    Description: Has the quality of life of indigenous peoples in Latin America improved after three decades in which legislation has been built that recognizes them? Statistical information and the increase in social conflict in indigenous territories leads to a negative answer to this question. This essay is a critical reflection on the exhaustion of the multicultural moment in Latin America from the dialogue with the critical thinking that has emerged from the movements themselves, especially from activists and intellectuals who denounce the relationship between recognition policies and extractivist capitalism, resisting the colonialist images that these policies reproduce because they deny the historicity and political potential of their peoples.
    Description: ¿Ha mejorado la calidad de vida de los pueblos indígenas en América Latina luego de tres décadas en las que se ha construido una legislación que los reconoce? La información estadística y el aumento de la conflictividad social en los territorios indígenas conduce a responder negativamente esa interrogante. Este ensayo es una reflexión crítica sobre el agotamiento del momento multicultural en América Latina a partir del diálogo con el pensamiento crítico que ha surgido de los propios movimientos, especialmente de activistas e intelectuales que denuncian la relación que existe entre políticas de reconocimiento y capitalismo extractivista, resistiéndose a las imágenes colonialistas que esas políticas reproducen por cuanto niegan la historicidad y el potencial político de sus pueblos.

Oliver Wäckerlig's network analysis traces a transatlantic Islamophobic movement with its transitions to the middle of society and shows an organizational continuity from anti-communism to Islamophobia.     Description: In contemporary societies we see a state of social inequality as in the old regime: the accumulation of wealth in 1% of the population, multimillionaires as presidents, the increase in luxury consumption, the emergence of a culture of distinction, as well as the concentration of the earth and the spatial segregation. To understand these phenomena in a coherent interpretative framework, this essay proposes the hypothesis that in the early 21st century we are experiencing a new combination of refeudalization at the global level, but with specific regional features. In Latin America, this concept is particularly useful for understanding the return of the right to power after a period of leftist governments.
    Description: En las sociedades contemporáneas constatamos un estado de desigualdad social como en el viejo régimen: la acumulación de la riqueza en el 1% de la población, multimillonarios como presidentes, el aumento en el consumo de lujo, el surgimiento de una cultura de distinción, así como la concentración de la tierra y la segregación espacial. Para comprender estos fenómenos en un marco interpretativo coherente, este ensayo plantea la hipótesis de que en el temprano siglo XXI vivimos una nueva combinación de refeudalización a nivel global, pero con rasgos regionales específicos. En América Latina este concepto es particularmente útil para entender el regreso de la derecha al poder después de una época de gobiernos de izquierda.

    Description: Prototypes migrate from the workshops to society. They are no longer considered deficient because of incomplete objects. Rather, it is through the design of the material provisional that the social day after tomorrow is shaped and technologised. The production and reception of these artefacts is transformed from an exclusive expert activity to a public social practice: Prototypes are produced in publicly accessible Makerspaces and celebrated in urban event formats. Sascha Dickel shows that this can also be accompanied by a new form of criticism that does not oppose the technologization of the social, but opens up ways to design alternative futures in a technologically integrated world.

Vielmehr wird gerade durch das Design des materiell Vorläufigen das gesellschaftliche Übermorgen gestaltet und technologisiert. This comparative ethnography of two African cities, Maputo and Johannesburg, presents a new narrative about social life in cities often described as sharply divided. Based on the ethnography of entangled lives unfolding in a township and in a suburb in Johannesburg, in a bairro and in an elite neighborhood in Maputo, the book includes case studies of relations between domestic workers and their employers, failed attempts by urban elites to close off their neighborhoods, and entanglements emerging in religious spaces and in shopping malls. Systematizing comparison as an experience-based method, the book makes an important contribution to urban anthropology, comparative urbanism and urban studies.

    Description: The rise of the term "environment" to describe the present marks the influence that reflection on environmental relations and the possibility of engineering artificial environments have gained since the mid-nineteenth century. In closed artificial worlds such as space stations or artificial ecosystems, the entanglement of the "environment" with the surrounding organisms becomes the subject of a biopolitics that today opens up new spaces in autonomous environmental control technologies. Florian Sprenger pursues this transformation of ecological environmental knowledge with the aim of better understanding current technologies, making the term understandable and highlighting the biopolitical dimension of each ecology.
    Description: Der Aufstieg des Begriffs »Environment« zur Beschreibung der Gegenwart markiert den Einfluss, den das Nachdenken über Umgebungsrelationen und die Möglichkeit der technischen Gestaltung künstlicher Umgebungen seit Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts gewonnen haben. In geschlossenen artifiziellen Welten wie Raumstationen oder künstlichen Ökosystemen wird die Verschränkung des »Environments« mit den umgebenen Organismen zum Gegenstand einer Biopolitik, die heute in autonomen Technologien der Umgebungskontrolle neue Räume erschließt. Florian Sprenger verfolgt diese Transformation ökologischen Umgebungswissens mit dem Ziel, gegenwärtige Technologien besser zu verstehen, den Begriff unselbstverständlich zu machen und die biopolitische Dimension jeder Ökologie herauszuarbeiten.

    Description: Widerstand gegen Unterdrückung und Ausbeutung wird durch physische Abscheu, theoretischen Widerspruch und in einem großen Maß durch Mythen über eine machbare Befreiung animiert. Aus diesem Grund inspiriert die Erzählung des Exodus der Israeliten aus Ägypten auch heute noch dazu, für soziale Gerechtigkeit zu kämpfen. Laurin Mackowitz' Vergleich von Sigmund Freuds, Thomas Manns, Michael Walzers und Paolo Virnos Auseinandersetzungen mit dem Exodus zeigt allerdings, dass dieser Mythos nicht nur zur narrativen Verankerung von Gerechtigkeit und Freiheit, sondern ebenso zur Konstruktion nationaler Identitäten und Legitimierung despotischer Politiken benutzt werden kann.
