    Beschreibung: In the last few decades, the organization of religious education classes in Swiss public school has been the object of profound public scrutiny. In the wake of these debates, most cantons have introduced a new course under the responsibility of the State in which a plurality of religions is presented. The attribution of this new competence to the State has prompted the reaction of various religious communities and has stimulated, within these communities, a reflection on their social role. Drawing on forty in-depth interviews with representatives of different religious communities, this study analyzes the strategies used by religious actors to position themselves in the public sphere. Against this backdrop, the study discusses the evolution of the relationships between religious communities and society and puts forward new perspectives in the sociological debate on the public presence of religion.

    Beschreibung: L’autonomie des établissements scolaires est devenue un thème récurrent des débats éducatifs. On lui prête de nombreuses vertus. Il s’agirait tout à la fois de favoriser les initiatives pédagogiques et de rendre les écoles plus agiles et mieux adaptées à leurs contextes locaux. Cette autonomie fait aussi naître bien des craintes, particulièrement quand elle semble synonyme de développement de logiques concurrentielles. En France, les polémiques sur ce thème présentent alternativement l’autonomie comme une arme « contre » les enseignants ou comme un dispositif qui les « libéreraient ». Plutôt que de s’en tenir à des controverses générales, il a été choisi dans cet ouvrage, d’une part, de mobiliser la littérature internationale et des études de situations dans d’autres pays, et d’autre part, d’aborder une expérience précise d’autonomie pédagogique dans un collège français. En confrontant ces analyses et ces témoignages, ce quatrième opus des Entretiens Ferdinand Buisson propose des pistes opérationnelles pour favoriser les interactions entre recherches universitaires et pratiques professionnelles sur cette question sensible.

    Beschreibung: Une première génération d’enquêtes sociologiques a montré que la relation entre l’école et les familles dépend d’un rapport de classe. Ce livre s’inscrit dans une deuxième génération d’enquêtes qui se déploie dans une institution scolaire convertie à la collaboration, où la relation avec les familles devrait être plus égalitaire. Stefanie Rienzo est allée à la rencontre d’un petit groupe d’enseignants et de parents autour d’élèves de 10–12 ans : en combinant des observations et des entretiens, elle éclaire les dynamiques communicationnelles et les raisons des postures et stratégies dans l’échange. Son enquête montre que tous les participants ont des attentes fortes à propos de la collaboration. Elle est pourtant source d’insatisfaction, voire de ressentiment, et se réalise inégalement entre milieux sociaux. Au fil de l’analyse apparaissent les résistances au changement du rapport école‑familles. Les inégalités sociales ont fait place aux inégalités de participation : à l’école désormais de se demander comment collaborer avec les parents sans se déresponsabiliser de l’échec scolaire.

    Beschreibung: The school, a reflection of a nation’s values and moral standards, is faced with well-being challenges. Through a selection of articles from presentations given within the framework of the Working Group (GT11, which became CR40 in 2022) of the 21st International Congress of the International Association of French-speaking Sociologists (AISLF) held in 2021 in Tunis, this book discusses the school environment, discrimination, and the influence of norms on educational actors. Organized into three parts, it addresses public policies, recognition as a factor of well-being/distress, and interpersonal relationships. The multidisciplinary studies question reductive dogmas and examine school violence from various perspectives.     Beschreibung: This book aims to answer a controversial question in our society: how to help the children of gypsy communities to succeed in school? For a long time, the gypsy community has been singled out as being on the margins, difficult to educate because often absent, living in a multilingual environment (a home language different from school) and particularly impoverished. The challenge of working on and with these children who are also students, beyond the possible benefits for their academic success, is to highlight the linguistic and teaching approaches that would allow the school to include all children, whatever their real or imaged specificities might be, in order to teach all groups more effectively, including those who do not have any academic “problem” to start with. This book, intended for researchers and students of language sciences, didactics, education and related disciplines (sociology, anthropology, etc.), is also accessible to teachers regardless of their teaching subject, as well as to families and the general public. From the strict point of view of research, the original nature of the project is to rely on (socio)linguistics, development and didactics – fields rooted in language sciences. Our objective is to approach the phenomenon of academic difficulty through the medium of languages (in the family and at school) and their acquisition, while including the social dimensions and didactic implications of this reflection.

Suggestions for the implementation of oncological prevention in teaching health education” is focused on the prevention of oncological diseases and it is intended for teachers of upper primary schools for teaching Health Education, eventually Biology. Cancer is nowadays one of the most common diseases. Prevention plays important role in decreasing the incidence of oncological diseases, therefore it is very important that the basic knowledge about prevention of oncological diseases be given to primary school pupils. The main purpose is to acquaint pupils with primary and secondary prevention of oncological diseases and to increase their health literacy in this area. The material includes a suggestion for 20 lessons. Each of them contains professional information for teachers’ theoretical preparation, suggestions for the lesson, a worksheet with solutions, and proposal activities on the topic.
