Description: Raw data acquired by position sensors on board RV METEOR during expedition M196 were processed to receive a validated master track which can be used as reference of further expedition data. During M196 the motion reference unit Kongsberg SeaTex AS MRU-5 combined with Kongsberg SeaTex AS Seapath 320 and two C and C Technologies GPS receivers C-NAV3050 were used as navigation sensors. Data were downloaded from DAVIS SHIP data base (https://dship.bsh.de) with a resolution of 1 sec. Processing and evaluation of the data is outlined in the data processing report. Processed data are provided as a master track with 1 sec resolution derived from the position sensors' data selected by priority and a generalized track with a reduced set of the most significant positions of the master track.

Description: Current velocities of the upper water column along the cruise track of R/V Alkor cruise AL593 were collected by a vessel-mounted 600 kHz RDI Workhorse ADCP. The ADCP transducer was located at 4.2 m below the water line. The instrument was operated in high-res., shallow water profiling mode (WM 12) with a bin size of 0.50 m, a blanking distance of 0.88 m, and a total of 90 bins, covering the depth range between 5.7 m and 50.2 m. Four consecutive pings were considered to form one ensemble average. Beam velocities as recorded by the data acquisition software WinRiver2 were transformed to ship coordinates and after merging with the navigation data from the ship's gyro compass and Global Positioning systems into earth coordinates. Single-ping data were screened for bottom signals and, where appropriate, a bottom mask was manually processed. The ADCP was configured to measure bottom-track velocities, which were converted from beam to earth coordinates in the same manner as the water profile velocities. For each ping, the bottom-track velocity components were subtracted from the velocity profile to eliminate the ship movements and obtain true water velocities. The velocity data were averaged in time using an average interval of 60 s. Velocity quality flagging is based on different threshold criteria: Depth cells with ensemble-averaged percent-good values below 25% are marked as 'bad data'. Depth cells with velocities above 1.0 m/s are flagged as 'bad data'. Depth cells with a root-mean-square deviation between the measured ensemble-average velocity and a cell-wise running-mean velocity above 0.3 m/s are flagged as 'probably bad data'.

Description: The CTD data on cruise M164 contain oceanic measurements of temperature, salinity, oxygen and pressure at 126 stations. The data were collected with the research vessel Meteor during cruise M164: Region: subpolar North Atlantic, 9°W-47°W, 45°N-53°N; Ports: Emden - Emden; Date: June 23 - July 31, 2020 . The data where collected by a CTD device of type SBE 9. The CTD was mounted to a metal frame with 22 water sample bottles, which was lowered from the sea surface down to 10 m above the seafloor. The sampling frequency was 24 Hz, the raw data were then interpolated on 1 dbar intervals. Salinity and oxygen data from the CTD were calibrated by comparison with samples from the water bottles. The bottle salinity was analysed by a salinometer of type Guildline Autosal 8400A, bottle oxygen samples by Winkler titration. The accuracy of the calibrated CTD measurements is: 1 dbar for pressure, 0.001 °C for temperature, 0.0025 for salinity, 3.0 µmol/kg for oxygen. Detailed information can be found in the cruise report: https://doi.org/10.48433/cr_m164.

Description: Particle number size distributions (PNSD) in the mobility diameter range of 10 nm to 800 nm were measured using a Mobility Particle Size Spectrometer (MPSS, TROPOS-built; Wiedensohler et al., 2012). During HALO–(AC)³, the MPSS was situated in the aerosol rack (with a compact filter sampler and a miniature CCN counter) onboard Polar 6 and permanently connected to the standard aerosol inlet (Leaitch et al., 2016). Near isokinetic sampling was established for the majority of the flight time by restricting the total aerosol flow through the sampling line (outer diameter 0.75 inch) with the help of a valve. With this, an upper cut-off diameter of roughly 4 µm could be achieved. Each scan of the entire particle size range took approximately 5 min. Data are provided as bin-wise log-normal particle number (dN/dlogDp) for P6 RF01–13. For each of the 40 size bins, the bin's midpoint diameter (Dp) is given. The start and end of each scan is given. Each PNSD was integrated over all Dp to obtain the total particle number concentration (Ntotal). A data flag is given to indicate when sampling was under near-isokinetic conditions. For each scan, the given geolocation is the centroid of P6's flighttrack within the scan's duration. Analogous, the given altitude is the mean altitude of P6 over each scan's duration. All concentration values have been corrected to standard conditions (1013.0 hPa and 273.15 K).

Description: This data contains monitoring data of the RV ALKOR cruise AL606 conducted in January 2024 (January 22nd – January 20th) in the Western Baltic Sea by the University of Hamburg. The cruise was part of the 5-year monitoring programme Winter cod 2021-25 (Monitoring winter spawning activity of Western Baltic cod (Gadus morhua) (2021-25)) of the University of Hamburg aiming at investigating the early-winter spawning activity of Western Baltic cod to identify potential climate-induced shifts in spawning phenology. The data set includes station data (i.e. action log) of the cruise.
