    Description: A new species, Rubus ramachandrae, from Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, India is described and illustrated. It is closely similar to R. stipulosus and R. fuscifolius but differs by densely bristly or hirsute branches; narrowly ovate or oblong-lanceolate leaves with caudate-acuminate apex and adaxially hirsutulous vesture; abaxially grey tomentose intermixed with hirsutulous hairs; larger size of stipules and bracts with distinct margin and vesture; smaller size of floral structure. The distinct foliar as well as floral morphology of R. ramachandrae differs from all previously described species of Rubus. Differences in key morphological characters of R. ramachandrae, R. stipulosus and R. fuscifolius are also tabulated. In addition, pollen morphology is described based on light (LM) and scanning electron (SEM) microscopy. Based on the presence of straggling shrubby habit, free stipules, simple leaves, reflexed and strong needle shaped prickles, the new taxon is assigned to Rubus subg. Malachobatus. An image of the type specimen; digital images of habit, stipule, inflorescence and flower, a detailed illustration and scanned electron microscope images of pollens are provided.

    Description: The Crepidorhopalon whytei (Linderniaceae) species complex is revised using morphological analyses. Based primarily on variations in indumentum, floral morphology, corolla colour and seed morphology, four species are formally recognised within this group in eastern Africa. Crepidorhopalon whytei s.str. is widespread in the highlands of eastern Africa, extending from South Sudan and Ethiopia in the north through to western Tanzania in the south. A new combination in Crepidorhopalon is made for Lindernia flava (= C. flavus), which is confined to the Manica Highlands of the Mozambique-Zimbabwe border. Two new species are described, C. namuliensis which is known only from Mt Namuli in northern Mozambique and C. kwaleensis which is known only from the coastal lowlands of southeast Kenya. A fifth, imperfectly known species is documented from the Nguru Mountains of Tanzania where it is so far known from a single collection. Three names are lectotypified. The habitat requirements and distribution are documented and the extinction risk is assessed for each species. Crepidorhopalon flavus is assessed as globally Vulnerable and C. kwaleensis as globally Endangered, while C. namuliensis and C. whytei are currently considered to be of Least Concern, although the latter is declining markedly in parts of its range. The botanical importance of the key sites for the newly recognised taxa is discussed.

    Description: A deciduous shrub previously included in Ficus talbotii for many years, is now regarded as a new species, Ficus pongumphaii. It is morphologically distinct from F. talbotii with as typical characters the densely brown pubescent to tomentose or villous on leafy twig; the elliptic, suborbicular to obovate leaf blades that are brown tomentellous on the upper surface and brown floccose tomentose to villous underneath; the pedunculate figs are obovate, brown floccose or villous outside and have internal hairs. The leaf anatomy shows a multiple epidermis on both surfaces; enlarged lithocysts on both sides of the lamina, which are more abundant adaxially and with very few abaxially. The species, endemic to Thailand, is named after the great Thai dendrologist, Associate Professor Somnuek Pongumphai.

    Description: Empogona jenniferae is described from the upper quartzitic slopes of Mt Chimanimani on both sides of the Zimbabwe-Mozambique border, a prospective Tropical Important Plant Area. Its conservation status is assessed as Critically Endangered under the 2012 IUCN criteria. A figure and notes on the endemic plant species of Chimanimani are provided. Two additional names in Empogona, E. congesta and E. congesta subsp. chasei are published.

    Description: In order to recognise both taxa previously regarded as varieties of Heliotropium baclei, nowadays classified in Euploca, a new combination is necessary. As the two varieties are clearly separable in terms of morphology and biogeography, we propose to raise these varieties to the species level, for which the new combination Euploca katangensis needs to be created. Moreover, we propose the new combination Euploca madagascariensis for Heliotropium madagascariense, a species from Madagascar considered by some as conspecific with H. baclei, but treated here as distinct. For these three species with beaked fruits, constituting the ‘Euploca baclei complex’, a key and a distribution map, based on revised herbarium specimens, is given. Two additional combinations, Euploca bullockii and Euploca sessilistigma are made to complete the transfer of tropical African Heliotropium species that belong in Euploca.

    Description: Within the morphologically diverse pantropical genus Phyllanthus, many subgenera, sections and subsections are recognized. While most taxonomic revisions often focus on local floras, closely related and often resembling species are not always treated in full. Subgenus Macraea is here revised for the first time over its whole distribution, including an identification key and descriptions of its species with distributions, ecology, uses and vernacular names. The currently acknowledged varieties of Phyllanthus distichus are rejected due to inadequate morphological differences. Phyllanthus panayensis is synonymized with P. lancifolius. Phyllanthus alpestris has now become a variety of P. glaucophyllus because of the resemblance in morphology and distribution. The species complex around Phyllanthus virgatus remains taxonomically difficult, but Phyllanthus virgatus var. gardnerianus and Phyllanthus virgatus var. hirtellus are here recognized on the species level as P. gardnerianus, stat nov. and P. tararae, stat & nom. nov. A new species from the Philippines, Phyllanthus ridsdalei, is described

    Description: A taxonomic revision of Flemingia subg. Rhynchosioides based on morphology and molecular information (matK and ITS) is presented. The subgenus comprises six herbaceous taxa (F. gracilis, F. mukerjeeana, F. nilgheriensis, F. rollae, F. tuberosa and F. vestita). All species except F. vestita are endemic to India. Morphological evidence and molecular phylogeny revealed that the subgenus is monophyletic. Nevertheless, the systematic position of F. tuberosa remains unclear on account of its unique ecology and inflorescence. A new species, F. mukerjeeana, is described and four binomials, namely F. gracilis, F. nilgheriensis, F. tuberosa and F. vestita have been lectotypified. Furthermore, all species have been described, illustrated and their ecology discussed. A taxonomic key including the recently described species from Thailand, F. sirindhorniae, is also provided for easy identification

    Description: In preparing the treatment of Dracaena for Flore du Gabon and Flore d’Afrique centrale, a relatively high number of taxonomic and nomenclatural novelties were discovered; these are presented here. Within Dracaena five species and one forma are described as new, D. bushii, D. haemanthoides, D. marina, D. wakaensis, D. waltersiae and D. laxissima forma aureilicia. Each new species is provided with a full description and taxonomic notes. Apart from that, five species are reinstated, D. braunii, D. nitens, D. perrottetii, D. tholloniana and D. usambarensis. A further 23 names are treated here as a synonym for the first time: D. bequaertii, D. buettneri, D. cuspidibracteata, D. densifolia, D. gabonica, D. gazensis, D. ledermannii, D. letestui, D. litoralis, D. longipetiolata, D. monostachya var. angolensis, D. oddonii, D. perrottetii var. minor, D. poggei, D. pseudoreflexa, D. reflexa var. buchneri, D. rubroaurantiaca, D. soyauxiana, D. talbotii, D. tessmannii, D. usambarensis var. longifolia, D. vanderystii and Pleomele heudelotii, while for four names a neotype and for 14 names a lectotype has been designated. Distribution maps are provided for a total of 23 species. An index of taxon names is included.
