    Description: The aim of the methodology is to give an understanding of elder abuse, typologies, manifestations, risks of occurrence and procedures for detection and solution. The methodology helps those who regularly come into contact with older people to put knowledge about elder abuse into practice. This can be anyone who is not, or should not be, indifferent to seeing an older person treated inappropriately. The methodology is primarily intended for people working in support services, with recommendations for other relevant actors such as general practitioners and specialists, the police, the social services of local authorities, etc. However, it can also be used by interested members of the public and by non-profit organisations, which also have an essential role to play in dealing with this phenomenon. The procedures and recommendations presented here are based on the research activities of the RESTABUS project, which draw on the findings of other research teams from all over the world and from a wide range of scientific disciplines, as well as on many years of experience in working with older people.

    Description: As transformações no discurso do personagem Paulo Honório durante o desenrolar do romance “São Bernardo”, de Graciliano Ramos, é o centro deste estudo, que tenta evidenciar que elas ocorrem concomitantemente às mudanças ocorridas na caracterização psicológica do protagonista. Para desenvolver tal análise, o autor se utiliza das formulações teóricas de Mikhail Bakhtin (1895-1975), para quem a prosa de ficção tem como eixo norteador uma concepção dialógica tanto das ideias quanto da linguagem veiculadas pela narrativa. A partir das definições de Bakhtin, o pesquisador demonstra que o discurso inicialmente convicto e manipulador do protagonista – predominantemente “monológico” – vai se modificando com a crescente interferência da personagem Madalena, o “outro” que porta uma consciência independente e que, aos poucos, acaba tornando o discurso de Paulo Honório, e a própria narrativa do romance, acentuadamente “dialógicos”. O autor identifica os elementos e estratégias discursivas que caracterizam essas duas instâncias no texto, interpretando a interdiscursividade, que se instaura nesse processo de mudança, como uma representação do conflito entre ideologias sociais opostas, que em vários trechos Graciliano trata usando a técnica da ironia, neste caso com forte conotação crítica.

    Description: The fire brigade was the first to dispatch emergency teams to the disaster area and provide assistance day and night, thanks to its omnipresence and versatility. This meant that local, voluntary firefighters were probably among the first rescue workers to fall victim. This contribution thrusts the fire brigade as a rescue service during the flood into the spotlight. This shows both the initial and the subsequent assistance provided by local fire brigades and additional units from outside the disaster area. Research has shown that the role played by the Dutch fire service – not to mention the Italian fire brigade –was massive and hugely significant, especially considering they worked under very dire circumstances and with limited resources.

    Description: An increasing number of preschool teachers have a master's degree, and in Norway, employing preschool teachers with a master’s-level education is a stated political objective. In both Norway and Denmark, there is growing demand for greater expertise in preschool and more career options for preschool teachers and educators. Thus, there is also a need for greater understanding about the impact of academic knowledge on preschool pedagogical practice. In this anthology, new empirical knowledge is presented on how master's-level competence is applied practically within the preschool context, and how academic knowledge is found relevant in practice. The empirical material that forms the basis of this anthology is qualitative interviews with master's-educated teachers in Norwegian and Danish preschools as well as a survey sent to all preschools in Norway. The anthology is also based on historical material and documents that highlight the rise of specialized education in general and master's education in particular. The book stems from the research project “Preschool master in practice”, a collaborative project between researchers at one Danish and two Norwegian educational institutions: VIA University College in Århus, Oslo Metropolitan University, and the University of South-Eastern Norway. The aim of the project has been to increase understanding of how master’s-educated preschool teachers’ feel their particular expertise is put to use, and how their expertise benefits the preschool and creates opportunities within the sector.
    Description: Stadig flere barnehagelærere har masterutdanning. I Norge er det også en uttalt politisk ambisjon om at det skal ansettes flere masterutdannede barnehagelærere i barnehagen. Både i Norge og Danmark ser vi en økende etterspørsel etter mer kompetanse i barnehagen og flere karriereveier for barnehagelærere og pedagoger. Dermed blir det også behov for mer kunnskap om hva som skjer i møtet mellom akademisk kunnskap og barnehagefaglig pedagogisk praksis. I denne antologien presenteres ny empirisk kunnskap om hvordan kompetanse på masternivå anvendes i barnehagen, og hvordan akademisk kunnskap gis relevans for barnehagens praksis. Det empiriske materialet som ligger til grunn for antologien, er kvalitative intervjuer med masterutdannede barnehagelærere i norske og danske barnehager og en spørreundersøkelse sendt ut til alle norske barnehager. Antologien er også basert på historisk materiale og dokumenter som synliggjør framveksten av videreutdanninger generelt og masterutdanning spesielt. Bokutgivelsen springer ut av forskningsprosjektet «Barnehagefaglig master i praksis», som er et samarbeidsprosjekt mellom forskere ved én dansk og to norske utdanningsinstitusjoner, henholdsvis VIA University College i Århus, OsloMet – storbyuniversitetet og Universitetet i Sørøst-Norge. Målet med prosjektet har vært å utvide kunnskapen om hvordan barnehagelærere med barnehagefaglig masterutdanning erfarer at deres kompetanse blir anvendt, og om hvordan kompetansen kommer barnehagen til gode og gis muligheter i sektoren.

    Description: This book is the most comprehensive Dutch-language reference work on Russian grammar. It is not primarily intended for beginners, but for users who have a decent basic knowledge of Russian. One can think of advanced students or course participants. The book is also written for users with a more than superficial interest in Russian. The topics are covered in depth and much attention is paid to making connections that help the user see the language as a coherent whole and not as a collection of separate facts. The book is basically laid out as one would expect from this genre (non-Russian-language grammars of Russian): first a chapter on writing and pronunciation, then the theory of form, broken down by word type, and the chapters covering meaning, usage and sentence structure. The Russian verb is notoriously complex, both in form and in meaning and usage. This grammar contains, after the form theory of the verb, separate chapters on meaning and usage of the various forms.

    Description: O tema e o conteúdo do livro BR-163 em 5 tempos: uma abordagem geo-foto-gráfica têm caráter essencialmente geográfico, o que desperta o interesse não somente de geógrafos, mas também de profissionais de outras áreas de conhecimento e interessados no tema da Amazônia Brasileira. A análise desenvolvida pelo autor está centrada num dos conceitos chaves da Geografia que é o de paisagem, o qual é empregado no decorrer de toda a obra como ferramenta de diálogo entre as ciências naturais e as ciências sociais em torno de questões socioambientais que envolvem a BR-163. A obra mostra, por meio de fotos e mapas, como a ‘paisagem geo-foto-gráfica’ se constitui num indicador dos processos de antropização de territórios emergentes e como a paisagem pode ser uma ferramenta de análise das dinâmicas espaciais na interface natureza-sociedade, a partir de processos relacionados à ocupação, à instalação de atividades econômicas, à atuação de órgãos governamentais, à marginalização de colonos pobres atraídos para a região e ao comprometimento da sobrevivência de populações indígenas nas áreas situadas nas zonas de influência do eixo da BR-163, entre Cuiabá e Santarém.

    Description: In 1869, Dutch military doctor Cornelis de Mooy invented the litter, ‘raderbaar’, a stretcher on wheels. It was a major improvement in several ways compared with the old brancards. It was comfortable for patients and only one hospital soldier was needed to move the wounded. Starting with the Aceh Wars (1873-1910), it became a huge medical success in the military as well as the civilian world. It was gradually replaced around the 1920s. The litter – and some other inventions he made – hugely reduced the wounded soldiers’ suffering and because of this De Mooy was praised by many as a great humanitarian, but in fact it was military efficiency that drove him. A better, swifter and less strenuous way of transporting the wounded was a means of improving military capabilities.

    Description: Kvotesystemet er det sentrale fiskeripolitiske virkemidlet for utnytting og fordeling av våre viltlevende marine fiskeressurser. Systemet består av flere deler eller reguleringssystemer som til sammen danner en rettslig ramme for tilgangen til å høste av og tjene på fellesskapets ressurser. Ved endringene av havressurslova og deltakerloven i 2021 har vi fått et nytt kvotesystem. I denne boken nøyer forfatteren seg ikke med å fremstille gjeldende fiskerilover og forskrifter i det nye kvotesystemet, men har en bredere tilnærming til temaet. Analysen gir blant annet leseren kunnskap om rettsfeltet slik dette er vokst frem over tid; status for endringer i virkemiddelbruken på rettsfeltet, særlig i kjølvannet av Stortingets behandling av kvotemeldingen, Meld.     Description: This article contains the personal account of Sergeant Reinder van de Put of the national police force, based on his correspondence after he was sent to the area affected by the 1953 North Sea flood. It first focuses on the unique letters and photographs that Reinder sent home from where he was deployed in Nieuw-Helvoet. These documents provide an insight into the national police’s work there and his personal experiences. The article describes what the national police faced one month on from the disaster and also provides an insight into the impact of the disaster on Reinder and his colleagues in Doornspijk, who were very close with each other – not only in how they stood together in solidarity but also how they supported each other.

    Description: After the occupation by German troops in May 1940, the German authorities demanded the Dutch fire service be remodelled in line with their own example. In Germany, firefighting had been a police task since 1938. Fire service columns were formed to stop the spread of large-scale fires after air attacks. A great deal of organisation was needed to deploy the large number of pumps, men and large quantities of water. In the Netherlands two mobile columns were formed, which ultimately comprised about 1200 men in two large units, each consisting of four companies with a total of 223 vehicles. The firefighters were trained in the German way and became highly disciplined. The units were deployed after air raids on Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Haarlem in 1943, and Nijmegen and The Hague in 1944. From February 1944, however, the Dutch units were also sent to help in different German cities under attack. The Dutch fire service columns were stationed in eight depots in The Hague, Rotterdam, Baarn, Weesp, Deurne and Winterswijk. The last of the Dutch column was disbanded and sent to the German Fire Service School in Beeskow near Berlin in September 1944.

    Description: Tid for lesing! handler om leseferdighetene til elever i tiårsalderen slik de er målt i den internasjonale undersøkelsen PIRLS i 2021. PIRLS 2021 ble gjennomført under covid-19-pandemien. Undersøkelsen inkluderer både en leseprøve og spørreskjemaer til elever, foresatte, norsklærere og rektorer. Som leseprøve måler PIRLS resultatet av flere års leseopplæring, ikke bare den opplæringa som har funnet sted i femte klasse. Når elevene er blitt ti år gamle, skal den grunnleggende leseferdigheten være nok utviklet til at de skal kunne lese og forstå tekster i mange ulike fag og sammenhenger. Samtidig er elevene fortsatt så unge at leseferdigheten kan forbedres i de tilfellene der ferdigheten er lav. Denne antologien utdyper resultatene fra kortrapporten (mai 2023) gjennom analyser av flere faktorer som kan ha betydning for barns leseutvikling. Kapitlene spenner over en rekke temaer, som betydningen av hjemmemiljø, skole og lærere for elevenes leseprestasjoner, elevenes lesevaner, elever med svake leseprestasjoner, hvordan elevene liker og presterer på tekstene i PIRLS, samt forskjeller mellom elever som tok PIRLS-prøven på papir og digitalt. Vi undersøker også mulige drivkrefter bak nedgangen i norske tiåringers leseforståelse.

    Description: Title in English: Motivation Support in Teaching German as a Foreign Language (and Beyond) With regard to the proven significant impact of motivation on learning processes and their success, promoting learner’s motivation can be described as an important part of pedagogical activity. The current book presents research investigations into learners’ motivation in learning German as a foreign language. A qualitative research design conducted as a multi-case study was chosen in order to gain a deeper insight into the issue of motivation. The results obtained showed the wide scope of teachers’ motivating influence on their learners. Many of the existing findings on motivation could be verified. Moreover, the specifics of motivation towards German as a second foreign language as well as the culturally conditioned specifics concerning Czech learners’ attitudes towards the German language have been highlighted.

    Description: In 1869, Dutch military doctor Cornelis de Mooy invented the litter, ‘raderbaar’, a stretcher on wheels. It was a major improvement in several ways compared with the old brancards. It was comfortable for patients and only one hospital soldier was needed to move the wounded. Starting with the Aceh Wars (1873-1910), it became a huge medical success in the military as well as the civilian world. It was gradually replaced around the 1920s. The litter – and some other inventions he made – hugely reduced the wounded soldiers’ suffering and because of this De Mooy was praised by many as a great humanitarian, but in fact it was military efficiency that drove him. A better, swifter and less strenuous way of transporting the wounded was a means of improving military capabilities.

O estudo estimulou, em 2017, a realização do I Encontro sobre Uso Público em Unidades de Conservação. Diversos trabalhos e palestras foram apresentados; alguns deles participam desta obra. Qual a finalidade do programa de uso público em uma unidade de conservação? Os parques têm como um dos principais motivos de sua existência a promoção da educação ambiental e da visitação pública em uma UC. Tal finalidade lhes confere a função relacional entre o bem comum, como valor da natureza e sua dinâmica conservada, e os diversos sujeitos que se relacionam com esses territórios protegidos. A conservação da natureza é um direito de todos, mas, para que todos tenham esse direito, é necessário compreender os significados que a sociedade confere a esses territórios. E esse é, portanto, o principal papel do programa de uso público de uma unidade de conservação.

    Description: This article contains the personal account of Sergeant Reinder van de Put of the national police force, based on his correspondence after he was sent to the area affected by the 1953 North Sea flood. It first focuses on the unique letters and photographs that Reinder sent home from where he was deployed in Nieuw-Helvoet. These documents provide an insight into the national police’s work there and his personal experiences. The article describes what the national police faced one month on from the disaster and also provides an insight into the impact of the disaster on Reinder and his colleagues in Doornspijk, who were very close with each other – not only in how they stood together in solidarity but also how they supported each other.

    Description: Between 1924 and 1979, 50 municipal police forces in the Netherlands were involved in transporting injured people by motor vehicle. As well as genuine ambulances, they also used auxiliary ambulances or multi-purpose vehicles, i.e. cars fitted with a stretcher. This task fell under their duty to maintain public order and deal with road accidents, which was entrusted to the police. During the German occupation of the Netherlands between May 1940 and May 1945, the police continued its task of transporting wounded people. After the Second World War, several police forces purchased multi-purpose vehicles, especially in smaller towns. Their busiest period came in the 1950s and 60s as a wave of traffic accidents swept across the Netherlands. In 1979, the role of the police in transporting wounded people came to an end because ambulance care had professionalized and the police wanted to focus on traditional tasks.

    Description: Title in English: The future of metropolitan cooperation in the czech republic: development, governance, management Metropolitan regions are engines of economic growth, where research, innovation, technology and creative human potential are concentrated. The cooperation of municipalities in metropolitan regions in economically developed Europe dates back to the mid-1990s, while in the Czech Republic this new form of cooperation has been discussed more intensively since 2014, when three metropolitan areas and ten urban agglomerations were defined. However, there is still no systemic coordination of the problems and needs of metropolitan areas. The first activities aimed at real strengthening of metropolitan cooperation and development took place in the Brno Metropolitan Area within the framework of the TAČR ÉTA project “Institutionalization of metropolitan cooperation as a factor to increase the motivation of municipalities to cooperate in metropolitan areas”. The aim of the publication is to present the results of the project, experiences from abroad and their possible application in the Czech environment, as well as real steps to set up metropolitan inter-municipal cooperation.

    Description: On 13 March 1908, the National Bureau for the Collection of Data on the Trade in Women and Girls was founded. The 47-year-old H.J.A. Simons de Ruyter was appointed National Police Commissioner. He proved to be the best person for the job owing to his passion for gathering and recording vital data, his knowledge of languages and his dedicated, helpful and generous personality. The Bureau and the police worked with women’s organisations to monitor activities and carry out checks at stations and ports where women and girls who could be exposed to a lewd lifestyle might be travelling. After legislation on morality was passed in 1911, the Bureau was given an additional task in 1914 to tackle trade in lewd publications. After the First World War erupted that year, there was not much more to do at the Bureau, which led Simons de Ruyter to support the immigration authorities in Amsterdam at his own request. This consisted mainly of finding accommodation, providing healthcare, food, clothing and financial assistance and helping to repatriate Belgian refugees.

    Description: The aim of the research report is to present the results of the representative survey carried out in the RESTABUS project. This survey is the first of its kind and scope in the Czech Republic in its focus on mapping the prevalence of elder abuse, exploitation, neglect, other violence and undermining of dignity of older people (EAN). The survey was carried out among 2687 respondents aged 65 to 99 years living at home (outside residential care) and is representative of the older population in the Czech Republic. The topic of EAN is complemented by issues of the perceived prevalence of EAN in the public space, capturing attitudes towards restorative justice, and early trauma incidents (experience of violence in childhood and middle age). Thus, the research not only describes the level of prevalence of violence and ill-treatment of older people in the Czech Republic, but also maps the impact of experienced incidents on the quality of life of persons at risk, ascertains the attitudes of the older people towards the functionality of available forms of help and support, and suggests the direction of their possible further development. The report includes a methodological section, a results section and a tabular annex.

    Description: A autora se debruça sobre uma questão clássica no campo da literatura, que é o sentido e o papel da linguagem em obras escritas em outra língua, que não a materna, exercício de proposital errância de identidade que atraiu escritores do porte de Samuel Beckett, Paul Celan, Elias Canetti, Franz Kafka, Eugène Ionesco, Vladimir Nabokov,Guillaume Apollinaire e Joseph Conrad, apenas para citar alguns. No trabalho, são analisados dois textos que, para a pesquisadora, problematizam bastante bem a definição do que é essa língua não-materna na escrita literária: “Amour Bilingue” (1983/1992), do marroquino Abdelkebir Khatibi, e “Le monolinguisme de l’autre” (1996), do judeu argelino e francês por adoção Jacques Derrida. Este último foi traduzido para o árabe justamente por Khatibi, com quem ele dialogava incessantemente. Para a pesquisadora, os dois autores têm em comum mais do que a proveniência magrebina e o fato de escreverem em uma língua distinta da de seus países de origem. A afinidade entre eles se manifestaria ainda mais no trabalho refinado do pensamento – rigorosamente dentro de uma tradição que poderia ser chamada de francesa -, no cultivo do amor pela língua e pela literatura e também no conflito de identidades colocado por esta maneira radical de se estar no mundo, balizas para uma profícua discussão sobre o pertencimento e sobre a língua.

Must the organisation commit criminal offences, or are there other starting points for banning it? Another key question is what kind of organisations can be banned. Are, for example, political parties and denominations excluded, given the special function of these organisations in our society? Other important questions are how the procedure works, which body is authorised to ban and how legal protection against a ban is designed. In answering these questions, the author focuses on the fundamental question of the extent to which the regulation complies with the requirements arising from the freedom of association enshrined in our Constitution and treaties binding under international law. By no means all regulations meet these requirements. With a comparative law analysis of German and French law, the author makes recommendations to improve our prohibition regime on these issues

    Description: The Cold War was a tense time. The Netherlands took precautions to protect its people from potential disasters, in particular nuclear threats. One crucial aspect of this was the establishment of the Civil Defence Corps. The organisation played a key role in setting up command stations and training centres, such as the one in Overvoorde, Rijswijk, near The Hague, which ran exercises and training to prepare people for possible disasters. From large practice ruins to advanced alarm systems, the complex was fully equipped to deal with a broad range of threats. Although the threat of a nuclear attack subsided and the Civil Defence was officially disbanded in 1985, these command stations retained their importance. Many of them have since been repurposed, from storage sites to museums. The bunkers in Overvoorde now serve as an educational centre under the management of Korpora, the Public Safety Heritage Centre. By preserving these sites, we can ensure that future generations can learn from the past and the sacrifices that were made for their safety.

Objetiva apresentar abordagens teóricas e práticas de educação em saúde nas diferentes etapas do ciclo de desenvolvimento em distintos cenários da atenção à saúde das famílias latino-americanas. Apresenta estudos que envolvem os seguintes temas: práticas educativas e de cuidados com a saúde dos indivíduos e famílias em diferentes cenários; formação de médicos e enfermeiros em saúde familiar e comunitária; bioética para o cuidado a saúde; referenciais teóricos/práticos e de pesquisa para avaliação da saúde da família. Atenção à saúde das famílias latino-americanas: abordagens teóricas e práticas na educação é fruto da união de experiências de profissionais da saúde, cujo movimento levou à criação da Rede Latino-americana de Enfermagem de Família liderada pela Universidade Federal de Pelotas do Brasil, Universidade de La República, do Uruguai e a Fundação Growing Up, da Colômbia. Essa rede reúne mais de 130 profissionais com o propósito de promover avanços na área de enfermagem de família, dar visibilidade e difundir conhecimentos teóricos, práticos e de pesquisa voltado à saúde das famílias.

    Description: Este livro, de Nelson Rodrigo Pedon, fruto do trabalho de diversos pesquisadores, faz uma análise dos movimentos sociais sob a perspectiva geográfica, com base na formulação de movimentos socioespaciais e movimentos socioterritoriais. Quando ainda era estudante de geografia, o pesquisador decidiu investigar a forma como os moradores de um bairro da periferia se organizavam para, em busca de soluções para os problemas locais, chamar a atenção do poder público. Ele então deu início à sistematização de ideias que o induziram a propor uma hipótese: nas relações de poder que os homens estabelecem entre si, o espaço adquire condição de território; dessa forma, a ação política de grande parte da classe trabalhadora envolve a conquista do espaço – e, portanto, a delimitação de seu poder manifestado na forma de território amplia suas capacidades, permitindo maior controle sobre os processos que condicionam suas vidas. A partir dessa formulação e de pesquisas sobre reivindicações populares junto a uma associação de moradores, o autor estabeleceu a relação entre topografia, condições de vida e participação política, imprescindível para que ele pudesse refletir sobre a importância da Geografia na compreensão dos processos sociais, cuja questão fundamental, ele afirma, é essencialmente territorial. “Esta obra pode ser considerada como um esforço de afirmação da identidade da ciência geográfica no conjunto das ciências humanas”, escreve Pedon.

Nesse quadro, nos impulsiona desvelar os papéis da aprendizagem musical.

    Description: A obra reúne uma série de ensaios produzidos a partir da preocupação do autor em colaborar com o desenvolvimento de diferentes aspectos da Atenção psicossocial. Para ele, a Atenção psicossocial é o “conjunto de ações realizadas no campo da saúde mental, geralmente denominadas tratamento, cuidado, promoção e mesmo atenção” A definição do paradigma de Atenção psicossocial é o objeto dos ensaios e lhes dá unidade, embora cada texto possa ser lido independentemente. Para o autor, o termo “psicossocial”, que tradicionalmente se referia apenas a aspectos psíquicos e sociais secundários à prática psiquiátrica, passou a aspirar o status de conceito, determinando um novo campo da práxis, a partir do momento em que a crítica mais radical à atividade psiquiátrica contribui para sua transformação. Nas últimas décadas, desde que o Ministério da Saúde estabeleceu a Atenção psicossocial como política pública nacional, delimitou-se um campo de saberes baseados em um ideário ético-político que veio a substituir a psiquiatria centrada nas práticas hospitalares e médicas. E, embora hoje o antigo modo de exercício da psiquiatria se encontre subordinado ideologicamente, continua sendo percebido nas práticas cotidianas. De acordo com o autor, “este conjunto de ensaios, com as preocupações teóricas, técnicas e éticas que os atravessam, pretende ser uma contribuição para melhorar nossas caixas de ressonância para a receptividade das demandas dos indivíduos que nos procuram nas instituições substitutivas do manicômio e do hospital psiquiátrico”.

    Description: Kniha Mezi Markem Marci a Löwem z Erlsfeldu je prvním monografickým pojednáním o obsahu výuky na pražské lékařské fakultě v době barokní; titul odkazuje ke dvěma významným českým profesorům medicíny té doby. Výklad je chronologicky rámován obnovením lékařské fakulty po bitvě na Bílé hoře a počátkem vlády císařovny Marie Terezie (1740). Čtenář se nejprve dozví, co a z jakých učebnic se v pobělohorské době v Praze studovalo, včetně širšího kontextu dobové medicíny ve srovnání s fakultami v cizině. Dále se studie detailněji zaměřila na některé aspekty lékařských teorií v díle Jana Marka Marci z Kronlandu, např. na historii počátků středoevropského očkování proti neštovicím. Součástí pojednání je i podrobný rozbor prolínání lékařských teorií s dobovou filozofií. Nechybí ani popis postupného šíření objevu krevního oběhu ve středoevropské lékařské literatuře, na němž lze dobře pozorovat, jak se v baroku medicína postupně modernizovala. Práce rehabilituje baroko tradičně vykládané jako doba „temna“, neboť ukazuje, jak se lékařská učenost onoho období v Praze originálně rozvíjela a jak vzkvétala.

    Middle Cambrian agnostoids and trilobites from the Lower Allochthon, Swedish Caledonides (2024)

    Description: A middle Cambrian (Miaolingian) agnostoid-paradoxidid fauna from the Alum Shale Formation of the Lower Allochthon in the Caledonides of northwestern Sweden is described. More than 1000 specimens were collected from 46 localities in the Blaik Nappe Complex. This complex represents displaced strata, originally deposited on the distal outer shelf of Baltica. Strong tectonic overprint prevented systematic bed-by-bed sampling, but the collected fauna represents the Pentagnostus praecurrens, Triplagnostus gibbus, Acidusus atavus, Ptychagnostus punctuosus, Goniagnostus nathorsti and lower part of the Lejopyge laevigata agnostoid zones. The Hawke Bay hiatus encompasses the Kibartian and basal Bödan stages. Higher up, the upper part of the L. laevigata Zone appears to be absent, and the overlying Agnostus pisiformis Zone is found only at a few localities, developed as the Exporrecta Conglomerate. This is suggestive of local isostatic uplift in the late Miaolingian. One new species, Cotalagnostus greilingi n. sp., is described and Lejopyge calva Robinson, Hypagnostus clipeus Whitehouse, Doryagnostus deltoides Robinson and Lisogoragnostus confluentus (Rudolph) are for the first time reported from Sweden. All other taxa recorded are known also from the Miaolingian of southern Scandinavia, but the faunal composition in terms of relative frequencies differs. Agnostoid arthropods dominate (39 taxa) with trilobites (17 taxa) as a minor to rare constituent. The palaeoecology of Miaolingian faunas described from Scandinavia is discussed briefly. Three benthic biofacies are recognized, representing a depth transect from well-ventilated inner shelf environments dominated by a diverse trilobite fauna with sparse to infrequent agnostoids (southern Scandinavia) to outer shelf dysoxic environments with more frequent agnostoids and sparse to no trilobites (study area).

    Description: Esta obra discute a contribuição do educador paulista Theodoro de Moraes (1877-1956) para a disseminação da assim denominada “pedagogia moderna” no Brasil, tanto por meio de sua atuação em cargos e funções no magistério como de sua produção ensaística e pedagógica, extremamente prolífera. Além de participar da produção de documentos oficiais, Moraes elaborou artigos para periódicos, textos de literatura infantil, livros, cartilhas e ainda foi tradutor e conferencista. O educador, de acordo com a autora, defendia com ênfase o ensino da leitura para crianças e para adolescentes e adultos, pelo chamado método analítico, um componente essencial da pedagogia moderna e que se destaca pela busca da praticidade e o uso da intuição. Por este método, o ensino deve ser gradual, completo e contínuo, de modo a favorecer a atividade individual do aluno. O processo de ensino seguiria, dessa forma, “do mais simples para o mais complicado” e avançaria “passo a passo”. O educador prescrevia ainda prática e exercícios constantes e o uso comedido das regras durante o transcorrer das atividades didáticas. Muito graças a Moraes, o método analítico para o ensino inicial da leitura – que se tornara oficial para as escolas primárias do estado de São Paulo entre o fim do século 19 e o início do século 20 – teve um inegável revigoramento e deixaria marcas indeléveis na educação do país.

    Description: Tadeusz Kantor (Polônia, 1915-1990) foi um dos mais importantes homens do teatro do século XX, e seu trabalho, fortemente influenciado pelas artes plásticas, principalmente pelas vanguardas do início do século passado (Construtivismo, Bauhaus, Dadaísmo, Surrealismo, Expressionismo). Seu teatro é marcado pela ocorrência de imagens fortes e perturbadoras, principalmente a partir da encenação de A classe morta (1975). Entre os vários elementos de sustentação, os objetos (sejam reais, cotidianos ou construídos exclusivamente para finalidade cênica) transpassam toda a sua obra. No entanto, Kantor nunca explicou satisfatoriamente essa ocorrência em seu teatro. Nesse sentido, este livro trata da reflexão sobre o objeto no teatro de Kantor, tendo como tema central a demonstração do objeto como elemento responsável pela criação de outra realidade de tempo e espaço onde seus espetáculos acontecem.

    Description: Os edifícios desempenharam um papel importante na história soviética, desde o assalto ao Palácio de Inverno, em outubro de 1917, até à defesa da Casa Branca de Moscovo, durante a tentativa de golpe de estado de 1991. Nos anos 30, os «Velhos Bolcheviques» mudaram-se das «Casas dos Sovietes», antigos hotéis onde viviam de forma mais ou menos comunitária, para a «Casa do Governo», um grande edifício onde residiam em apartamentos de família, rodeados por guardas e criadas. E não foi só de edifícios realmente existentes que se fez a história da URSS, a qual se assemelhava a um grande apartamento comunitário. Esta coletânea inclui um artigo seminal sobre a União Soviética como uma federação multinacional, na qual diferentes repúblicas nacionais ocupavam quartos semiautónomos, seguindo-se um ensaio sobre a relação entre o amor jovem, os «Velhos Bolcheviques» e a domesticidade a que se viram condenados. Termina com uma conversa sobre as casas soviéticas, a historiografia sobre a URSS e o percurso do próprio Yuri Slezkine.

    Description: O autor analisa aqui a permanência, após a mudança das normas de nomeação, do prestígio social dos milicianos civis da Guarda Nacional do Município de Mariana (MG), província com a maior população livre e escrava do Brasil durante a Regência. Naquele período, a milícia prestava serviços não remunerados e utilizando recursos próprios, com base na noção de honra social e no sentimento de obrigação para com o soberano, suprindo a falta de funcionários públicos necessários à manutenção da ordem social. O soberano, em troca, concedia dádivas, honras e mercês aos oficiais. Até a segunda metade do século 19, os oficiais eram escolhidos por meio de eleições em que votavam os próprios milicianos. E, para se tornar miliciano, bastava ao pleiteante ter status de cidadão ativo, ou seja, ter a mínima condição financeira para votar e ser votado nas eleições primárias. Tal sistema era duramente criticado pelas autoridades, que o consideravam potencialmente perigoso, uma vez que possibilitava a indivíduos não brancos, destituídos de status social em uma sociedade escravocrata, exercerem postos de liderança. No entanto, a partir da segunda metade do século 19, quando os movimentos “perturbadores da ordem” se enfraquecem e o Império torna-se pacificado, o Exército ganha importância e projeção e os políticos conservadores reformam a Guarda Nacional, por meio da Lei 602, de 19 de setembro de 1850. Entre outras determinações, essa lei abole o sistema eleitoral, de forma que os oficiais, daí em diante, passaram a ser nomeados pelos presidentes das províncias mediante propostas encaminhadas pelos comandantes locais. Mais do que mero capricho jurídico, a nomeação tinha por finalidade romper com o “ranço democrático” da lei anterior e reafirmar a hierarquização no interior da corporação. O autor sugere que, mesmo com a abolição do pleito eleitoral em 1850, os oficiais continuaram a demonstrar carisma, pois o líder deve provar-se como tal perante seus pares, sob pena de descrédito na sua autoridade.

    Description: V západní Evropě sice volební volatilita za posledních třicet až čtyřicet let významně narostla, skutečnou explozi voličské nestability ovšem spojujeme se zeměmi bývalého komunistického bloku ve východní Evropě. Tato publikace se proto zaměřuje na výzkum volební volatility v 11 postkomunistických státech střední a východní Evropy od roku 1990 do roku 2020. Volební volatilitu studie chápe jako změnu voličské preference ve volbách jdoucích po sobě. Jelikož přechody voličů mezi stranami se odehrávají všemi různými směry, rozhodli se autoři zaměřit svou výzkumnou pozornost na ty, které považují v postkomunistickém kontextu za nejdůležitější v celkové sumě všech voličských přechodů. Zaprvé se jedná o hlasování pro nové strany a tedy přechody voličů k novým stranám. Zadruhé jsou vyčleněny přechody voličů od vládních stran. Oba procesy (ztráty vládních stran a zisky nových stran) podstatným způsobem přispívají k výši volební volatility. Celková úroveň agregované volební volatility dosahovala v postkomunistických státech průměrné hodnoty 31 procent. Agregovaná volatilita je měřena na základě změny v podpoře jednotlivých stran v po sobě jdoucích volbách a představuje nejnižší nutný podíl přechodů mezi stranami, který je nutný, aby mohly nastat reálné volební výsledky ve volbách jdoucích po sobě. Na individuální úrovni jsou přechody ještě četnější. Na základě analýzy individuálních dat z dotazníkových šetření autoři zjistili, že průměrná voličská volatilita dosahovala dokonce 44 procent. Téměř každý druhý volič změnil svou preferenci. Volatilita na individuální úrovni je tak mnohem vyšší, než potvrzují analýzy volebních výsledků. Jak měřit a zkoumat volební volatilitu? Proč vznikají nové strany? A co ovlivňuje jejich volební úspěšnost? Získávaly nové strany větší podporu v době po přechodu k demokracii nebo spíše v poslední době? Přispívají k volatilitě spíše vládní nebo opoziční strany? A nakolik je volební volatilita způsobena ztrátami vládních stran?

Krav til nyskaping kjem også til UH-sektoren, og dei ulike bidraga i antologien drøftar kva rolle UH-sektoren kan ha i nyskapinga. Nokre av kapitla tar fatt på denne debatten på eit prinsipielt nivå, gjennom å diskutere det opp mot UH-sektoren si rolle og mandatet til institusjonar innan høgare utdanning og forsking. Andre kapittel, med empiri i all hovudsak forankra i «fjordregionen», gjev viktige praktiske døme på korleis slike nyskapingsprosessar utfoldar seg i praksis. Fleire av kapitla diskuterer i større grad nyskapingar – altså produktet snarare enn prosessen. Diskusjonane frå kapitla i denne antologien syner at omgrepet nyskaping er mangfaldig. Eit viktig funn er at nyskapingsomgrepet ser ut til å representere noko anna og lettare handgripeleg for mange av aktørane enn det meir etablerte innovasjonsomgrepet. Det mogleggjer nye former for samhandling og innsikt som også er relevant langt utover regionen døma tek utgangspunkt i.

    Description: On 13 March 1908, the National Bureau for the Collection of Data on the Trade in Women and Girls was founded. The 47-year-old H.J.A. Simons de Ruyter was appointed National Police Commissioner. He proved to be the best person for the job owing to his passion for gathering and recording vital data, his knowledge of languages and his dedicated, helpful and generous personality. The Bureau and the police worked with women’s organisations to monitor activities and carry out checks at stations and ports where women and girls who could be exposed to a lewd lifestyle might be travelling. After legislation on morality was passed in 1911, the Bureau was given an additional task in 1914 to tackle trade in lewd publications. After the First World War erupted that year, there was not much more to do at the Bureau, which led Simons de Ruyter to support the immigration authorities in Amsterdam at his own request. This consisted mainly of finding accommodation, providing healthcare, food, clothing and financial assistance and helping to repatriate Belgian refugees.

    Description: O livro faz uma exuberante reconstituição da boemia paulistana entre os anos de 1860 e 1920, quando São Paulo teve a sua primeira fase de crescimento explosivo e a população saltou de pouco mais de 30 mil habitantes para algo em torno de 200 mil, graças à chegada em massa de imigrantes, principalmente italianos desencantados com a lavoura, e de estudantes de outros estados do país, a maioria deles para estudar na Faculdade de Direito do Largo São Francisco. Inspirado pelo trabalho do pensador alemão Walter Benjamin (1892-1940), que avaliou os gostos e costumes da Paris da Belle Époque, a autora retrata como eram as tabernas da época e como se comportavam os seus frequentadores, reconstituindo, assim, as relações sociais e pessoais que permeavam o consumo de álcool na São Paulo daquela época. Também faz um minucioso mapeamento da produção e do consumo de bebidas alcoólicas na cidade durante o período. A pesquisa ainda desvela, como pano de fundo, os gestos e sensibilidades do cotidiano da cidade nesse momento anterior à industrialização, captando costumes e modos de vida e pondo à mostra toda uma cultura gestual, material e historicamente construída, que logo acabaria por se transformar inteiramente.

    Description: In 2022, Korpora, the Public Safety Heritage Centre opened – tasked with acquiring, managing and exhibiting physical and digital collections on public safety in the Netherlands. Today, Korpora includes the national collections of the Dutch police and the fire service, the Dutch Red Cross and the former Civil Defence service. Korpora’s roots go back to the early 20th century, when firefighting and police enthusiasts began collecting heritage items from these organisations and putting them on display. Despite setbacks due to a lack of funding and a suitable home for the objects, as well as a lack of historical awareness within those organisations, a great deal of heritage items still managed to be preserved. Thanks to the dozen or so foundations – some already in existence, some set up later – the heritage has been preserved, expanded and ultimately culminated in Korpora’s rich and astounding subcollections.

    Description: Since poison gas was used during World War I, long-range bombers had been introduced and tensions were rising in Europe, the Air Raid Precautions Act was passed in the Netherlands in 1936. The legislation emphasised individual responsibility for self-protection. This meant that citizens had to buy a gas mask themselves. The Gas Mask Decree (1937) required all gas mask models for Civil Defence units and civilians to be approved by the Dutch State Arsenal. Facepieces and filter canisters had to be marked with the State Acceptance Number and year(s) of approval and production. This paper identifies and describes the gas masks used by police, fire brigades, Civil Defence units and individual citizens, 1931-1940. Three models are heavy, regular Army box respirators, whose filter containers are worn in a haversack on the chest. All the other models are lighter civilian gas masks, with an easily replaceable screw-on filter canister attached to the facepiece. The gas masks were carried in a basic satchel or cylindrical metal case. Two Dutch-made gas masks have a peculiar design: the Veritex gas mask’s facepiece has a swimcap type hood; the Hevea-Electro Model 128 gas mask’s facepiece has no outlet valve. Air is inhaled and exhaled through the filter canister.

Men hva mener vi med forskningskommunikasjon – og hva bør vi snakke om? Er historien om at folks tillit til forskning står i en historisk krise så enkel som den ofte blir fortalt? Og har vi egentlig det forskningsbaserte kunnskapsgrunnlaget vi trenger for å ha disse diskusjonene? Denne boken springer ut av et samarbeid mellom forskere fra ulike fagfelt som har jobbet med problemstillinger knyttet til forskningskommunikasjon og forskningens rolle i samfunnet over lengre tid.     Description: Skjønnlitteraturens ungdommer er saftrike slyngelalderskikkelser. Slyngelalderen er en rampete, utforskende og uforutsigbar livsfase. Den skjønnlitterære ungdommen er, som ungdom ellers, i en prosess der de både skal finne ut av seg selv og kaste seg ut i verden. Selv om dette gjør skjønnlitterær ungdom saft- og næringsrik for den litterære fortolkeren, har de sjeldent fanget litteraturforskerens interesse. Den ellers så omsvermede ungdommen har rett og slett vært oversett som litterært tema og motiv. I denne boken retter vi derfor blikket mot ungdom i skjønnlitteraturen. Hvilken plass og funksjon har ungdom i litteraturen? Artiklene i antologien viser at enkelte bruker litteraturen for å vise ungdom hva de bør være, mens andre er opptatt av å utvide forståelsen av ungdom gjennom skildringer av hva ungdom er. Artiklene belyser skjønnlitterær ungdom fra 1700-tallet fram til vår tid, og de tydeliggjør samlet sett at saftrik ungdom florerer i litteraturen, også der man trodde de kanskje ikke fantes. Ungdom bør følgelig betraktes som et sentralt og kraftfullt litterært motiv. Artiklene i antologien dekker et bredt spekter: Her undersøkes både kjente og ukjente og eldre så vel som nyere tekster. Nedslagene er hovedsakelig i skandinavisk litteratur, men linjene trekkes også mot Europa. Boken retter seg mot studenter, undervisere og forskere i lærerutdanningene og i litteraturvitenskap og mot alle andre som har interesse for skjønnlitteratur og ungdom.
