Description:
The analysis was done in the geographical area for the EFREN comprehended between 2° lat N, and 6° lat. N and 82º W, specifically in the zones north of the Colombian Pacific (Cabo Corrientes), line Buenaventura - Malpelo, line Tumaco, studing the surface phytoplankton in two seansong characteristics to the Pacific and having the reference of existing historical data.
The incidence of the environmental parameter is presented, such as the temperature on the distribution of a marine ecosystem, such as the marine surface phytoplankton observed, that the species identified as the biological indicators of the “El Niño” phenomenon coincided with the onset of the thermal anomalies indicative of the evolution of a warm event; Likewise, with the data obtained, it was visualized that the phytoplankton composition found during the study period reflects a mixture of elements with a very diverse ecological amplitude, reflecting waters of different origins: coastal and oceanic. More information is provided in order to complement the knowledge about the indicator organisms that detect in an early way the environmental changes produced by the phenomenon “El Niño” and in this way, complement the physical-chemical and fisheries studies allowing to give approximately the orientation of policies in activities that could be affected, such as fishing strategy, aquaculture measures, marketing decision, hydrobiological resource management, etc.

The presence of the environmental parameter temperature on the distribution of a marine ecosystem as the surface marine phytoplankton showed, that the species identified as biological indicators of the “El Niño” coincided with the beginning of the indicative thermal anomalies of the evolution of a hot event; also phytoplankton found in the study period, show a mixture of very different elements with an ample ecological composition, indicating waters of different origins: coastal and oceanic.
More information is presented with the aim to complementing the knowledge on the environmental changes made by the “El Niño” and in this way, complete the physical-chemical and fisheries analysis allowing approximations in the orientation of activities that could be affected, like fisheries strategies, measures in aquaculture, market decisions, management of hydrological resources.
