The Influence of Hydrostatic Pressure on the Mechanical Properties of Hardened Rolling Bearing Steel 100 Cr6The paper describes the influence of hydrostatic pressure on the mechanical properties of differently heat-treated rolling bearing steel 100Cr6 based on the triaxial stressing in elements in rolling contact. It is illustrated that hydrostatic pressure superposed on tension changes the data of the tension test depending on the state of the material. While the yield point is not influenced by the pressure, the resistance to fracture and the ductility considerably increase under pressure the increase under pressure being dependent on the heat treatment. The test results show that an optimum adjustment of the heat treatment is possible only if the test conditions reflect the real field conditions. Finally, the applicability of some of the results to the behaviour of material in rolling contact is discussed.
Notes:
