    Beschreibung: ¿A quién le importamos los ciudadanos? Muchos partidos y sindicatos parecen reducirse a cúpulas que se distribuyen prebendas. Desde la expansión de la videopolítica, la televisión canaliza quejas y críticas sociales a los gobernantes tratándonos como espectadores. Las redes prometen horizontalidad y participación, pero suelen generar movimientos de alta intensidad y corta duración. Nuestras opiniones y comportamientos, capturados por algoritmos, quedan subordinados a corporaciones globalizadas. El espacio público se vuelve opaco y lejano. La desciudadanización se radicaliza, mientras algunos sectores se reinventan y ganan batallas parciales. Pero los usos neoliberales de las tecnologías mantienen y ahondan las desigualdades mayores. ¿Qué alternativas tenemos ante esta desposesión? ¿Disidencias, hackeos? ¿Cuál es el lugar del voto, esa relación entre Estado y sociedad reprogramada por las tecnologías y el mercado?

    Beschreibung: This book suggests the importance of examining alternative discourses in the social sciences, in this case economics, beyond western-centric cultural milieu. The account attempts to unveil the existence of a post Second World War economic approach developed in Latin America. The perspective questioned the dominant economic science disseminated within and outside the Anglo-Saxon or Eurocentric countries (western-centric academia) during the 1950´s. Today, after the appalling cataclysms in welfare and equality generated by neoclassical economics, an alternative economics seems order in the Northern and Southern hemisphere. The rebirth of Latin American Structuralism within the developing countries, and the widely publicized names of Raúl Prebisch, Celso Furtado among others, within the western-centric audiences requires an up to date of the vocabulary and concepts. Retrospectively these authors discussed can be examined as the original sources in Latin America among those who developed the basis of decolonial thought. The book problematizes the domestication of Latin American Structuralism in the Northern or Southern hemisphere alike and discusses its potential similarities to Post-Keynesian perspectives related to power asymmetries among countries, firms, and heterogenous agents.

    Beschreibung: Has the quality of life of indigenous peoples in Latin America improved after three decades in which legislation has been built that recognizes them? Statistical information and the increase in social conflict in indigenous territories leads to a negative answer to this question. This essay is a critical reflection on the exhaustion of the multicultural moment in Latin America from the dialogue with the critical thinking that has emerged from the movements themselves, especially from activists and intellectuals who denounce the relationship between recognition policies and extractivist capitalism, resisting the colonialist images that these policies reproduce because they deny the historicity and political potential of their peoples.
    Beschreibung: ¿Ha mejorado la calidad de vida de los pueblos indígenas en América Latina luego de tres décadas en las que se ha construido una legislación que los reconoce? La información estadística y el aumento de la conflictividad social en los territorios indígenas conduce a responder negativamente esa interrogante. Este ensayo es una reflexión crítica sobre el agotamiento del momento multicultural en América Latina a partir del diálogo con el pensamiento crítico que ha surgido de los propios movimientos, especialmente de activistas e intelectuales que denuncian la relación que existe entre políticas de reconocimiento y capitalismo extractivista, resistiéndose a las imágenes colonialistas que esas políticas reproducen por cuanto niegan la historicidad y el potencial político de sus pueblos.

    Beschreibung: El objetivo principal de esta obra es reconstruir los procesos migratorios que llevaron a los migrantes de la ex Unión de Repúblicas Socialistas Soviéticas, a residir en Bucaramanga (Colombia). Así mismo, se indaga sobre la falsa creencia de que en Colombia no existe la inmigración y el vacío en la producción académica frente a este tema, que suele centrarse en las personas que dejan el país y no en quienes llegan. Por otro lado, se indaga sobre el hecho de que la literatura sobre el tema obedece más a investigaciones de tipo histórico. Metodológicamente, este estudio se sustentó en el uso de historias de curso de vida basados en los supuestos de Howard Becker, donde el uso de historias de vida permite aproximarse a cuestiones subjetivas de los investigados, sus experiencias, sus motivaciones y la interpretación que estos tienen de su realidad.

    Beschreibung: The volume that the reader has in his hands (or on his screen) constitutes a selection of the studies presented at the international congress “1820. The Illusion of Freedom. Revolutionary liberalism in Spain and America in the 1920s ”, held in Las Cabezas de San Juan and Seville in March 2020, as a way to reflect (and celebrate, of course) the bicentennial of the revolution that began the so-called Liberal Triennium Spanish. The anniversary functioned as an excuse to analyze relevant problems of the present. In this case, the congress returned to the links between a stagnant society, which had nothing else to offer, and one of the most important revolutions that took place in the Iberian Peninsula. This was done through the presentation of a set of investigations that addressed the economic, political, social and cultural aspects of the Spanish revolution of 1820, and that crossed the Ibero-American world in the first half of the 19th century. It was a collective effort, which we hope we have embodied in this compilation.

Los trabajos reunidos en este volumen tienen en común no sólo su preocupación por rescatar la historia del socialismo y del movimiento obrero, sino su enfoque explícitamente marxista. El marxismo es mucho más que un marco teórico académico: es una guía para la acción revolucionaria. El propósito de estos ensayos, por ende, no es sólo aplicar las herramientas teóricas del materialismo histórico al análisis de distintos aspectos de la historia del socialismo y de la teoría marxista, sino ante todo contribuir a la lucha por la emancipación de los trabajadores de la explotación capitalista.

    Beschreibung: El volumen que el lector posee en sus manos (o en su pantalla) constituye una selección de los estudios presentados en el congreso internacional “1820. La Ilusión de la Libertad. El liberalismo revolucionario en España y América en los años veinte”, realizado en Las Cabezas de San Juan y Sevilla en marzo de 2020, como forma de reflexionar (y celebrar, por supuesto) el bicentenario del Trienio Liberal español, atendiendo no sólo a sus implicancias en la Península Ibérica, sino especialmente a su impacto en América. La efeméride funcionó, entonces, como una excusa para analizar problemas relevantes del pasado y el presente. En este caso, los vínculos entre una sociedad estancada, y que ya nada más tenía para ofrecer, y una de las revoluciones más importantes que se desenvolvió a lo largo y ancho de Iberoamérica. Esto se hizo por medio de la presentación de un conjunto de investigaciones que atendieron a los aspectos económicos, políticos, sociales y culturales de la revolución de 1820. Se trató de un esfuerzo colectivo, que esperamos haber plasmado en esta compilación.

    Beschreibung: Este libro examina las ideas que forman parte del pensa­miento político, económico y filosófico latinoamericano que se convirtieron en referencia para el MIR chileno. Se describe y problematiza la relación que existía entre los científicos sociales latinoamericanos y la organización revolucionaria, diferenciando entre quienes cumplían un rol de referentes y quienes eran militantes del MIR. Para esto, se analizan las redes intelectuales que permitían la difusión del pensamiento a nivel general en América Latina, así como los lazos que habían establecido los intelectuales miristas con sus símiles latinoamericanos. A la par, se definen los roles que cumplían en la organización dichos intelectuales, así como la existencia de una política del MIR sobre este sujeto específico. En términos más amplios, interesa saber de qué manera el pensamiento social latinoamericano aportó a la definición del MIR y cómo la organización revolucionaria aportó, a su vez, al pensamiento político local.

Frente a la consolidación del modelo de acumulación extractivista, se multiplican las luchas por la tierra y el territorio, y proliferan los estudios sobre el tema. En ese marco, el présente texto exhibe los complejos vínculos entre condiciones materiales y dimensiones simbólicas. Se trata del territorio como sitio-objeto de producción y expresión, pero también como conjunto de símbolos y percepciones compartidas. Ciertamente el territorio es habitado por la memoria, la experiencia y el proyecto de los pueblos.     Beschreibung: América Latina atraviesa una marcada crisis ambiental, que está llevando al subcontinente a un colapso, entendido este como un cambio en la sociedad, y en la forma de vivir en la actualidad. Esta crisis ecológica se ha visto ahondada con la profundización del modelo económico neoliberal y del neoextractivismo, el cual ha generado una disputa por los bienes comunes. Al mismo tiempo en distintos territorios de la región se están desarrollando alternativas agroecológicas, cooperativas, redes de economía solidaria, eco-tecnologías apropiadas y nuevas construcciones societales basadas en paradigmas como el buen vivir, que van sembrando esperanzas de evitar el colapso, bajo el desarrollo de sociedades en movimiento que reflexionan y actúan en defensa de la madre tierra.

    Beschreibung: La violación de las más elementales reglas de la democracia y del estado de derecho, la tortura, la desaparición, el asesinato y las violaciones de género fueron prácticas corrientes de la historia de América Latina que vivió dictaduras cívico-militares en los años 70. Las transiciones políticas de los años 80-90 promovieron reformas institucionales para reforzar la democracia recuperada y procesos de justicia transicional en nombre de la verdad, memoria, justicia y reparación, las cuales se han tomado como modelo para el reciente proceso de paz en Colombia. El presente volumen recoge ensayos de estudiosos italianos y extranjeros que reconstruyen desde perpectivas socio-jurídicas estos procesos. Las formas de testimonio que se perfilan son obras diferentes de las de ‘literatura testimonial’ en el sentido estricto del término, porque surgen de las aulas judiciales y de los informes de las comisiones de verdad, y se imponen como verdades respaldadas por la actuación de la jurisprudencia, que las defiende de los asaltos del olvido y de la impunidad.

Las propuestas alternativas que fueron representadas por los denominados gobiernos progresistas en América Latina, en lo fundamental, fracasaron en términos de los objetivos que se transformadores que se propusieron. La incapacidad de la izquierda »oficial« para reflexionar crítica y autocríticamente sobre estas experiencias impide aprender de éstas, con lo cual no puede sino profundizarse la crisis de dicha izquierda como alternativa al capitalismo y, más ampliamente, a civilización en crisis.

    Beschreibung: In contemporary societies we see a state of social inequality as in the old regime: the accumulation of wealth in 1% of the population, multimillionaires as presidents, the increase in luxury consumption, the emergence of a culture of distinction, as well as the concentration of the earth and the spatial segregation. To understand these phenomena in a coherent interpretative framework, this essay proposes the hypothesis that in the early 21st century we are experiencing a new combination of refeudalization at the global level, but with specific regional features. In Latin America, this concept is particularly useful for understanding the return of the right to power after a period of leftist governments.
    Beschreibung: En las sociedades contemporáneas constatamos un estado de desigualdad social como en el viejo régimen: la acumulación de la riqueza en el 1% de la población, multimillonarios como presidentes, el aumento en el consumo de lujo, el surgimiento de una cultura de distinción, así como la concentración de la tierra y la segregación espacial. Para comprender estos fenómenos en un marco interpretativo coherente, este ensayo plantea la hipótesis de que en el temprano siglo XXI vivimos una nueva combinación de refeudalización a nivel global, pero con rasgos regionales específicos. En América Latina este concepto es particularmente útil para entender el regreso de la derecha al poder después de una época de gobiernos de izquierda.

    Beschreibung: Esta colección tiene como objetivo publicar volúmenes que expresen las reuniones de figuras de diferentes regiones del Sur. Especialmente, reuniendo trabajos presentados allí donde estas personas han realizado sus exposiciones e intercambiado sus ideas cara a cara y voz a voz. Por ello, no se trata simplemente de reunir artículos procedentes de diversas regiones de personas que nunca se conocieron, sino mostrar estas reuniones y potenciar otros encuentros, con publicaciones que les otorguen nuevo impulso. La publicación viene a ser un acto segundo, respecto del encuentro físico. Articular las intelectualidades de los sures es una tarea inmensa, que ha tenido sucesivos fracasos y algunos pequeños logros. El mayor obstáculo para articularnos ha sido la falta de interés que mostramos unas por otras, cuestión derivada del desconocimiento mutuo, del aislamiento y del peso desmedido que, en los imaginarios, poseen las intelectualidades del centro. A esto se suman, en segundo plano, la escasez de recursos económicos y cierta debilidad de las instituciones académicas. Los trabajos publicados en esta colección normalmente no se traducirán, precisamente para reconocer y explicitar que estas conversaciones obligatoriamente deberán darse de forma políglota, aunque normalmente se trate de las lenguas de las colonizaciones.

    Beschreibung: La determinación adoptada por los gobiernos de la región para conmemorar el inicio de los movimientos y guerras que condujeron a la mayor parte de los países que hoy llamamos Latinoamérica a alcanzar la independencia del yugo colonial, fue un acuerdo basado más en la coincidencia o cercanía de algunas fechas que en una simultaneidad estrictamente cronológica. Este volumen da cuenta de las anticipaciones, retrasos y continuidades de un proceso emancipatorio aún por completar; de la participación que en él tuvieron y tienen las mujeres, de sus liderazgos, vivencias, estrategias y perspectivas; así como de su representación por la literatura y el arte, y de su apreciación por la historiografía de más variada naturaleza o por quienes descubren las entretelas y la manipulación de estas efemérides. Los textos aquí reunidos se dividen en dos secciones: la primera agrupa a los que se relacionan con distintos momentos del proceso de emancipación latinoamericana y de sus mujeres; la segunda, sobre distintas escritoras italianas contemporáneas, está dedicada a Alba de Céspedes, autora de origen cubano que vivió entre Roma y París, y cuyo abuelo iniciara las guerras de independencia de la Isla en 1868. La valiosa concurrencia de firmas internacionales en esta miscelánea se debe al auspicio del Programa de Estudios de la Mujer de la prestigiosa institución cultural Casa de las Américas de Cuba, destinado a dar visibilidad a la trayectoria histórica y, a las manifestaciones culturales de las mujeres latinoamericanas y caribeñas, a promover el trabajo de sus artistas y escritoras contemporáneas, así como a discutir los temas teóricos correspondientes, y sus contextos de producción y recepción.

    Beschreibung: This study re-examines and contextualises Eduard Seler's investigations in the Chaculá-Region (Department of Huehuetenango, Guatemala). Starting with a discussion of ethnohistory as well as the historical circumstances of Seler's research, his methods are critically examined in the context of archaeology in late 19th century Guatemala and the practice of collecting by European museums, specifically the Ethnological Museum Berlin. This is followed by the results of a reconnaissance of the different archaeological sites documented by Seler in the region, in which their current state of preservation is examined and Seler's excavation trenches are re-discovered. The core of the work is a new study of the materials from the region in the collection of the Ethnological Museum Berlin, including previously undocumented ceramic materials. Through typological cross-dating, a first ceramic chronology for the region is established, showing that the major settlements were occupied from the Late Classic (600-900) to the Early Postclassic (900-1250). These data and observations form the foundation for a re-examination of the interpretations put forth by Eduard Seler and later scholars, concerning topics such as architecture, burials and caches, the function of the Quen Santo caves, ritual and settlement continuity from the Late Classic to modern times and the ethnolinguistic identity of the ancient inhabitants of the region. The book concludes with a look at the postcolonial challenges that the collection in Berlin faces and ways to connect the archaeological past with the indigenous present in the Chaculá-Region.

Juan Miguel Chávez and Gonzalo García propose that the desire for authenticity continues to operate in the proposals current that have revitalized the tradition of the essay; even more, they point out that it is a recursive topic in the history of comings whose.     Beschreibung: Colombia ha enfrentado una historia de violencia y desigualdad, con líderes asesinados, masacres y abusos perpetrados por grupos paramilitares, guerrillas y fuerzas estatales. Un ejemplo reciente son las manifestaciones del paro nacional a finales de abril de 2021, surgidas por el aumento de impuestos de productos esenciales y que fueron marcadas por la brutal represión policial. La violencia y despojo de tierras han sido experiencias cotidianas en la vida de muchos colombianos, particularmente en las zonas rurales y empobrecidas. En este libro, Eduardo Restrepo argumenta que la desigualdad y violencia en Colombia están arraigadas en un orden moral jerarquizado que produce existencias »dispensables«, marcadas por el desprecio y la indiferencia. Aunque el análisis se centra en ese país, sugiere que esta dinámica también puede ser relevante en otros países de América Latina. Restrepo aboga por la importancia de un compromiso ético-político en la elaboración de narrativas más comprensivas sobre los problemas sociales y las luchas por el cambio.

Durante siglos el uso del Yo, como voz referencial de autor fue una entidad privilegiada mediante relatos impresos elaborados por los propios protagonistas mientras se daba por sentado que el resto de vidas solo merecían permanecer confinadas en ámbitos estrictamente privados por ser consideradas vacías, vulgares, irrelevantes, dignas de ínfima atención pública. Gerardo Cham aborda los casos de tres autores y a una autora, cuyas narrativas testimoniales tuvieron gran difusión desde que fueron escritas: Olaudah Equiano, Mary Prince, Juan Francisco Manzano y Mahomma Gardo Baquaqua.

El extractivismo toma diversas formas, pero el epicentro en su más reciente encarnación es América Latina. La región ha sido el principal blanco de sus impactos socioecológicos negativos, pero también el escenario de las fuerzas más poderosas de resistencia. El autor aborda tres dimensiones críticas de este proceso, incluyendo la nueva geoeconomía y geopolítica del capital, las resistencias en la frontera extractiva y las alternativas propuestas por los gobiernos formados en el »ciclo progresista« en la política, y construidos desde abajo por las comunidades indígenas y no indígenas en la frontera. Finalmente, cierra con una reflexión sobre la posibilidad de una transición postextractivista a un otro mundo de solidaridad social y armonía con la naturaleza, en condiciones de justicia social y ecológica.

A la vez, propone nuevas perspectivas en tiempos de crisis de la categoría: la pregunta central es ¿qué significa hoy lo popular? La relación entre las culturas populares y la cultura de masas ha cambiado radicalmente en este siglo, de un modo que los textos clásicos no podían prever. La cultura de masas se ha transformado en el gran organizador y jerarquizador cultural; pero las culturas populares siguen señalando en América Latina un exceso, algo que persiste fuera de lo mediático. Y lo que permanece inalterable, aunque con ropajes siempre renovados, es la desigualdad material y simbólica. The new Latin American oligarchies are based on a purely formalist democracy, while old and new methods of social and political exclusion continue to be practiced, the regressive redistribution of wealth that has characterized the region since the Second World War has worsened starting from the 80’s, facilitating the emergence of those powerful oligarchic groups in which political power is combined, as in classical models, with financial power.

    Beschreibung: En esta obra se aborda la situación de violencia y desigualdad que enfrentan los periodistas en América Latina, centrándose en el caso de México por ser este el país en donde se ha asesinado a un mayor número de comunicadores en los últimos 22 años. El enfoque se dirige hacia los periodistas de frontera, aquellos que trabajan en los márgenes físicos, políticos, económicos, culturales y tecnológicos de un territorio, y cuya condición no puede entenderse únicamente como un reflejo de lo que ocurre a nivel nacional o internacional, ya que presentan características propias y particularidades que los modelos existentes no logran explicar. Además, se explora el contexto histórico y político en el que los periodistas han ejercido su labor, incluyendo las transiciones democráticas y los regímenes autoritarios, y se destaca el impacto de la guerra contra el narcotráfico en la violencia ejercida hacia ellos en México. La autora enfatiza en la necesidad de adoptar nuevos marcos de análisis para comprender la situación de los periodistas de frontera, tomando en cuenta los márgenes del estado, la esfera pública a nivel microlocal y la capacidad que tienen para enfrentar las crisis.

Este ensayo toma inspiración de esa obra importante de Winter, rastreando lo que él llama las »visiones de transformación parcial«, que coexistían temporalmente con las grandes narrativas de transformación social, pero después perdieron su lugar propio en el record histórico. Trabajadores agrícolas en Chinandega, minifundistas en Morazán, y obreros fabriles en Montevideo, en medio de graves crisis sociales-económicas y políticas conquistaron espacios para defenderse, pero también de crear nuevas relaciones sociales y una experiencia de trabajo colectiva y libertadora.

    Beschreibung: Abordar la existencia de unas clases medias negras en Colombia no sólo es difícil sino un aparente contrasentido, un oxímoron, porque la gente negra es imaginada como inevitablemente pobre y de »clase baja«. Pero ¿acaso no existen otras experiencias de clase dentro de esta población? Para responder al vacío investigativo sobre este grupo social este libro examina la configuración de las clases medias negras desde finales de los años treinta del siglo xx, a partir de las historias de vida de miembros de tres generaciones de familias originarias de la región del Pacífico y el Caribe que se identifican como parte de esta clase. Esta indagación se hace desde una perspectiva interseccional, que asume que no se puede entender el funcionamiento de las relaciones de poder que dan forma a estas experiencias desde un solo marco explicativo (de clase, género o raza), y que para hacerlo se deben considerar sus mutuas interrelaciones y afectaciones.

    Beschreibung: At the end of 2017, the Research Network on Work, Gender and Daily Life was created, with the support of the Ibero-American Postgraduate University Association (AUIP). 44 researchers from 19 universities in 11 Latin American countries participated in its initial constitution. After almost 6 years, this network has doubled in size: close to a hundred participants, in 36 universities and 13 countries in the region. This journey has allowed consolidated and training researchers to be convened at the end of 2022 to publish recent findings on the dynamics of gender inequalities in the productive and reproductive sphere. The result is condensed in this volume, which also constitutes an invitation for future collaborations and dialogues between the world of scientific knowledge and the social reality of women and dissidents in Ibero-America.
