Beschreibung: Monitoring of toxic phytoplankton in gulf of Gabes is lunched since 10 years ago and has generated a considerable bank of data. That permit to us to understand many interactions between species in this community but we hope to be able to construct of the model of management of shellfish exploitation. To succeed to this goal, these data had to be treated, analyze bio statistically and must be showed in simple and questionable configuration which we have defined in present work. Data base lodged in Web site has been rectified, arranged and then exported towards Accesses. That extrapolation permits us to carry out the statistical analyses (ACP, AFC, and ANOVA) and to formulate the correlations between the different parameters selected. For the cartography we had recourse to ARC GIS and ARC VIEW to obtain the demonstratives form of the fluctuations of some species. In Gabes gulf, 5 regions could be individualised but a great number of production area are regrouped in a same pole, denoting of low ecological variability between different coasts. Phytoplankton in gulf seems be also conditioned by climatic periods.

Beschreibung: Agriculture and industrial development have led to inadvertent changes in the natural carbon cycle. As a consequence, concentrations of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases have increased in the atmosphere and may lead to changes in climate. The current challenge facing society is to develop options for future management of the carbon cycle. A variety of approaches has been suggested: direct reduction of emissions, deliberate manipulation of the natural carbon cycle to enhance sequestration, and capture and isolation of carbon from fossil fuel use. Policy development to date has laid out some of the general principles to which carbon management should adhere. These are summarized as: how much carbon is stored, by what means, and for how long. To successfully manage carbon for climate purposes requires increased understanding of carbon cycle dynamics and improvement in the scientific capabilities available for measurement as well as for policy needs. The specific needs for scientific information to underpin carbon cycle management decisions are not yet broadly known. A stronger dialogue between decision makers and scientists must be developed to foster improved application of scientific knowledge to decisions. This review focuses on the current knowledge of the carbon cycle, carbon measurement capabilities (with an emphasis on the continental scale) and the relevance of carbon cycle science to carbon sequestration goals.

Beschreibung: We study the liquid-crystalline phase behavior of a concentrated suspension of helical flagella isolated from Salmonella typhimurium. Flagella are prepared with different polymorphic states, some of which have a pronounced helical character while others assume a rodlike shape. We show that the static phase behavior and dynamics of chiral helices are very different when compared to simpler achiral hard rods. With increasing concentration, helical flagella undergo an entropy-driven first order phase transition to a liquid-crystalline state having a novel chiral symmetry.
