    Description: The volume, dedicated to the 44th International Conference of the Italian Union for Drawing, investigates the theme of ‘Transitions’, which particularly effectively represents our time and the current condition of the discipline of Drawing. The term, beyond its generic meaning of an intermediate stage in a process in which a condition changes from one state to another, has always been used in various fields, from music to geophysics. In fact, the disciplines of drawing have always been confronted with themes and issues relating to transitions from one condition to another. The history of representation tells us of transformations, even epochal ones, relating to ‘drawing’, with all that such transitions entail: suffice it to think of the evolution of forms of representation, of instrumental apparatuses, of the mutability of supports, of the analogical-digital transition underway, of the new modes of communication on platforms, of the hypertrophic offer of images also on the net that confirms Guy Debord’s intuitions relating to the new spectacularisation of society. Similarly, representation triggers transitions in the prefiguration and communication of design, the anticipation and foreshadowing of future events.The challenges posed by the digital pose open questions whose scope can only be glimpsed, such as the relationship between drawing and the act of modelling, and the construction of new paradigms of visual language and communication. ‘Transitions’, almost implicitly, points to possible futures, the evolution of technique and the search for new modes of expression; at the same time, however, it can suggest silences and reflections in a process of connection between history, theory, criticism and construction.

    Description: The construction of the cloister of Toledo Cathedral took place between the 14th and 15th centuries. The comparison of the accounting documentation it generated with the monument itself and the lapidary signs identified thanks to the application of new technologies, has made it possible to approach the daily life of one of the most important construction undertakings of the Castilian Middle Ages and to contribute to a new reading of the resources, the people and the organization of the stonemasonry workshops.

    Description: This publication originates from the research project "The action of joy, happiness, contentment and rejoicing as contemporary imperatives: a factory of artificial smiles", which proposed to think about the phenomenon of the quasi-obligatory nature of being happy in order to adapt to life in contemporary society. One of its products was a lecture in the Psychology program of the same name of this publication, in the form of a conversation that brought together different specialists to discuss the topic. These same specialists were invited to elaborate the pages of this book, and others were invited to broaden the discussion. A work conceived and written by several hands.

Uno de sus productos fue una cátedra en el programa de Psicología del mismo nombre de esta publicación, en forma de conversatorio que reunía algunos/as diferentes especialistas para debatir el tema. Esos/as mismo/as especialistas fueron invitados/as a elaborar las páginas de este libro, y otros/as más fueron invitados/as para ampliar la discusión. Una obra pensada y escrita a varias manos.

La movilidad espacial y social se encuentra con frecuencia en el corazón de los mecanismos de estos cambios. A través de los lazos existentes entre movilidad y antroponimia, este libro propone nuevas vías y numerosos instrumentos de análisis para estudiar la historia de los nombres.     Description: Cuando la oralidad era imperante, siete soldados de la Monarquía sintieron la necesidad de escribir sus autobiografías en la primera mitad del siglo xvii. Entre ellos, el capitán Alonso de Contreras, cuya obra, vital, cautivó a Ortega y Gasset. Con sus plumas retrataron al Imperio, del Mediterráneo al Índico. Esa fotografía del Leviatán —el Estado Moderno—, en sus años formativos, constituye el principal propósito de este libro, en un acercamiento pragmático, inmerso en la cotidianidad, jocosa o trágica. Se siguen vidas a «salto de mata», rescatando sus sueños y tropelías, restituyendo sus vivencias y, con ellas, las de una época, así como parte de la maquinaria imperial, cuando el sol se ponía sobre la Monarquía. Todo se ensarta, en definitiva, alrededor de dos preguntas. ¿Cómo se pasó de la espada a la pluma, otro ejercicio de esgrima? ¿Cómo las dos dibujan universos, de Italia a Filipinas, pasando por España, hacia 1600-1650?

    Description: Esta obra aborda los procesos de cambio institucional en España e Hispanoamérica durante los años que fueron desde la guerra de los Siete Años hasta la formación de los estados nacionales. Para mantener el hilo de esta historia global, dichos procesos se analizan a través del prisma de la historia de las finanzas, examinando los problemas fiscales en su interdependencia con transformaciones económicas, sociales y culturales más amplias. Resultado de dos proyectos del programa ECOS que reunieron a especialistas argentinos, franceses y mexicanos, así como a colegas de Alemania, España e Italia invitados a distintos encuentros, el libro ha intentado situarse en diferentes escalas de observación: la de la Monarquía, que negocia y reforma los mecanismos de acceso y de circulación de recursos, transformando así sus propios equilibrios políticos; o, en el otro extremo, la de las arenas locales, donde la cooperación y el conflicto de sus actores producían reconfiguraciones institucionales y territoriales; o aun el ámbito de los dispositivos que atravesaban las diferentes escalas —los derechos de propiedad, los cuerpos y las articulaciones comunitarias, o las dimensiones fiscales de la ciudadanía— cuyas evoluciones acompasaban el tránsito del Antiguo Régimen al orden republicano.

    Description: La historia de la democracia en el espacio ibérico es inseparable de los pioneros esfuerzos del movimiento republicano por ensanchar la esfera pública y construir una sociedad de ciudadanos iguales en derechos y oportunidades. El estudio de las culturas republicanas en la historia contemporánea de Portugal y España se ha consolidado como una importante corriente de investigación en las últimas décadas. Evaluar la distancia recorrida era una tarea inaplazable que este volumen ha pretendido alcanzar. Sin embargo, esta aproximación historiográfica quedaría incompleta sin una exploración de las líneas de investigación que el republicanismo ofrece en la actualidad. Con este fin, se presentan un conjunto de trabajos que abren novedosas vías de análisis desde el marco local.
