Description: Digitalization has already transformed many areas of the economy and social life. Aspects of healthcare and clinical practice are also undergoing digital transformation. In light of these developments, this dissertation sheds light on the acquisition, representation, and use of process knowledge in the context of hybrid AI methods. The central contribution is the structure-preserving back-and-forth transformation of process trees to process plans.

Description: In this work, the authors analysed the co-dependency between models and analyses, particularly the structure and interdependence of artefacts and the feature-based decomposition and composition of model-based analyses. Their goal is to improve the maintainability of model-based analyses. They have investigated the co-dependency of Domain-specific Modelling Languages (DSMLs) and model-based analyses regarding evolvability, understandability, and reusability.

Description: This book proposes a novel deep learning based detection method, focusing on vehicle detection in aerial imagery recorded in top view. The base detection framework is extended by two novel components to improve the detection accuracy by enhancing the contextual and semantical content of the employed feature representation. To reduce the inference time, a lightweight CNN architecture is proposed as base architecture and a novel module that restricts the search area is introduced.

Description: This cumulative habilitation thesis, proposes concepts for (i) modelling and analysing dependability based on architectural models of software-intensive systems early in development, (ii) decomposition and composition of modelling languages and analysis techniques to enable more flexibility in evolution, and (iii) bridging the divergent levels of abstraction between data of the operation phase, architectural models and source code of the development phase.

Description: IoT applications perceive and interact with the environment via smart devices and cloud services. When operating such applications one is faced with the challenge of configuring the smart devices and the cloud services in a manner, which achieves a high data quality at low operational costs. This work supports IoT operators with IoT collection strategies and cost optimization functions for data qualities, which are influenced by the interplay of smart device and cloud service configurations.

Description: Model-based performance prediction is a well-known concept to ensure the quality of software.Current approaches are based on a single-metric model, which leads to inaccurate predictions for modern architectures. This thesis presents a multi-strategies approach to extend performance prediction models to support multicore architectures. We implemented the strategies into Palladio and significantly increased the performance prediction power.

Description: The performance and flexibility of robot technologies make it possible to bring robots to everyday life. This creates many challenges: safety, legal regulations, reliability, reusability, and business models must be considered under special conditions. The acceptance and interaction of humans and robots are of central importance for the success of the applications. This collection summarises 15 studies from the BMBF-funded program "Robots for Assistance: Interaction in the Field.

Description: In this work, an approach for adaptive world modeling is proposed. World models for cognitive systems often employ predefined domain models, which may become insufficient when encountering unforeseen entities. The presented approach addresses an adaptive extension of such domain models, considering the relevance of proposed model adaptations. As a basis, a quantitative model evaluation is devised, rating the ability of a domain model to represent the currently observed environment state.
