in der Vergangenheit sowie heute von Bedeutung ist und inwiefern die einzelnen Sprachkulturen von sprachpuristischen Aktionen betroffen waren bzw. sind.     Description: The texts compiled in Coptica Palatina were worked on by young scholars taking part in an International Summer School for Coptic Papyrology under the supervision of the editors. The volume offers editions of Coptic literary and magical texts, of private letters, as well as of legal and administrative documents, all complete with a commentary and a modern translation. These texts originate from different regions of Middle and Upper Egypt (Fayyum, Hermupolis, Bawit, Aphrodito, Esna, Apollonopolis magna) and are datable to the 6th/7th up to the 11th/12th centuries CE. The bulk of the material, however, comes from the 7th/8th century, the crucial period of Egypt’s transition from a province of the Byzantine empire to a province of the early Islamic caliphate.
    Description: Die Beiträge des Bandes „Coptica Palatina“ sind im Rahmen einer Internationalen Sommerschule für koptische Papyrologie von jungen Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissen­schaftlern unter der Anleitung der Herausgeber erarbeitet worden. Es werden kommentierte und übersetzte Editionen von koptischen literarischen und magischen Texten sowie von Briefen, Rechtsurkunden und Verwaltungsschreiben vorgelegt, die aus verschiedenen Regionen Mittel- und Oberägyptens (Faijum, Hermupolis, Bawit, Aphrodito, Esna, Apollonopolis magna) stammen und vom 6./7. bis ins 11./12. Jh. n. Chr. datieren. Das Schwergewicht der Texte liegt im 7./8. Jh., der Zeit der Transformation der byzantinischen Provinz in eine Provinz des frühislamischen Kalifats.

    Description: Love discourses, according to the basic thesis of the work, are figurative in Narbikova's texts as constituting the text. Their characteristic is the shift from (love) semantics to a specific (love) rhetoric. Love discourses in the textual presentation are no longer constituted through the traditional narration of love stories or stories about love, but through a practice of love-speech. As a result, language no longer functions as a means of description, but itself becomes the object of description and reflection. Examining this phenomenon in conjunction with the theme of love discourses is the main interest of the work.
    Description: Liebesdiskurse, so die Grundthese der Arbeit, figurieren in Narbikovas Texten als textkonstituierend. Deren Charakteristikum ist die Verschiebung von (Liebes-)Semantik hin zu einer spezifischen (Liebes-)Rhetorik. Liebesdiskurse werden in der textuellen Darstellung nicht mehr über das traditionelle Erzählen von Liebesgeschichten bzw. Geschichten über die Liebe konstituiert, sondern durch eine Praxis des Liebe-Sprechens. Sprache fungiert demzufolge nicht mehr als Mittel der Beschreibung, sondern avanciert selbst zum Gegenstand von Beschreibung und Reflexion. Der Untersuchung dieses Phänomens im Konnex mit dem Thema der Liebesdiskurse gilt das wesentliche Interesse der Arbeit.

    Description: European cookery has grown historically, and so has the Sienese Libro de la cocina. The book's origins are partly in Italy, partly in other cultures, combining recipes from Tuscan cuisine with those taken directly from the older Latin Liber de coquina, a cookery book from Naples which can be seen as a link between Oriental and Western European culinary literature. The Libro de la cocina reveals the complete range of the art of XIVth century Italian cooking: basic and elaborate vegetable, meat and fish dishes, desserts, and dietary preparations. Many of the almost 200 recipes are linked with their Oriental, French, English, and Italian precursors and successors. A complete critical glossary makes the texts accessible and, in addition, parallel vernacular and Latin texts are provided.
    Description: Tutta la cucina europea, quindi anche il senese Libro de la cocina, è un prodotto della storia. Le sue origini sono da ricercare in parte in Italia e in parte in altre civiltà: esso propone infatti ricette della cucina toscana e altre attinte da un ricettario napoletano, il Liber de coquina, a sua volta punto di incontro della letteratura culinaria orientale con quella dell’Europa occidentale. Il Libro de la cocina (metà del Trecento) rivela tutta la ricchezza della cucina italiana medievale: cibi semplici o di elaborata preparazione, verdure, carni, pesci, dolci e ricette per malati. Molte delle circa 200 ricette hanno legami con piatti e testi orientali, francesi, inglesi e italiani, attestati in tempi precedenti e successivi. Un glossario critico chiarisce le ricette; vengono riportati inoltre passi paralleli di opere latine e volgari.

    Description: The process of setting norms for language and language use is closely related to critique of language and its use. The German term Sprachnormenkritik as yet has no equivalent in English, French, Italian, or Croatian linguistics. Notwithstanding, the concept of ›critique of language norms‹, or aspects of it, have been debated in all these languages for centuries.
    Description: Normierung der Sprache und ihres Gebrauchs ist eng verbunden mit einer Kritik an der Sprache und ihrem Gebrauch. Der Terminus der Sprachnormenkritik hat weder im Englischen noch im Französischen oder Italienischen und auch nicht im Kroatischen eine ausdrucksseitige Entsprechung. Das Konzept der ›Sprachnormenkritik‹ bzw. bestimmte Teilkomponenten sind dessen ungeachtet im Englischen, Französischen, Italienischen und Kroatischen seit Jahrhunderten in der Diskussion.

    Description: After 1918 Germany had to find a new definition for its identity on a political and social level as well as to rediscover itself as a unity in terms of geography and culture. This process can be described as „Inner colonisation“. Scientists and artists began to compensate the many losses by tapping into the dimension of the „inner“ Germany - its unique cultural density - which in France would be called „la France profonde“. The pressure to be economical was converted into an economy of abundance of spiritual and material wealth. The newly discovered virtue of variety could be explained in short by phrases and slogans. However, this book addresses all those texts and images which emerged from an „Arbeit im Material“ (Siegfried Kracauer) and from a fresh, authentic experience
    Description: „Nähe der Anschauung“ (Ernst Glaeser). Nach 1918 musste sich Deutschland politisch und sozial neu definieren, aber sich auch als Land, als geographische und kulturelle Einheit neu entdecken. Es setzte ein Prozess ein, den man mit einem Begriff der Zeit als „Innere Kolonisation“ bezeichnen kann.
