Description: The Jeans instability is regarded as an important tool for analyzing the dynamics of a self-gravitating system. However, this theory is challenging since astronomical observation data show some Bok globules, whose masses are less than the Jeans mass and still have stars or at least undergo the star formation process. To explain this problem, we investigate the effects of the higher-order generalized uncertainty principle on the Jeans mass of the collapsing molecular cloud. The results in this paper show that the higher order generalized uncertainty principle has a very significant effect on the canonical energy and gravitational potential of idea gas, and finally leads to a modified Jeans mass lower than the original case, which is conducive to the generation of stars in small mass Bok globules. Furthermore, we estimate the new generalized uncertainty principle parameter $$gamma _0$$ γ 0 by applying various data of Bok globules, and find that the range of magnitude of $$gamma _0$$ γ 0 is $${10^{11}} {-} {10^{12}}$$ 10 11 - 10 12 .

Description: A measurement of the photon polarization in radiative penguin B decays provides a test of the Standard Model and a probe for New Physics, that can lead to a deviation from the Standard Model prediction of left-handed photons in $$b ightarrow s gamma $$ b → s γ . We propose a new method to measure the photon polarization using the baryonic decay $$B^- ightarrow Lambda ar{p} gamma $$ B - → Λ p ¯ γ . The P-violating $$Lambda $$ Λ -hyperon decay allows a measurement of the $$Lambda $$ Λ helicity to be performed, which can be uniquely related to the photon polarization in a model-independent way. The $$B^- ightarrow Lambda ar{p} gamma $$ B - → Λ p ¯ γ decay was recently measured to have a large branching fraction providing a possibility to get meaningful results with the data already available at LHC and B-factory experiments. An increase of the B-meson sample at high luminosity LHC experiments and Belle II should provide a really stringent test by using this method already in the near future.

Description: A common library, TMDlib2, for Transverse-Momentum-Dependent distributions (TMDs) and unintegrated parton distributions (uPDFs) is described, which allows for easy access of commonly used TMDs and uPDFs, providing a three-dimensional (3D) picture of the partonic structure of hadrons. The tool TMDplotter allows for web-based plotting of distributions implemented in TMDlib2, together with collinear pdfs as available in LHAPDF.

Description: Typical observers in the universe do not follow the smooth Hubble expansion, but move relative to it. Such bulk peculiar motions introduce a characteristic scale that is closely analogous to the familiar Jeans length. This “peculiar Jeans length” marks the threshold below which relative-motion effects dominate the linear kinematics. There, cosmological measurements can vary considerably between the bulk-flow frame and that of the Hubble expansion, entirely due to the observers’ relative motion. When dealing with the deceleration parameter, we find that the peculiar Jeans length varies between few and several hundred Mpc. On these scales, the deceleration parameter measured by the bulk-flow observers can be considerably larger (or smaller) than its Hubble-frame counterpart. This depends on whether the peculiar motion is locally expanding (or contracting), relative to the background expansion. Then, provided expanding and contracting bulk flows are randomly distributed, nearly half of the observers in the universe could be misled to think that their cosmos is over-decelerated. The rest of them, on the other hand, may come to believe that their universe is under-decelerated, or even accelerated in some cases. We make two phenomenological predictions that could in principle support this scenario.

Description: We propose an economical model addressing the generation of the Inverse Seesaw mechanism from the spontaneous breaking of a local $$U(1)_{B-L}$$ U ( 1 ) B - L , with the Majorana masses of the sterile neutrinos radiatively generated from the dark sector. The field content of the Standard Model is extended by neutral scalars and fermionic singlets, and the gauge group is extended with a $$U(1)_{B-L}$$ U ( 1 ) B - L and a discrete $${mathbb {Z}}_4$$ Z 4 symmetries. Besides dynamically generating the Inverse Seesaw and thus small masses to the active neutrinos, our model offers two possible dark matter candidates, one scalar and one fermionic, stable thanks to a remnant $${mathbb {Z}}_2$$ Z 2 symmetry. Our model complies with bounds and constraints form dark matter direct detection, invisible Higgs decays and $$Z'$$ Z ′ collider searches for masses of the dark sector at the TeV scale.

Description: The striking resemblance of high multiplicity proton-proton (pp) collisions at the LHC to heavy ion collisions challenges our conventional wisdom on the formation of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). A consistent explanation of the collectivity phenomena in pp will help us to understand the mechanism that leads to the QGP-like signals in small systems. In this study, we introduce a transport model approach connecting the initial conditions provided by PYTHIA8 with subsequent AMPT rescatterings to study the collective behavior in high energy pp collisions. The multiplicity dependence of light hadron productions from this model is in reasonable agreement with the pp $$sqrt{s}=13$$ s = 13 TeV experimental data. It is found in the comparisons that both the partonic and hadronic final state interactions are important for the generation of the radial flow feature of the pp transverse momentum spectra. The study also shows that the long range two particle azimuthal correlation in high multiplicity pp events is sensitive to the proton sub-nucleon spatial fluctuations.

Description: We revisit the operator mixing in massless QCD-like theories. In particular, we address the problem of determining under which conditions a renormalization scheme exists where the renormalized mixing matrix in the coordinate representation, $$Z(x, mu )$$ Z ( x , μ ) , is diagonalizable to all perturbative orders. As a key step, we provide a differential-geometric interpretation of renormalization that allows us to apply the Poincaré-Dulac theorem to the problem above: We interpret a change of renormalization scheme as a (formal) holomorphic gauge transformation, $$-frac{gamma (g)}{ eta (g)}$$ - γ ( g ) β ( g ) as a (formal) meromorphic connection with a Fuchsian singularity at $$g=0$$ g = 0 , and $$Z(x,mu )$$ Z ( x , μ ) as a Wilson line, with $$gamma (g)=gamma _0 g^2 + cdots $$ γ ( g ) = γ 0 g 2 + ⋯ the matrix of the anomalous dimensions and $$ eta (g)=- eta _0 g^3 +cdots $$ β ( g ) = - β 0 g 3 + ⋯ the beta function. As a consequence of the Poincaré-Dulac theorem, if the eigenvalues $$lambda _1, lambda _2, ldots $$ λ 1 , λ 2 , … of the matrix $$frac{gamma _0}{ eta _0}$$ γ 0 β 0 , in nonincreasing order $$lambda _1 ge lambda _2 ge cdots $$ λ 1 ≥ λ 2 ≥ ⋯ , satisfy the nonresonant condition $$lambda _i -lambda _j -2k e 0$$ λ i - λ j - 2 k ≠ 0 for $$ile j$$ i ≤ j and k a positive integer, then a renormalization scheme exists where $$-frac{gamma (g)}{ eta (g)} = frac{gamma _0}{ eta _0} frac{1}{g}$$ - γ ( g ) β ( g ) = γ 0 β 0 1 g is one-loop exact to all perturbative orders. If in addition $$frac{gamma _0}{ eta _0}$$ γ 0 β 0 is diagonalizable, $$Z(x, mu )$$ Z ( x , μ ) is diagonalizable as well, and the mixing reduces essentially to the multiplicatively renormalizable case. We also classify the remaining cases of operator mixing by the Poincaré–Dulac theorem.

Description: Lepton flavour violation (LFV) naturally occurs in many new physics models, specifically in those explaining the B anomalies. While LFV has already been studied for mesonic decays, it is important to consider also baryonic decays mediated by the same quark transition. In this paper, we study LFV in the baryonic $$Lambda _b ightarrow Lambda ell _1 ell _2$$ Λ b → Λ ℓ 1 ℓ 2 using for the first time a full basis of New Physics operators. We present expected bounds on the branching ratio in a model-independent framework and using two specific new physics models. Finally, we point out the interplay and orthogonality between the baryonic and mesonic LFV searches.

Description: In this work we construct an ultracompact star configuration in the framework of Gravitational Decoupling by the Minimal Geometric Deformation approach. We use the complexity factor as a complementary condition to close the system of differential equations. It is shown that for a polynomial complexity the resulting solution can be matched with two different modified-vacuum geometries.

Description: We compute multi-gluon production in the Color Glass Condensate approach in dilute-dense collisions, $$hbox {p}A$$ p A , extending previous calculations up to four gluons. We include the contributions that are leading in the overlap area of the collision but keep all orders in the expansion in the number of colors. We develop a diagrammatic technique to write the numerous color contractions and exploit the symmetries to group the diagrams and simplify the expressions. To proceed further, we use the McLerran–Venugopalan and Golec–Biernat–Wüsthoff models for the projectile and target averages, respectively. We use a form of the Lipatov vertices that leads to the Wigner function approach for the projectile previously employed, that we generalise to take into account quantum correlations in the projectile wave function. We provide analytic expressions for integrated and differential two gluon cumulants and show a smooth dependence on the parameters defining the projectile and target Wigner function and dipole, respectively. For four gluon correlations we find that the second order four particle cumulant is negative, so a sensible second Fourier azimuthal coefficient can be defined. The effect of correlations in the projectile on this result results qualitatively and quantitatively large.

Description: We obtain the left-right entanglement entropy (LREE) for a Dp-brane with tangential motion in the presence of a U(1) gauge potential, the Kalb–Ramond field and an open string tachyon field. Thus, at first we extract the Rényi entropy and then by taking a special limit of it we acquire the entanglement entropy. We shall investigate the behavior of the LREE under the tachyon condensation phenomenon. We observe that the deformation of the LREE, through this process, reveals the collapse of the brane. Besides, we examine the second law of thermodynamics for the LREE under tachyon condensation, and we extract the imposed constraints. Note that our calculations will be in the context of the type IIA/IIB superstring theories.

Description: We define a set of fully Lorentz-invariant wave packets and show that it spans the corresponding one-particle Hilbert subspace, and hence the whole Fock space as well, with a manifestly Lorentz-invariant completeness relation (resolution of identity). The position–momentum uncertainty relation for this Lorentz-invariant wave packet deviates from the ordinary Heisenberg uncertainty principle, and reduces to it in the non-relativistic limit.

Description: We present new two-sided constraints on the Lorentz Invariance violation energy scale for photons with quartic dispersion relation from recent gamma ray observations by the Tibet-AS$$gamma $$ γ and LHAASO experiments. The constraints are based on the consideration of the processes of photon triple splitting (superluminal scenario) and the suppression of shower formation (subluminal). The constraints in the subluminal scenario are better than the pair production constraints and are the strongest in the literature.

Description: The adsorption and diffusion of Mo and Nb adatoms on the $$alpha$$ α -Al2O3 (0001) surface were explored using density functional theory-based methods. Adsorption energies of Mo and Nb adatoms at minima sites on the surface were determined. Mo and Nb adatoms prefer to adsorb to the same locations on the surface, and larger adsorption energies calculated for Nb compared to Mo indicate that Nb adatom-surface interactions are stronger than Mo. Using minima adsorption sites as initial and final locations for surface diffusion, energy barriers for diffusion were calculated using the nudged elastic band method. Overall, Mo and Nb follow roughly the same diffusion paths. The diffusion pre-factors for Mo and Nb are similar; however, Mo diffusion has a lower energy barrier and thus a larger diffusion coefficient compared with Nb. These results provide insight into the role of surface diffusion of Mo and Nb adatoms during advanced manufacturing processes.

Description: Atmospheric neutrino experiments can show the “oscillation dip” feature in data, due to their sensitivity over a large L/E range. In experiments that can distinguish between neutrinos and antineutrinos, like INO, oscillation dips can be observed in both these channels separately. We present the dip-identification algorithm employing a data-driven approach – one that uses the asymmetry in the upward-going and downward-going events, binned in the reconstructed L/E of muons – to demonstrate the dip, which would confirm the oscillation hypothesis. We further propose, for the first time, the identification of an “oscillation valley” in the reconstructed ($$E_mu $$ E μ ,$$,cos heta _mu $$ cos θ μ ) plane, feasible for detectors like ICAL having excellent muon energy and direction resolutions. We illustrate how this two-dimensional valley would offer a clear visual representation and test of the L/E dependence, the alignment of the valley quantifying the atmospheric mass-squared difference. Owing to the charge identification capability of the ICAL detector at INO, we always present our results using $$mu ^{-}$$ μ - and $$mu ^{+}$$ μ + events separately. Taking into account the statistical fluctuations and systematic errors, and varying oscillation parameters over their currently allowed ranges, we estimate the precision to which atmospheric neutrino oscillation parameters would be determined with the 10-year simulated data at ICAL using our procedure.

Description: We find a coordinate-independent wave-packet solution of the massive Klein–Gordon equation with the conformal coupling to gravity in the de-Sitter universe. This solution can locally be represented through the superposition of positive-frequency plane waves at any space-time point, assuming that the scalar-field mass M is much bigger than the de-Sitter Hubble constant H. The solution is also shown to be related to the two-point function in the de-Sitter quantum vacuum. Moreover, we study the wave-packet propagation over cosmological times, depending on the ratio of M and H. In doing so, we find that this wave packet propagates like a point-like particle of the same mass if $$M ggg H$$ M ⋙ H , but, if otherwise, the wave packet behaves highly non-classically.

Description: The CUPID Collaboration is designing a tonne-scale, background-free detector to search for double beta decay with sufficient sensitivity to fully explore the parameter space corresponding to the inverted neutrino mass hierarchy scenario. One of the CUPID demonstrators, CUPID-Mo, has proved the potential of enriched Li$$_{2}$$ 2 $$^{100}$$ 100 MoO$$_4$$ 4 crystals as suitable detectors for neutrinoless double beta decay search. In this work, we characterised cubic crystals that, compared to the cylindrical crystals used by CUPID-Mo, are more appealing for the construction of tightly packed arrays. We measured an average energy resolution of ($$6.7pm 0.6$$ 6.7 ± 0.6 ) keV FWHM in the region of interest, approaching the CUPID target of 5 keV FWHM. We assessed the identification of $$alpha $$ α particles with and without a reflecting foil that enhances the scintillation light collection efficiency, proving that the baseline design of CUPID already ensures a complete suppression of this $$alpha $$ α -induced background contribution. We also used the collected data to validate a Monte Carlo simulation modelling the light collection efficiency, which will enable further optimisations of the detector.

Description: The effect of Ca and Zn additions on the microstructure and texture evolution during thermomechanical processing of Mg-Zn-Ca sheet alloys was systematically investigated and quantified. Plane strain compression testing in a Gleeble thermomechanical simulator was used to physically simulate a 10-pass rolling schedule, while allowing for careful control and monitoring of the processing parameters. Textures in the as-deformed ternary alloy samples demonstrate a weak maximum basal intensity and spreading in the transverse direction. Increasing the Zn content to 3.2 wt.% in the ternary alloys resulted in samples that exhibited weak textures in the as-deformed state. Importantly, static recrystallization (SRX) during post-deformation annealing of these alloys promoted a desirable annular texture, with the c-axis tipped from the normal direction and a lower basal texture intensity. The evolution in texture during SRX is associated with as-deformed microstructures with broad grain orientation spreads and a low degree of recrystallization.

Description: We study collective features of the scattering of gravitational waves on relic wormholes and normal matter objects. We derive and solve the GW energy transport equation and show that the scattered signal lies in the same frequency spectrum bands as the basic signal. The scattering forms long living tails which always accompany the basic signal and have a universal form. The scattering on normal matter objects forms tails which have always the retarded character, while wormholes lead to advanced tails as well. In addition, wormholes may produce considerably stronger effect when the total energy in tails detected on the Earth exceeds that in the incident direct wave. In both cases the retarding tails have a long living character when the mean amplitude behaves with time as $$hsim 1/sqrt{t+R/c}$$ h ∼ 1 / t + R / c . For a single GW event the echo tails give only a tiny contribution to the mean amplitude. However such tails accumulate with events and form a stochastic GW background which may be observed by the contribution to the noise.

Description: The propagation length of high-energy photons through the Universe is limited by $$e^{+}e^{-}$$ e + e - pair production on the extragalactic background radiation. Previous studies reported discrepancies between predicted and observed attenuation, suggesting explanations in terms of new physics. However, these effects are dominated by a limited number of observed sources, while many do not show any discrepancy. Here, we consider the distribution in the sky of these apparently anomalous objects, selected in two very different approaches: the study of unphysical hardenings at distance-dependent energies in deabsorbed spectra of TeV blazars, and the observation of ultra-high-energy air showers from the directions of BL Lac type objects. In both cases, directions to the anomalous sources follow the projected local distribution of galaxies: all the distant sources, contributing to the anomalies, are seen through the local filament. This matches the prediction of the proposed earlier explanation of the anomalies based on mixing of photons with axion-like particles in the filament’s magnetic field. For ultra-high energies, this axion interpretation may be tested by the search of primary gamma rays.

Description: We introduce a unique model for a fermion-antifermion pair interacting via Dirac oscillator coupling in the presence of an external uniform magnetic field. This model is based on an exact solution of the corresponding form of a fully-covariant two-body Dirac equation (one-time). The dynamic symmetry of the system allows to study in $$2+1$$ 2 + 1 dimensions and we choose the interaction of the particles with the external uniform magnetic field in the symmetric gauge. The corresponding equation leads $$4imes 4$$ 4 × 4 dimensional matrix equation for such a static composite system. For spin antisymmetric state of the fermion-antifermion pair, we perform an exact solution of the matrix equation and obtain relativistic Landau levels of a fermion-antifermion pair interacting via Dirac oscillator coupling. The results show that such a composite system behaves like a single relativistic quantum oscillator carrying total rest mass of the particles. We discuss several interesting features of this system and show that the obtained energy spectrum agrees well with the previously announced results for one-body systems. We think that the introduced model in this manuscript has a great potential for many theoretical and experimental applications.

Description: We investigate collider signatures of standard model extensions featuring vector-like leptons and a flavorful scalar sector. Such a framework arises naturally within asymptotically safe model building, which tames the UV behavior of the standard model towards the Planck scale and beyond. We focus on values of Yukawa couplings and masses which allow to explain the present data on the muon and electron anomalous magnetic moments. Using a CMS search based on $$77.4 , ext {fb}^{-1}$$ 77.4 fb - 1 at the $$sqrt{s}=13$$ s = 13  TeV LHC we find that flavorful vector-like leptons are excluded for masses below around 300 GeV if they are singlets under $$SU(2)_L$$ S U ( 2 ) L , and around 800 GeV if they are doublets. Exploiting the flavor-violating-like decays of the scalars, we design novel null test observables based on opposite sign opposite flavor invariant masses. These multi-lepton distributions allow to signal new physics and to extract mass hierarchies in reach of near-future searches at the LHC and the HL-LHC.

Description: We consider the perturbative renormalization of the Schwinger–Dyson functional, which is the generating functional of the expectation values of the products of the composite operator given by the field derivative of the action. It is argued that this functional plays an important role in the topological Chern–Simons and BF quantum field theories. It is shown that, by means of the renormalized perturbation theory, a canonical renormalization procedure for the Schwinger–Dyson functional is obtained. The combinatoric structure of the Feynman diagrams is illustrated in the case of scalar models. For the Chern–Simons and the BF gauge theories, the relationship between the renormalized Schwinger–Dyson functional and the generating functional of the correlation functions of the gauge fields is produced.

Description: In this manuscript, we report the outcome of the topical workshop: paving the way to alternative NNLO strategies (https://indico.ific.uv.es/e/WorkStop-ThinkStart_3.0), by presenting a discussion about different frameworks to perform precise higher-order computations for high-energy physics. These approaches implement novel strategies to deal with infrared and ultraviolet singularities in quantum field theories. A special emphasis is devoted to the local cancellation of these singularities, which can enhance the efficiency of computations and lead to discover novel mathematical properties in quantum field theories.

Description: We consider a three-dimensional rotating AdS black hole, which is a solution of Hořava gravity in the low-energy limit that corresponds to a Lorentz-violating version of the BTZ black hole, and we analyze the effect of the breaking of Lorentz invariance on the possibility that the black hole can act as a particle accelerator by analyzing the energy in the center-of-mass (CM) frame of two colliding particles in the vicinity of its horizons. We find that the critical angular momentum of particles increases when the Hořava parameter $$xi $$ ξ increases and when the aether parameter b increases. Also, the particles can collide on the inner horizon with arbitrarily high CM energy if one of the particles has a critical angular momentum, possible for the BSW process. Here it is essential that, while for the extremal BTZ black hole the particles with critical angular momentum only can exist on the degenerate horizon, for the Lorentz-violating version of the BTZ black hole the particle with critical angular momentum can exist in a region away from the degenerate horizon. It is worth mentioning that the results exposed in this manuscript can be applied for the covariant version of Hořava gravity, where the covariant definition of the center-of-mass energy is well defined.

Description: We consider a Lorentz violating scalar field cosmological model given by the modified Einstein-æther theory defined in Weyl integrable geometry. The existence of exact and analytic solutions is investigated for the case of a spatially flat Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker background space. We show that the theory admits cosmological solutions of special interests. In addition, we prove that the cosmological field equations admit the Lewis invariant as a second conservation law, which indicates the integrability of the field equations.

Description: The production of $$pi ^{pm }$$ π ± , $$mathrm{K}^{pm }$$ K ± , $$mathrm{K}^{0}_{S}$$ K S 0 , $$mathrm{K}^{*}(892)^{0}$$ K ∗ ( 892 ) 0 , $$mathrm{p}$$ p , $$phi (1020)$$ ϕ ( 1020 ) , $$Lambda $$ Λ , $$Xi ^{-}$$ Ξ - , $$Omega ^{-}$$ Ω - , and their antiparticles was measured in inelastic proton–proton (pp) collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $$sqrt{s}$$ s = 13 TeV at midrapidity ($$|y|

Description: In this work, the influence of twin-roll casting (TRC) speed on the microstructure of the through-thickness uniformity, centerline segregation, and surface quality of three wrought Mg alloys was investigated. The microstructural features of the AZ31, ZX11, and ZWK200 alloys produced at TRC speeds ranging from 1.8 m/min to 2.2 m/min (for the AZ31 and ZWK200), and 1.5–2.5 m/min (for the ZX11 alloy) were analyzed. There were clear differences in the microstructure uniformity depending on the alloy composition. Columnar grains coexisting with globular grains were found in the AZ31 and ZX11 alloys, whereas the ZWK200 alloy showed a homogeneous fine-grained microstructure characterized by a weaker texture even at the highest TRC speed used. While there is a tendency to reduce the centerline segregation as the TRC speed is decreased during casting of the AZ31 alloy, the formation of this defect cannot be prevented in the ZX11 and ZWK200 alloys by only varying the TRC speed.

Description: The problem of the cosmological constant is considered in the formalism of an extended space-time consisting of the extended classical solution of Einstein equations. The different regions of the extended manifold are proposed to be related by the charge, parity, time and mass (CPTM) reversal symmetry applied with respect to the metric fields of the manifolds. There are interactions between the points of the extended manifold provided by scalar fields present separately in the different patches of the extended solution. The value of the constant is obtained equal to zero at the classical level due the mutual contribution of the fields in the vacuum energy, it’s non-zero value is due the quantum interactions between the fields. There are few possible scenario for the actions of the fields are discussed. Each from the obtained variants is similar to the closed time path approach of non-equilibrium condensed matter physics and among these possibilities for the closed paths, there is a variant of the action equivalent to the formalism of Keldysh. Accordingly, we consider and shortly discuss the application of the proposed formalism to the problem of smallness of the cosmological constant and singularities problem.

Description: We present the results of a non-perturbative determination of the improvement coefficient $$c_mathrm{V}$$ c V and the renormalisation factor $$Z_mathrm{V}$$ Z V , which define the renormalised vector current in three-flavour $$mathrm{O}(a)$$ O ( a ) improved lattice QCD with Wilson quarks and tree-level Symanzik-improved gauge action. In case of the improvement coefficient, we consider both lattice descriptions of the vector current, the local as well as the conserved (i.e., point-split) one. Our improvement and normalisation conditions are based on massive chiral Ward identities and numerically evaluated in the Schrödinger functional setup, which allows to eliminate finite quark mass effects in a controlled way. In order to ensure a smooth dependence of the renormalisation constant and improvement coefficients on the bare gauge coupling, our computation proceeds along a line of constant physics, covering the typical range of lattice spacings $$0.04,mathrm{fm}lesssim alesssim 0.1,mathrm{fm}$$ 0.04 fm ≲ a ≲ 0.1 fm that is useful for phenomenological applications. Especially for the improvement coefficient of the local vector current, we report significant differences between the one-loop perturbative estimates and our non-perturbative results.

Description: The production of ultra-pure raw material is a crucial step to ensure the required background level in rare event searches. In this work, we establish an innovative technique developed to produce high-purity (99.999%) granular zinc. We demonstrate the effectiveness of the refining procedure by measuring the internal contaminations of the purified zinc with a high-purity germanium detector at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso. The total activity of cosmogenic activated nuclides is measured at the level of a few mBq/kg, as well as limits on naturally occurring radionuclides are set to less than mBq/kg. The excellent radiopurity of the zinc sample allows us to search for electron capture with positron emission and neutrinoless double electron capture of $$^{64}$$ 64 Zn, setting the currently most stringent lower limits on their half-lives, $$T_{1/2}^{varepsilon eta ^+} 〉 2.7imes 10^{21}~ext {year}$$ T 1 / 2 ε β + 〉 2.7 × 10 21 year (90% CI), and $$T_{1/2}^{0 u 2varepsilon }〉 2.6imes 10^{21}~ext {year}$$ T 1 / 2 0 ν 2 ε 〉 2.6 × 10 21 year (90% CI), respectively.

Description: We will show that for exponential type potentials of the form $$V(varphi )sim e^{-gamma varphi ^n/M_{pl}^n}$$ V ( φ ) ∼ e - γ φ n / M pl n , which are used to depict quintessential inflation, the solutions whose initial conditions take place during the slow roll phase in order to describe correctly the inflationary period, do not belong for large values of the parameter n to the basin of attraction of the scaling solution – a solution of the scalar field equation whose energy density scale as the one of the fluid component of the universe during radiation or the matter domination period –, meaning that a late time mechanism to exit this behavior and depict correctly the current cosmic acceleration is not needed. However, in such cases, namely n large enough, these potentials cannot correctly depict the current cosmic acceleration. This is the reason why the potential must be improved introducing another parameter -as the one in the well-known Peebles–Vilenkin quintessential inflation model, which depends on two parameters, one to describe inflation and the other one to correctly depict the present accelerated evolution – able to deal with the late time acceleration of our universe.

Description: In this paper we propose an approach which demonstrates the dependence of quarkonia production on the multiplicity of the accompanying hadrons. Our approach is based on the three gluon fusion mechanism, without assuming the multiplicity dependence of the saturation scale. We show, that we describe the experimental data, which has a dependence that is much steeper than the multiplicity of the hadrons.

Description: A new data-driven method, using $$Z ightarrow mu ^+mu ^-$$ Z → μ + μ - decays, is proposed to correct for charge-dependent curvature biases in spectrometer experiments at hadron colliders. The method is studied assuming a detector with a “forward-spectrometer” geometry similar to that of the LHCb experiment, and is shown to reliably control several simplified detector mis-alignment configurations. The applicability of the method for use in measurements of precision electroweak observables is evaluated.

Description: Intense fluxes of reactor antineutrinos offer a unique possibility to probe the fully coherent character of elastic neutrino scattering off atomic nuclei. In this regard, detectors face the challenge to register tiny recoil energies of a few keV at the maximum. The Conus experiment was installed in 17.1 m distance from the reactor core of the nuclear power plant in Brokdorf, Germany, and was designed to detect this neutrino interaction channel by using four 1 kg-sized point contact germanium detectors with sub-keV energy thresholds. This report describes the unique specifications addressed to the design, the research and development, and the final production of these detectors. It demonstrates their excellent electronic performance obtained during commissioning under laboratory conditions as well as during the first 2 years of operation at the reactor site which started on April 1, 2018. It highlights the long-term stability of different detector parameters and the achieved background levels of the germanium detectors inside the Conus shield setup.

Description: We consider a two-atom system uniformly moving through a circular ring at an ultra-relativistic speed and weakly interacting with the common quantum fields. Two kinds of fields are introduced here: a massive free scalar field and electromagnetic (EM) vector fields. The vacuum fluctuations of the quantum fields give rise to the resonance Casimir–Polder interaction (RCPI) in the system. Using the quantum master equation formalism, we calculate the second-order energy shift of the entangled states of the system. We find two major aspects of RCPI in a circular trajectory. The first one is the presence of the centripetal acceleration, which gives rise to non-thermality in the system, and secondly, due to the interaction with the above fields, the energy shift for RCPI is retarded in comparison with the massless scalar field. The retardation effect can die out by decreasing the centripetal acceleration and increasing the Zeeman frequency of the atoms. We also show that this phenomenon can be observed via the polarization transfer technique. The coherence time for the polarization transfer is calculated, which is different for the different fields.

Description: The main focus of this paper is to explore the possibility of providing a new family of exact solutions for suitable anisotropic spherically symmetric systems in the realm of general relativity involving the embedding spherically symmetric static metric into the five-dimensional pseudo-Euclidean space. In this regard, we ansatz a new metric potential $$lambda (r)$$ λ ( r ) , and we obtained the other metric potential $$ u (r)$$ ν ( r ) by mains of embedding class one approach. The unknown constants are determined by the matching of interior space-time with the Schwarzschild exterior space-time. The physical acceptability of the generating celestial model for anisotropic compact stars is approved via acting several physical tests of the main salient features viz., energy density, radial and tangential pressures, anisotropy effect, dynamical equilibrium, energy conditions, and dynamical stability, which are well-compared with experimental statistics of four different compact stars: PSR J1416-2230, PSR J1903+327, 4U 1820-30 and Cen X-3. Conclusively, all the compact stars under observations are realistic, stable, and are free from any physical or geometrical singularities. We find that the embedding class one solution for anisotropic compact stars is viable and stable, plus, it provides circumstantial evidence in favor of super-massive pulsars.

Description: With the discovery of some hidden-charm pentaquark resonances by the LHCb Collaboration, investigations of pentaquark states containing heavy quarks have aroused the interest of theorists. We study herein $$qqq{ ar{q}}Q$$ q q q q ¯ Q ($$q = u$$ q = u or d, $$Q=c$$ Q = c or b) pentaquark system, in the framework of the chiral quark model. In consequence, some charmed and bottomed pentaquarks are considered to exist by five-body dynamical calculations. In the charm sector, $$Sigma _cpi (IJ^P=0frac{1}{2}^-)$$ Σ c π ( I J P = 0 1 2 - ) and $$Sigma _c^*pi (IJ^P=0frac{3}{2}^-)$$ Σ c ∗ π ( I J P = 0 3 2 - ) are possible candidates of $$Lambda _c(2595)$$ Λ c ( 2595 ) and $$Lambda _c(2625)$$ Λ c ( 2625 ) , respectively. Besides, two high-spin states, $$Sigma _c^* ho (IJ^P=0frac{5}{2}^-)$$ Σ c ∗ ρ ( I J P = 0 5 2 - ) and $$Delta D^*(IJ^P=1frac{5}{2}^-)$$ Δ D ∗ ( I J P = 1 5 2 - ) , are also found in the energy region of $$3.2 sim 3.3$$ 3.2 ∼ 3.3 GeV. In the bottom sector, $$Sigma _bpi (IJ^P=0frac{1}{2}^-)$$ Σ b π ( I J P = 0 1 2 - ) , $$Sigma _b^*pi (IJ^P=0frac{3}{2}^-)$$ Σ b ∗ π ( I J P = 0 3 2 - ) could be candidates of $$Lambda _b(5912)$$ Λ b ( 5912 ) and $$Lambda _b(5920)$$ Λ b ( 5920 ) , respectively. And $$Sigma _b^* ho (IJ^P=0frac{5}{2}^-)$$ Σ b ∗ ρ ( I J P = 0 5 2 - ) and $$Delta B^*(IJ^P=1frac{5}{2}^-)$$ Δ B ∗ ( I J P = 1 5 2 - ) are found in the energy region of $$6.5 sim 6.6$$ 6.5 ∼ 6.6 GeV. $$Sigma _c^{(*)}pi $$ Σ c ( ∗ ) π and $$Sigma _b^{(*)}pi $$ Σ b ( ∗ ) π are expected as compact states, while $$Sigma _c^* ho $$ Σ c ∗ ρ , $$Sigma _b^* ho $$ Σ b ∗ ρ , $$Delta D^*$$ Δ D ∗ and $$Delta B^*$$ Δ B ∗ are expected as molecular states.

Description: In this work, we further study a metric modified theory of gravity which contains a non-minimal coupling to matter, more precisely, we assume two functions of the scalar curvature, $$f_1$$ f 1 and $$f_2$$ f 2 , where the first one generalises the Hilbert–Einstein action, while the second couples to the matter Lagrangian. On the one hand, assuming a $$varLambda $$ Λ CDM background, we calculate analytical solutions for the functions $$f_1$$ f 1 and $$f_2$$ f 2 . We consider two setups: on the first one, we fix $$f_2$$ f 2 and compute $$f_1$$ f 1 and on the second one, we fix $$f_1$$ f 1 and compute $$f_2$$ f 2 . Moreover, we do the analysis for two different energy density contents, a matter dominated universe and a general perfect fluid with a constant equation of state fuelling the universe expansion. On the other hand, we complete our study by performing a cosmographic analysis for $$f_1$$ f 1 and $$f_2$$ f 2 . We conclude that the gravitational coupling to matter can drive the accelerated expansion of the universe.

Description: By using the subregion CV conjecture, we numerically investigate the behavior of the holographic subregion complexity (HSC) and compare it with the holographic entanglement entropy (HEE) in the unbalanced holographic superconductors, which indicates that both the HEE and HSC can be used as good probes to the phase transition in unbalanced holographic superconductors. We observe that the HEE and HSC exhibit a similar linear growth behavior with the change of width for a strip geometry. However, for different fixed widths, the HSC exhibits different behaviors with the change of the temperature, while the behavior of HEE remains consistent. In particular, we find that there are certain conditions that make it difficult to observe the phase transition of this system through the HSC approach. Furthermore, we also note that the unbalance parameter has different effects on the HSC, while the HEE always increases as the unbalance parameter increases.

Description: The deviation between the prediction based on the standard model and the measurement of the muon $$g{-}2$$ g - 2 is currently at $$3{-}4 sigma $$ 3 - 4 σ . If this discrepancy is attributable to new physics, it is expected that the new contributions to the tau $$g{-}2$$ g - 2 even larger than those of muon due to its large mass. However, it is much more difficult to directly measure the tau $$g{-}2$$ g - 2 because of its short lifetime. In this report, we consider the effect of the tau $$g{-}2$$ g - 2 at $$e^-e^+$$ e - e + colliders using a model independent approach. Using the tau pair production channel at the Large Electron Position Collider (LEP), we have determined the allowed range for the new physics contribution of the tau $$g{-}2$$ g - 2 assuming a q-square-dependence ansatz for the magnetic form factor. We also investigated the prospect at future $$e^+e^-$$ e + e - colliders, such as International Linear Collider, the Compact Linear Collider, the Future Circular $$e^+e^-$$ e + e - Collider, and Circular Electron Positron Collider, and determined the expected allowed range for the new physics contribution to the tau anomalous magnetic moment. The best limits are about $$4{-}5$$ 4 - 5 times more severe than the LEP one due to the beam polarization and the high luminosities at future colliders.

Description: The Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) has emerged in numerous attempts to a theory of quantum gravity and predicts the existence of a minimum length in Nature. In this work, we consider two cosmological models arising from Friedmann equations modified by the GUP (in its linear and quadratic formulations) and compare them with observational data. Our aim is to derive constraints on the GUP parameter and discuss the viability and physical implications of such models. We find for the parameter in the quadratic formulation the constraint $$alpha ^{2}_{Q}

Description: We consider the geodesic deviation equation, describing the relative accelerations of nearby particles, and the Raychaudhuri equation, giving the evolution of the kinematical quantities associated with deformations (expansion, shear and rotation) in the Weyl-type f(Q, T) gravity, in which the non-metricity Q is represented in the standard Weyl form, fully determined by the Weyl vector, while T represents the trace of the matter energy–momentum tensor. The effects of the Weyl geometry and of the extra force induced by the non-metricity–matter coupling are explicitly taken into account. The Newtonian limit of the theory is investigated, and the generalized Poisson equation, containing correction terms coming from the Weyl geometry, and from the geometry matter coupling, is derived. As a physical application of the geodesic deviation equation the modifications of the tidal forces, due to the non-metricity–matter coupling, are obtained in the weak-field approximation. The tidal motion of test particles is directly influenced by the gradients of the extra force, and of the Weyl vector. As a concrete astrophysical example we obtain the expression of the Roche limit (the orbital distance at which a satellite begins to be tidally torn apart by the body it orbits) in the Weyl-type f(Q, T) gravity.

Description: The thermodynamic properties of loop quantum cosmology (LQC) without considering the Lorentz term were established in Li and Zhu (Adv High Energy Phys 2009:905705, 2009). In this paper, we extend this result to the recent proposed new model of LQC with the Lorentz term. We investigate the thermodynamics of LQC on the apparent horizon of the Friedmann–Lematre–Robertson–Walker universe. The result shows that the effective density and effective pressure in the modified Friedmann equation of LQC not only determines the evolution of the universe but can also serve as the thermodynamic quantities. Moreover, with the help of the Misner–Sharp energy, the first law of thermodynamics of the LQC is still valid as expected. This in turn endows precise physical meaning to the effective matter density $$ ho _{eff}$$ ρ eff and the effective pressure $$P_{eff}$$ P eff .

Description: We explore the properties of polynomial Lagrangians for chiral p-forms previously proposed by the last named author, and in particular, provide a self-contained treatment of the symmetries and equations of motion that shows a great economy and simplicity of this formalism. We further use analogous techniques to construct polynomial democratic Lagrangians for general p-forms where electric and magnetic potentials appear on equal footing as explicit dynamical variables. Due to our reliance on the differential form notation, the construction is compact and universally valid for forms of all ranks, in any number of dimensions.

Description: This paper is devoted to investigate the interacting generalized ghost pilgrim dark energy model in the background of anisotropic universe in general relativity. We analyze the two parameters i.e., hubble parameter and equation of state parameter to explore the cosmological evolution of the Bianchi type universe. We study scalar field dark energy models i.e., quintessence, dilaton, K-essence and tachyon to check the consistency of the current universe with their scalar field and corresponding potentials. Further, we check the compatibility of fractional density of matter and dark energy with recent observations of Plank along with their graphical analysis. It is remarkable to conclude that that both fractional densities admits consistency with Plank data 2018 in all cases of Bainchi type universe.

Description: We use Lipatov’s high energy effective action to determine the next-to-leading order corrections to Higgs production in the forward region within high energy factorization making use of the infinite top mass limit. Our result is based on an explicit calculation of real corrections combined with virtual corrections determined earlier by Nefedov. As a new element we provide a proper definition of the desired next-to-leading order coefficient within the high energy effective action framework, extending a previously proposed prescription. We further propose a subtraction mechanism to achieve for this coefficient a stable cancellation of real and virtual infra-red singularities in the presence of external off-shell legs. Apart from its relevance for direct phenomenological studies, such as high energy resummation of Higgs $$+$$ + jet configurations, our result will be further of use for the study of transverse momentum dependent factorization in the high energy limit.

Description: In this paper, the numerical investigation of a Bondi–Hoyle accretion around a non-rotating black hole in a novel four dimensional Einstein–Gauss–Bonnet gravity is investigated by solving the general relativistic hydrodynamical equations using the high resolution shock capturing scheme. For this purpose, the accreated matter from the wind-accreating X-ray binaries falls towards the black hole from the far upstream side of the domain, supersonically. We study the effects of Gauss–Bonnet coupling constant $$alpha $$ α in 4D EGB gravity on the accreated matter and shock cones created in the downstream region in detail. The required time having the shock cone in downstream region is getting smaller for $$alpha 〉 0$$ α 〉 0 while it is increasing for $$alpha 〈 0$$ α

Description: In this present paper, we study the cosmological evolution of the cubic galileon along with modified teleparallel gravity at perturbed and non-perturbed levels. We show the dynamical equations of motion and investigate the evolution of different cosmological parameters by using the dynamical variables analysis. In addition, a detailed analysis of different cosmological evolution in the matter, radiation and de Sitter eras is presented by solving the dynamical equations numerically. In our analysis, we find that the equations of motion in the Friedmann–Robertson–Walker (FRW) background metric is characterized by a stable de Sitter era and a tracker solution in which $$H{dot{varphi }}$$ H φ ˙ is always constant. We find also that the equation of state of dark energy associated to the proposed model in this work can deviate from − 2 at the matter era. Moreover, the conditions of avoiding ghost and Laplacian instabilities in our model are derived; then we show that the model is free of these instabilities. Furthermore we place an observational constraint on the parameters of the model through Monte Carlo numerical method using growth rate and observational Hubble data. Finally, using the best-fit values of parameters in the model we compare our growth rate of matter perturbation with the prediction of $$varLambda $$ Λ CDM model and the latest measurement.

Description: Mass spectra of bottomonium states are computed using the Instanton Induced potential obtained from Instanton Liquid Model for QCD vacuum and incorporating a stronger confinement term. Spin dependent interactions through confined one gluon exchange potential are incorporated to remove the mass degeneracy. The mass spectra of the $$b ar{b}$$ b b ¯ states up to 4S states are found to be in good agreement with the values reported by PDG(2020). Mixing of nearby isoparity states are also studied. We found the state $$varUpsilon (10{,}860)$$ Υ ( 10 , 860 ) as an admixture of $$5^3S_1$$ 5 3 S 1 and $$6^3D_1$$ 6 3 D 1 Upsilon states with mixing angle $$heta = 39.98^{circ }$$ θ = 39 . 98 ∘ and the mixed state di-leptonic decay width is found to be 0.25 keV as against the width of $$0.31 pm 0.07$$ 0.31 ± 0.07  keV reported by PDG. Further the state $$varUpsilon (11{,}020)$$ Υ ( 11 , 020 ) is also found to be the admixture of $$6^3S_1$$ 6 3 S 1 and $$5^3D_1$$ 5 3 D 1 Upsilon states with the mixing angle $$heta = 51.69^{circ }$$ θ = 51 . 69 ∘ and the di-leptonic decay width of the mixed state is obtained as 0.14 keV which is very close to the width of $$0.13 pm 0.03$$ 0.13 ± 0.03  keV reported by PDG. Present results indicates that addition of confinement to the instanton potential is crucial for the determination of the mass spectroscopy of heavy hadrons.

Description: Long-lived particles decaying to $${e ^pm } {mu ^mp } { u } $$ e ± μ ∓ ν , with masses between 7 and $$50 ,ext {GeV/}c^2 $$ 50 GeV/ c 2 and lifetimes between 2 and $$50 ,ext {ps} $$ 50 ps , are searched for by looking at displaced vertices containing electrons and muons of opposite charges. The search is performed using $$5.4 ,ext {fb} ^{-1} $$ 5.4 fb - 1 of $$p $$ p $$p $$ p collisions collected with the LHCb detector at a centre-of-mass energy of $$sqrt{s} = 13 ,ext {TeV} $$ s = 13 TeV . Three mechanisms of production of long-lived particles are considered: the direct pair production from quark interactions, the pair production from the decay of a Standard-Model-like Higgs boson with a mass of $$125 ,ext {GeV/}c^2 $$ 125 GeV/ c 2 , and the charged current production from an on-shell $$W $$ W boson with an additional lepton. No evidence of these long-lived states is obtained and upper limits on the production cross-section times branching fraction are set on the different production modes.

Description: We provide a complete characterization of the metric Killing bundles (or metric bundles) of the Kerr geometry. Metric bundles can be generally defined for axially symmetric spacetimes with Killing horizons and, for the case of Kerr geometries, are sets of black holes (BHs) or black holes and naked singularities (NSs) geometries. Each metric of a bundle has an equal limiting photon (orbital) frequency, which defines the bundle and coincides with the frequency of a Killing horizon in the extended plane. In this plane each bundle is represented as a curve tangent to the curve that represents the horizons, which thus emerge as the envelope surfaces of the metric bundles. We show that the horizons frequency can be used to establish a connection between BHs and NSs, providing an alternative representation of such spacetimes in the extended plane and an alternative definition of the BH horizons. We introduce the concept of inner horizon confinement and horizons replicas and study the possibility of detecting their frequencies. We study the bundle characteristic frequencies constraining the inner horizon confinement in the outer region of the plane i.e. the possibility of detect frequency related to the inner horizon, and the horizons replicas, structures which may be detectable for example from the emission spectra of BHs spacetimes. With the replicas we prove the existence of photon orbits with equal orbital frequency of the horizons. It is shown that such observations can be performed close to the rotation axis of the Kerr geometry, depending on the BH spin. We argue that these results could be used to further investigate black holes and their thermodynamic properties.

Description: In this manuscript we will present the theoretical framework of the recently proposed infinite derivative theory of gravity with a non-symmetric connection. We will explicitly derive the field equations at the linear level and obtain new solutions with a non-trivial form of the torsion tensor in the presence of a fermionic source, and show that these solutions are both ghost and singularity-free.

Description: The separation of Dy from Nd has been studied from the viewpoint of recycling Dy from Nd magnets. N,N,N′,N′-tetradodecyl-DGA (TDdDGA) has a relatively high separation factor between Dy and Nd (above 10) in HNO3 medium. After basic research on batchwise multistage extractions using eight extraction stages with 0.1 M TDdDGA in n-dodecane as organic phase, ten stages with an aqueous phase (0.7 M HNO3 with metals), and six stages with another aqueous phase (0.7 M HNO3 without metals), approximately 99% of Dy was recovered into the organic phase with 1% coextraction of Nd.

Description: In the standard model of cosmology, the Universe began its expansion with an anomalously low entropy, which then grew dramatically to much larger values consistent with the physical conditions at decoupling, roughly 380,000 years after the Big Bang. There does not appear to be a viable explanation for this ‘unnatural’ history, other than via the generalized second law of thermodynamics (GSL), in which the entropy of the bulk, $$S_mathrm{bulk}$$ S bulk , is combined with the entropy of the apparent (or gravitational) horizon, $$S_{mathrm{h}}$$ S h . This is not completely satisfactory either, however, since this approach seems to require an inexplicable equilibrium between the bulk and horizon temperatures. In this paper, we explore the thermodynamics of an alternative cosmology known as the $$R_{mathrm{h}}=ct$$ R h = c t universe, which has thus far been highly successful in resolving many other problems or inconsistencies in $$varLambda $$ Λ CDM. We find that $$S_{mathrm{bulk}}$$ S bulk is constant in this model, eliminating the so-called initial entropy problem simply and elegantly. The GSL may still be relevant, however, principally in selecting the arrow of time, given that $$S_{mathrm{h}}propto t^2$$ S h ∝ t 2 in this model.

Description: It is shown that the expressions for the tangential pressure, the anisotropy factor and the radial pressure in the Einstein–Maxwell equations may serve as generating functions for charged stellar models. The latter can incorporate an equation of state when the expression for the energy density is also used. Other generating functions are based on the condition for the existence of conformal motion (conformal flatness in particular) and the Karmarkar condition for embedding class one metrics, which do not depend on charge. In all these cases the equations are linear first order differential equations for one of the metric components and Riccati equations for the other. The latter may be always transformed into second order homogenous linear differential equations. These conclusions are illustrated by numerous particular examples from the study of charged stellar models.

Description: We consider the treatment of fermionic dark matter interacting with photons via dimension-5 and -6 effective operators, arguing that one should always use hypercharge gauge field form factors, instead of those of the photon. Beyond the simple observation that the electromagnetic form factor description breaks down at the electroweak scale, we show how the additional couplings to the Z boson predicted by the hypercharge form factors modify the relic density calculation and indirect detection limits for dark matter masses of a few tens of GeV and above. Furthermore, constraints from the invisible Z decay width can be competitive for masses below 10 GeV. We review the phenomenology of hypercharge form factors at the LHC as well as for direct and indirect detection experiments. We highlight where the electromagnetic and hypercharge descriptions lead to wildly different conclusions about the viable parameter space and the relative sensitivity of various probes, namely vector boson fusion versus mono-jet constraints from the LHC, and indirect versus direct searches, for larger dark matter masses. We find that the dimension-5 operators are strongly constrained by direct detection bounds, while for dimension-6 operators LHC mono-jet searches are competitive or better than the other probes we consider.

Description: We develop a non-perturbative method for calculating partition functions of strongly coupled quantum mechanical systems with interactions between subsystems described by a path integral of a dual system. The dual path integral is derived starting from non-interacting subsystems at zeroth order and then by introducing couplings of increasing complexity at each order of an iterative procedure. These orders of interactions play the role of a dual time and the full quantum partition function is expressed as a transition amplitude in the dual system. More precisely, it is expressed as a path integral from a deformation-operators dependent initial state at zero time/order to the inverse-temperature dependent final state at later time/order. We provide examples of strongly coupled systems with up to first-order interactions (e.g. Ising model) and arbitrary high-order interactions (e.g. $$1+1hbox {D}$$ 1 + 1 D QFT). We also discuss a possible emergence of space-time, quantum field theories and general relativity in context of the dual path integral.

Description: An investigation on stochastic deflection of high-energy charged particles in a bent crystal was carried out. In particular, we investigated the deflection efficiency under axial confinement of both positively and negatively charged particles as a function of the crystal orientation, the choice of the bending plane, and of the charge sign. Analytic estimations and numerical simulations were compared with dedicated experiments at the H4 secondary beam line of SPS North Area, with 120 GeV/c electrons and positrons. In the work presented in this article, the optimal orientations of the plane of bending of the crystal, which allow deflecting the largest number of charged particles using a bent crystal in axial orientation, were found.

Description: We present firstly the equation of motion for the test scalar particle coupling to the Chern–Simons invariant in Kerr black hole spacetime by the short-wave approximation. We have analyzed the dynamical behaviors of the test coupled particles by applying techniques including Poincaré sections, fast Lyapunov exponent indicator, bifurcation diagram and basins of attraction. It is shown that there exists chaotic phenomenon in the motion of scalar particle interacted with the Chern–Simons invariant in a Kerr black hole spacetime. With the increase of the coupling strength, the motion of the coupled particles for the chosen parameters first undergoes a series of transitions betweens chaotic motion and regular motion and then falls into horizon or escapes to spatial infinity. Thus, the coupling between scalar particle and Chern–Simons invariant yields the richer dynamical behavior of scalar particle in a Kerr black hole spacetime.

Description: The study of the motion of photons around massive bodies is one of the most useful tools to find the geodesic structure associated with said gravitational source. In the present work, different possible paths projected in an invariant hyperplane are investigated, considering a five-dimensional Reissner–Nordström anti-de Sitter black hole. Also, we study some observational tests, such as the bending of light and the Shapiro time delay effect. Mainly, we found that the motion of photons follows the hippopede of a Proclus geodesic, which is a new type of trajectory of the second kind, the Limaçon of Pascal being their analog geodesic in four-dimensional Reissner–Nordström anti-de Sitter black hole.

Description: We provide a dispersion-theoretical representation of the reaction amplitudes $$gamma K ightarrow K pi $$ γ K → K π in all charge channels, based on modern pion–kaon P-wave phase shift input. Crossed-channel singularities are fixed from phenomenology as far as possible. We demonstrate how the subtraction constants can be matched to a low-energy theorem and radiative couplings of the $$K^*(892)$$ K ∗ ( 892 ) resonances, thereby providing a model-independent framework for future analyses of high-precision kaon Primakoff data.

Description: The spectral properties of a set of local gauge (BRST) invariant composite operators are investigated in the SU(2) Yang–Mills–Higgs model with a single Higgs field in the fundamental representation, quantized in the ’t Hooft $$R_{xi }$$ R ξ -gauge. These operators can be thought of as a BRST invariant version of the elementary fields of the theory, the Higgs and gauge fields, with which they share a gauge independent pole mass. The two-point correlation functions of both BRST invariant composite operators and elementary fields, as well as their spectral functions, are investigated at one-loop order. It is shown that the spectral functions of the elementary fields suffer from a strong unphysical dependence from the gauge parameter $$xi $$ ξ , and can even exhibit positivity violating behaviour. In contrast, the BRST invariant local operators exhibit a well defined positive spectral density.

Description: We develop a model to study the $$D^0 ightarrow K^- pi ^+ eta $$ D 0 → K - π + η weak decay, starting with the color favored external emission and Cabibbo favored mode at the quark level. A less favored internal emission decay mode is also studied as a source of small corrections. Some pairs of quarks are allowed to hadronize producing two pseudoscalar mesons, which posteriorly are allowed to interact to finally provide the $$K^- pi ^+ eta $$ K - π + η state. The chiral unitary approach is used to take into account the final state interaction of pairs of mesons, which has as a consequence the production of the $$kappa $$ κ ($$K^*_0(700)$$ K 0 ∗ ( 700 ) ) and the $$a_0(980)$$ a 0 ( 980 ) resonances, well visible in the invariant mass distributions. We also introduce the $$ ar{K}^{*0} eta $$ K ¯ ∗ 0 η production in a phenomenological way and show that the s-wave pseudoscalar interaction together with this vector excitation mode are sufficient to provide a fair reproduction of the experimental data. The model provides the relative weight of the $$a_0(980)$$ a 0 ( 980 ) to the $$kappa $$ κ excitation, and their strength is clearly visible in the low energy part of the $$K pi $$ K π spectrum.

Description: We extend the already existing two-loop calculation of the effective bottom-Yukawa coupling in the MSSM. In addition to the resummation of the dominant corrections for large values of tg$$ eta $$ β , we include the subleading terms related to the trilinear Higgs coupling $$A_b$$ A b and contributions induced by the electroweak gauge couplings. This calculation has been extended to the NNLO corrections to the MSSM strange-Yukawa coupling. Our analysis leads to residual theoretical uncertainties of the effective Yukawa couplings at the per-cent level.

Description: In the present work we study the implications at the future $$e^+e^-$$ e + e - colliders of the modified interaction vertices WWH, WWHH, HHH and HHHH within the context of the non-linear effective field theory given by the Electroweak Chiral Lagrangian. These vertices are given by four parameters, a, b, $$kappa _3$$ κ 3 and $$kappa _4$$ κ 4 , respectively, that are independent and without any constraint from symmetry considerations in this non-linear effective Lagrangian context, given the fact the Higgs field is a singlet. This is in contrast to the Standard Model, where the vertices are related by $$V_{WWH}^mathrm{SM}=v V_{WWHH}^mathrm{SM}$$ V WWH SM = v V WWHH SM and $$V_{HHH}^mathrm{SM}=v V_{HHHH}^mathrm{SM}$$ V HHH SM = v V HHHH SM , with $$v=246$$ v = 246 GeV. We investigate the implications of the absence of these relations in the Electroweak Chiral Lagrangian case. We explore the sensitivity to these Higgs anomalous couplings in the two main channels at these colliders: double and triple Higgs production (plus neutrinos). Concretely, we study the access to a and b in $$e^+e^- ightarrow HH u { ar{ u }}$$ e + e - → H H ν ν ¯ and the access to $$kappa _3$$ κ 3 and $$kappa _4$$ κ 4 in $$e^+e^- ightarrow HHH u { ar{ u }}$$ e + e - → H H H ν ν ¯ . Our study of the beyond the Standard Model couplings via triple Higgs boson production at $$e^+e^-$$ e + e - colliders is novel and shows for the first time the possible accessibility to the quartic Higgs self-coupling.
