    Description: 〈P〉In the history of Czech linguistic theory and thought there is hardly a book more controversial than the grammar of Václav J. Rosa (1620-1689), Čechořečnost seu Grammatica Linguae Bohemicae. It appeared in 1672, two years after Comenius's death, at the beginning of the dark age (temno) which came to symbolize for the revivalist tradition, haunted as it was by the past, the decadence of Czech literature, culture and national spirit. Given this, Rosa's grammar (henceforth RG) was inevitably destined to acquire the stigma of the same degenerate qualities which corrupted the nation's very soul, ist language.     Description: 2012 wurde das Netzwerk Landeskunde Nord gegründet, dessen Ziel es ist, Forschung und Lehre zur Landeskunde des Deutschen als Fremdsprache, insbesondere in den nordischen und den baltischen Ländern voranzutreiben. Die Publikation knüpft an die bereits erschienenen Bände Landeskunde Nord, Perspektive Nord und Spektrum Nord an und bietet weitere Beiträge zur wissenschaftlichen Theoriebildung in Verbindung mit unterrichtspraktischen Reflexionen und Projektvorstellungen. Dabei werden u.a. Brücken zwischen den verschiedenen Ebenen der Bildungssysteme geschlagen. Die Beiträge nehmen international geführte Fachdiskussionen u.a. zu Erinnerungsorten, Linguistic Landscapes und zum kreativen Schreiben auf und haben auch deshalb über die nordischen und baltischen Länder hinaus Bedeutung.

    Description: This volume reports on the main results of the research project Inclusive epistemologies and practices of out-of-school English learning. The study reacts to low attainment levels in English as a foreign language among socioeconomically disadvantaged youth. The contributors to this volume research teenagers’ existing practices of using and learning English out of school time and implement new, inclusive, nonformal English language educational initiatives. They evaluate the impact of the nonformal English language educational initiatives implemented and support their sustainability and transferability. The project embeds collaborative and arts-based methods into its methodology, fostering inclusive and creative educational practices and ways of knowing.

    Description: 〈P〉Der vorliegende Sammelband ist dem 400-Jahr-Jubiläum des Erscheinens zweier hervorragender Werke in der Kulturgeschichte der Slowenen, der Bibelübersetzung von Juraj Dalmatin und der ersten slowenischen Grammatik (Articae horulae) von Adam Bohorič (beides 1584) gewidmet und enthält den Großteil der für den Druck bearbeiteten Referate der "3. Slawistentagung der Universitäten Klagenfurt und Ljubljana" (Klagenfurt, 26.-28. Mai 1983). Den Hauptteil des Bandes bilden die Beiträge zum Rahmenthema der Tagung "Protestantismus bei den Slowenen". Darüber hinaus wurden auch jene Tagungsbeiträge aufgenommen, die zwar thematisch außerhalb des Rahmenthemas liegen, jedoch einen Einblick in die slowenistische Forschungstätigkeit an den beiden Universitätsorten geben. 〈/P〉

    Description: Considerable socio-political change has re-configured the discursive space once occupied by ‘utopia’. Within the cultures of late capitalism and the organisational matrices of bio-political administration, that space is no longer animated by images of idealised states that are yet to come, or by a sense of simple failure in the production of those same states. Rather, it is overdetermined by a condition of differentiation in the representation of reality. The origins of that differentiation of representation appear to lie deep within the modernist project. In the Place of Utopia explores how that condition of representation might be animated anew by the discursive circuits through which modernity has come to operate, so as to enliven the ability of transformative ideas to lever change from within a range of organic crises current to the world system: the financialisation of global capitalism; the subsumption of worker subjectivities to the logic of capital; the broadening of the metabolic rift through industrial-capitalism. Central to this animation of transformative ideas is the relationship between language andthe body.

    Description: Dieses Open-Access-Buch bietet eine Einführung in den Identitätskonflikt zwischen Verteidigern und Entdeckern. Basierend auf einer Studie mit 5000 Befragten aus vier europäischen Ländern zeigen die Autoren, dass sich Verteidiger und Entdecker im Hinblick auf ihre Zugehörigkeitskonzepte und das Ausmaß wahrgenommener Bedrohung durch Muslime und Geflüchtete unterscheiden. Differenzen zwischen beiden Gruppen lassen sich auch für die jeweils wahrgenommene gesellschaftliche Marginalisierung und politische Repräsentation finden. Die Studie weist zudem nach, dass mit verschiedenen Positionen im Identitätskonflikt auch unterschiedliche Konzepte von Demokratie verbunden werden.

    Description: This open access book provides new methodological and theoretical insights into temporal reference and its linguistic expression, from a cross-linguistic experimental corpus pragmatics approach. Verbal tenses, in general, and more specifically the categories of tense, grammatical and lexical aspect are treated as cohesion ties contributing to the temporal coherence of a discourse, as well as to the cognitive temporal coherence of the mental representations built in the language comprehension process. As such, it investigates the phenomenon of temporal reference at the interface between corpus linguistics, theoretical linguistics and pragmatics, experimental pragmatics, psycholinguistics, natural language processing and machine translation.
