Notes: Abstract Since general relativity may be regarded as a non-Abelian gauge theory obtained by gauging the Lorentz group, one may obtain its q-deformation by gauging the q-Lorentz group. The q-dependent action resulting from this construction describes interacting gravitational and spinor fields. This action is invariant under nonlocal q-transformations.

Notes: Abstract We construct quantum operators solving the quantum versions of the Sturm-Liouville equation and the resolvent equation, and show the existence of conserved currents. The construction depends on the following input data: the basic quantum field O(k) and the regularization.

Notes: Abstract A quantum deformation of the Virasoro algebra is defined. The Kac determinants at arbitrary levels are conjectured. We construct a bosonic realization of the quantum deformed Virasoro algebra. Singular vectors are expressed by the Macdonald symmetric functions. This is proved by constructing screening currents acting on the bosonic Fock space.

Notes: Abstract By deforming the Hamiltonian of a spinless particle in a central potential we set up su q (2)-invariant Schrödinger equations within the usual framework of quantum mechanics. Different deformations correspond to a given Hamiltonian. We explicitly solve different stationary Schrödinger equations for the free particle and for the hydrogen atom, and compare the associated energy spectra.

Notes: Abstract The quantum commutationsRTT=TTR and the orthogonal (symplectic) conditions for the inhomogeneous multiparametricq-groups of theB n ,C n ,D n type are found in terms of theR-matrix ofB n+1 ,C n+1 ,D n+1 .A consistent Hopf structure on these inhomogeneousq-groups is constructed by means of a projection fromB n+1 ,C n+1 ,D n+1 .Real forms are discussed; in particular, we obtain theq-groups ISO q,r (n+1,n−1), including the quantum Poincaré group. The inhomogeneusq-groups do not contain dilatations when the parameters satisfy certain conditions. For example, we find a dilatation-freeq-Poincaré group depending on one real parameterq.

Notes: Abstract We consider the conditions under which the q-oscillator algebra becomes a Hopf *-algebra. In particular, we show that there are at least two real forms associated with the algebra. Furthermore, through the representations, it is shown that they are related to su q1/2(2) with different conjugations.

Notes: Abstract The dually conjugate Hopf superalgebras Fun p,q (GL(1∣1)) and U p,q (gl(1∣1)) are studied using the Frønsdal-Galindo approach and the full Hopf structure of U p,q (gl(1∣1)) is extracted. A finite expression for the universal T-matrix, identified with the dual form and expressing the generalization of the exponential map of the classical groups, is obtained for Fun p,q (GL(1∣1)). In a representation with a colour index, the T-matrix assumes a form that satisfies a coloured graded Yang-Baxter equation.

Notes: Abstract Methods are developed for systematically constructing the finite-dimensional irreducible representations of the super Yangian Y (gl(M|N)) associated with the Lie superalgebra gl(M|N). It is also shown that every finite-dimensional irreducible representation of Y (gl(M|N)) is of highest weight type, and is uniquely characterized by a highest weight. The necessary and sufficient conditions for an irrep to be finite-dimensional are given.

Notes: Abstract A q-difference analog of the sixth Painlevé equation is presented. It arises as the condition for preserving the connection matrix of linear q-difference equations, in close analogy with the monodromy-preserving deformation of linear differential equations. The continuous limit and special solutions in terms of q-hypergeometric functions are also discussed.

Notes: Abstract By weakening the counit and antipode axioms of aC *-Hopf algebra and allowing for the coassociative coproduct to be nonunital, we obtain a quantum group, that we call aweak C *-Hopf algebra, which is sufficiently general to describe the symmetries of essentially arbitrary fusion rules. This amounts to generalizing the Baaj-Skandalis multiplicative unitaries to multipicative partial isometries. Every finite-dimensional weakC *-Hopf algebra has a dual which is again a weakC *-Hopf algebra. An explicit example is presented with Lee-Yang fusion rules. We briefly discuss applications to amalgamated crossed products, doubles, and quantum chains.

Notes: Abstract The relation between the set of transformations $$\mathfrak{M}_q (2)$$ of the quantum plane and the quantum universal enveloping algebra U q (u(2)) is investigated by constructing representations of the factor algebra U q (u(2))* $$\mathfrak{u}(2))$$ . The noncommuting coordinates of $$\mathfrak{M}_q (2)$$ , on which U q (2) * U q (2) acts, are realized as q-spinors with respect to each U q (u(2)) algebra. The representation matrices of U q (2) are constructed as polynomials in these spinor components. This construction allows a derivation of the commutation relations of the noncommuting coordinates of $$\mathfrak{M}_q (2)$$ directly from properties of U q (u(2)). The generalization of these results to U q (u(n)) and $$\mathfrak{M}_q (n)$$ is also discussed.

Notes: Abstract Let $$\mathfrak{g}$$ be a finite-dimensional complex simple Lie algebra and Uq( $$\mathfrak{g}$$ ) the associated quantum group (q is a nonzero complex number which we assume is transcendental). IfV is a finitedimensional irreducible representation of Uq( $$\mathfrak{g}$$ ), an affinization ofV is an irreducible representationVV of the quantum affine algebra Uq( $$\hat {\mathfrak{g}}$$ ) which containsV with multiplicity one and is such that all other irreducible Uq( $$\mathfrak{g}$$ )-components ofV have highest weight strictly smaller than the highest weight λ ofV. There is a natural partial order on the set of Uq( $$\mathfrak{g}$$ ) classes of affinizations, and we look for the minimal one(s). In earlier papers, we showed that (i) if $$\mathfrak{g}$$ is of typeA, B, C, F orG, the minimal affinization is unique up to Uq( $$\mathfrak{g}$$ )-isomorphism; (ii) if $$\mathfrak{g}$$ is of typeD orE and λ is not orthogonal to the triple node of the Dynkin diagram of $$\mathfrak{g}$$ , there are either one or three minimal affinizations (depending on λ). In this paper, we show, in contrast to the regular case, that if Uq( $$\mathfrak{g}$$ ) is of typeD 4 and λ is orthogonal to the triple node, the number of minimal affinizations has no upper bound independent of λ. As a by-product of our methods, we disprove a conjecture according to which, if $$\mathfrak{g}$$ is of typeA n,every affinization is isomorphic to a tensor product of representations of Uq( $$\hat {\mathfrak{g}}$$ ) which are irreducible under Uq( $$\mathfrak{g}$$ ) (in an earlier paper, we proved this conjecture whenn=1).

Notes: Abstract Exponential solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation give rise to generalized Schubert polynomials and corresponding symmetric functions. We provide several descriptions of the local stationary algebra defined by this equation. This allows us to construct various exponential solutions of the YBE. The B n and G 2 cases are also treated.

Notes: Abstract The gauging of free differential algebras (FDA's) produces gauge field theories containing antisymmetric tensors. The FDA's extend the Cartan-Maurer equations of ordinary Lie algebras by incorporating p-form potentials (p〉1). We study here the algebra of FDA transformations. To every p-form in the FDA, we associate an extended Lie derivative l generating a corresponding ‘gauge’ transformation. The field theory based on the FDA is invariant under these new transformations. This gives geometrical meaning to the antisymmetric tensors. The algebra of Lie derivatives is shown to close and provides the dual formulation of FDA's.
