Description: The volume, dedicated to the 44th International Conference of the Italian Union for Drawing, investigates the theme of ‘Transitions’, which particularly effectively represents our time and the current condition of the discipline of Drawing. The term, beyond its generic meaning of an intermediate stage in a process in which a condition changes from one state to another, has always been used in various fields, from music to geophysics. In fact, the disciplines of drawing have always been confronted with themes and issues relating to transitions from one condition to another. The history of representation tells us of transformations, even epochal ones, relating to ‘drawing’, with all that such transitions entail: suffice it to think of the evolution of forms of representation, of instrumental apparatuses, of the mutability of supports, of the analogical-digital transition underway, of the new modes of communication on platforms, of the hypertrophic offer of images also on the net that confirms Guy Debord’s intuitions relating to the new spectacularisation of society. Similarly, representation triggers transitions in the prefiguration and communication of design, the anticipation and foreshadowing of future events. The challenges posed by the digital pose open questions whose scope can only be glimpsed, such as the relationship between drawing and the act of modelling, and the construction of new paradigms of visual language and communication. ‘Transitions’, almost implicitly, points to possible futures, the evolution of technique and the search for new modes of expression; at the same time, however, it can suggest silences and reflections in a process of connection between history, theory, criticism and construction.

Description: This book analyzes, conceptualizes and historicizes the amateur translator figure as political and cultural agent in US-Latin American relations, from the end of the 19th century to the mid-20th century. Centered on the work of two US-American translators, Alice Stone Blackwell and Isaac Goldberg, it is the first study to offer a modern history of the amateur translator as subject of resistance and cultural mediator between the two regions.

Description: The reading experience and the self-referential stories of children between five and six years of age presented in this booklet are the result of the work elaborated by the transition students of the Franciscan School of Pius XII, within the framework of the activities of the psychology professional practice project, whose purpose was to approach narratives and stories as an excuse to navigate through the subjective productions elaborated from the reading experience. The elaboration of the stories allowed the construction of a space to relate personal events considered significant for the children. Therefore, each story that the reader will encounter speaks of a small world that found a way to be transmitted to others through narrative. Beyond building a story, the idea was to allow a moment to think about those experiences that give meaning to existence, as they are loaded with imagination, emotions and sensations, which is an opportunity to develop the process of conceiving themselves as subjects with a story.

Description: This publication originates from the research project "The action of joy, happiness, contentment and rejoicing as contemporary imperatives: a factory of artificial smiles", which proposed to think about the phenomenon of the quasi-obligatory nature of being happy in order to adapt to life in contemporary society. One of its products was a lecture in the Psychology program of the same name of this publication, in the form of a conversation that brought together different specialists to discuss the topic. These same specialists were invited to elaborate the pages of this book, and others were invited to broaden the discussion. A work conceived and written by several hands.

Description: Can we build peace? relaunches the question of peacebuilding as a commitment to research and reflection beyond established theoretical frameworks. Each chapter of this book reflects the search and the questions that mobilize different scholars from their own intellectual trajectories and life experiences. It is a book that harbors the richness of its content in the diversity of methodical approaches to the question of peace. Thus, it understands that to build, to recognize, to dissent, to transform, are verbs of solidarity with which the transition from a country in conflict to a possible peace is conveyed. From the academic point of view, one of the great challenges is to consolidate the convergence of interests, knowledge and actions that allow a clear understanding of the complexity of the problems of the transition to peace. One of the premises that inspires the authors is to propose a decentered reading of established theories, without ignoring their value and without rejecting the necessary specificity required to elucidate and address specific issues such as psychological effects, legal discussions or media logics. Thus, the reader will find dissertations on cardinal issues of social, political and cultural life on which it is necessary to reflect in the processes of overcoming armed conflicts. This proposal seeks to delocalize, from a theoretical and methodological point of view, the research reflection and promote an interdisciplinary dialogue among authors from different regions and countries, in order to summon readers interested in understanding, from different points of view, the tensions, problems and ambiguities that Colombia faces in terms of peace.
    Description: Published

Description: The Faculty of Psychology of the University of San Buenaventura Cali, has undertaken for several years the task of accompanying our students of Writing Workshop I in the exercise of the materialization of a chronicle to capture life through letters and for those who read it, to understand from another point of view a reality that traps, tears and hurts, but that transforms our thinking and our being. This with the dreamy pretension that our students launch themselves into the void and discover the richness of writing as an escape from pleasure, but also as an act to represent the voices that accompany the multiple faces of human life, an exercise similar to painting or putting music to a voice.

Description: This book is an important milestone because it brings together the central aspects of the intellectual production of the last two decades in the fertile field of research that has characterized what we might call the Cali-Barcelona School of developmental psychology. I believe that this systematic effort to understand development from the best available scientific models meets the necessary requirements to justify this classification as a "school". The rigorous exploration of new formal models is firmly rooted in the "Piagetian traditions" from which the school draws, with a coherence and understanding to the last consequences that escapes the hordes of empiricists around the world who continue to resort to "Piagetian situations".

Description: This collective work makes significant and unprecedented contributions to intercultural studies, in general, and intercultural education, in particular. It is a set of studies that offer a very well differentiated Latin American panorama and with comparative contributions that generate lines of future research. For this reason, I believe that it may soon become an important international reference work (GUNTHER DIETZ). It is a very current and relevant work for the Latin American context. It is a commitment to work with, in and from the communities, which is related to one of the objectives sought, which is to understand interculturality from the grassroots. It is an enjoyable read and I consider that it can be a contribution both to continue with the research presented and to generate much more participatory and collaborative methodologies in the field, breaking with the classic Eurocentric object-subject visions. On the other hand, the degree of commitment that can be seen in several chapters can serve as motivation for social scientists who are beginning in the field (ELEDER PIÑEIRO).

Description: Violence - as distinct from power - always seeks instruments for its existence. for its existence. Hobbes' old phrase is interesting to guide our to guide our reflections in the contemporary world: "Covenants without coercive coercive measures, they are nothing but words". After the Second World War World War II was not followed by a period of peace, but by the Cold War and the establishment of a military-military complex. and the establishment of a military-industrial complex (Arendt, 1970). Karl Marx (2010) in the 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte stated that historical events happen twice in the course of history. historical events take place twice in history: once as a tragedy and the tragedy and the second as farce. It is precisely on this second phase or repetition of historical events that this book is about. The The idea of trying to make an approach to reality studies of the 21st century with respect to the aesthetics of violence, understanding this aesthetics as the presentation of this particular as the presentation of this particular violence of contemporaneity, with its facilitating instruments, its with its facilitating instruments, with its discourses and its practices that make possible the naturalization of a policy that castrates rights. Does this aesthetics of violence in our contemporaneity behave in a similar way to the aesthetics of historical processes? similar to the aesthetics of previous historical processes? Bastide (2006) when analyzing aesthetics, argues that society shapes the reaction to it, and from the reaction to it, and in the same way here society shapes the practices of violence, especially practices of violence, especially when we analyze violence and its relation to gender issues. and its relationship to gender issues.

Description: This book is the partial result of a research project called "Female electoral candidacies transformed into marketing products and fake news against female candidates: a comparative analysis between Brazil, Colombia and Mexico". The growing female participation in decision making in Latin America invites us to read with more patience and caution the phenomenon of the emergence of a type of feminization of politics. Two countries with trajectories marked by political scandals and corruption, such as Brazil and Mexico, show that if it was difficult for women to become protagonists as political subjects - note the feminist movements of the 70s, 80s and 90s and the recent achievements in terms of public policies for the protection of women - it is not very difficult to understand the difficulty that these women faced and still face to become protagonists in the political scenario of their countries, i.e. political actors. Therefore, this book reveals only some aspects of the political path that these women must face on a daily basis in order to gain access to spaces of power.

Description: We must always bear in mind that certain forms of life are based on specific affects. That is to say, they need these affects to continue to repeat themselves, to impose their modes of ordering, thus defining the field of the possible. There is a social adhesion that is constructed through affects. In this sense, when societies are transformed, they open up to the production of singular forms of life and, in this sense, affects begin to circulate in a different way, to be agenticulated in such a way that other objects and effects are produced.

Description: The World Health Organization -WHO- (2016, p.1) notes that, "Annually, more than 800,000 people take their own lives and many more attempt suicide. Each suicide is a tragedy that affects families, communities, and countries and has lasting effects for those close to the suicidal person." Suicidal behavior ranges from ideation in its different expressions, through threats, gestures and attempts, to the suicide itself. The presence of any of these indicators (ideation, threats, gestures and attempts) should be considered as a sign of high risk in the individual presenting them. The relationship between suicide and mental disorders is quite close, however, it does not mean that those who do not suffer from a mental disorder are exempt from this suicidal behavior, since there have been cases that occur impulsively as a response to a crisis that affects the ability to cope with the difficulties of life, such as economic problems, the breakup of sentimental or family relationships, or chronic pain and illness.

Description: The first components of developmental psychology can perhaps be traced back to the social recognition of infancy and childhood. Many historians agree that this recognition came late. The French historian Philippe Ariès argues that in medieval society there was no room for childhood or the child as theoretical constructs. They would emerge in the course of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Thus, although a certain sensitivity towards childhood appeared between the 16th and 17th centuries, it would seem that it was only in the 18th century that the child became the object of concern for some thinkers, mostly philosophers and pedagogues. There are several authors who are referents and it is worthwhile to review them, even if only briefly. At the time, Rousseau (1712-1778), in his Emilium, proposes an education centered on the natural evolution of the child, in which he highlights his particularities and differences and places childhood as a necessary and fundamental stage for man. The pedagogue Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (1746-1827), sympathizes with some of Rousseau's ideas on the education of children and keeps a diary of his son's first two years, which becomes one of the first systematic observations that is assumed to be a precursor of observational methodology in early development. In line with the above, this text can only be understood as a first attempt, unfinished and open, to be continued. It is what the Anglos call a "text in progress", and that the ebook edition will allow us to reopen it without major difficulties. It is also, of course, an incitement to readers to complement it, discuss it or even controvert it. This is intended to be a living text and discussed within the community. It is possible that certain hypotheses about the facts found will give rise to controversy. A colleague warned that lightning will surely strike it as it is a provocative text. Let's hope so: as long as they are illuminating, it will have partially fulfilled its purpose. In any case, there remains a taste for scrutinizing our past more closely with a view to the future and not only to what could not be.

Description: This book has a series of characteristics that are worth highlighting. It begins its construction with a team of researchers from the Cognition and Representational Development Group of the Research Center of the Universidad del Valle, which articulates several groups such as the Research Group on Evaluation and Quality of Education (Giece); the Education Group, the Cognitive Development, Learning and Teaching Group, and the Cognition and Education Group. Likewise, the three doctoral programs in psychology in the region participate in its elaboration: Universidad del Valle, Universidad de San Buenaventura Cali and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana de Cali. In the first one, the authors were trained and learned that nonlinear dynamical systems can be a conceptual and methodological way to approach the study of cognitive development. The different works that make up the chapters of the book are ascribed to nonlinear dynamical systems, which offer an innovative conceptualization for thinking about developmental psychology in general and cognitive development in particular. This pioneering and committed task of the group materializes in significant advances in the use of methodologies more in line with the conceptual principles assumed.

Description: The purpose of this book is to incite a series of reflections on the subjective tensions and discourses of Law in a postmodern society where the act of existing advocates a liquidity between pragmatism supported by the values of consumption as an existential fetish that imprisons existence itself, and anyone who is outside this chain of consumption loses the very character of humanity - legitimized through the logic of consumption. In this moment of narcissism the subject is created - trapped in his own image constructed in front of others with the need to be appreciated and the object of consumption-fetish of his equals. Whoever cannot consume, whoever is outside the chain of consumption loses his status of "citizen"... citizenship contemplates those who are immersed in the game of consumption. This "fetish of capital" (Bautista, 2017) that produces an idolatry towards utopian values and sacrifices social coexistence itself in the name of an economic model, does not admit any other form of development and propitiates moral discourses where those who are absent from the policies of these discourses are marginalized. Is Law as a regulatory discipline - in Foucauldian terms - a participant in this fetishist logic, once this discipline regulates (Foucault, 2012) social relations?

Description: From the perspective of Latin American Studies, this volume offers a critical contribution to the current debate on world literature. It is structured around three conceptual blocks: gatekeepers, as the dispositives and actors mediating the international circulation of literature translation, as an unavoidable but always problematic mechanism and local literatures, as modes of writing that remain intrinsically tied to their contexts.

Description: When reading "Un Atlántico: some stories of resilience", it is impossible not to feel the heart ache at the thought of the pain still felt by its protagonists; but, at the same time, the feeling of admiration is immense. They are people who, despite the circumstances, have an unthinkable capacity to overcome adversity and rise from the ashes. For this reason, he began by highlighting the title of the book. There is nothing better than using the word resilience to pay tribute to the victims of the horror of war, of discrimination, of society itself, of our country; with whom, without knowing it, we cross paths all the time. We are a country whose people have an unparalleled capacity to overcome negative events that would sink anyone. And, although it sounds like a cliché phrase, the country of Macondo is also the country of resilience. It is enough to read the stories narrated in this book.

Description: The research on labor insertion of young professionals in psychology is made public at a crucial moment for the discipline and the practice of the profession in the country, where the academic community and the professional guild face the very task of inserting psychology as a solid body of theoretical and technical knowledge, in the body of knowledge, resources and devices available to citizens and institutions. As Colombians and according to what the profession allows us, we are part of the social fabric in the framework of the repair and comprehensive reconstruction of a nation that urgently seeks options and actions that bring with them the improvement of the quality of life, greater inclusion and social equity. In short, truly democratized development and progress, so that it corresponds to the individual and collective resources and the optimal use we can make of them, within the framework of opportunities.

Description: Violence - as distinct from power - always seeks instruments for its existence. Hobbes' old phrase is interesting to guide our reflections on contemporaneity: "Covenants without coercive measures are nothing but words". The Second World War was not followed by a period of peace, but by the Cold War and the establishment of a military-industrial complex (Arendt, 1970). Karl Marx (2010) in the 18th Brumaire of Louis Bonaparte stated that historical events occur twice in history: once as tragedy and the second time as farce.

This initiative brought together professors and practitioners who have been working on the issues of conflict and peace from different perspectives. This book counted with the participation of academics and experienced professionals from different areas of knowledge such as law, political science, history and psychology for the approach from different perspectives of this transcendental topic for the country. One of the main challenges analyzed in this work is the need to rewrite the history of the conflict and include voices that have traditionally been absent. It proposes a change in the narratives of the Colombian armed conflict towards other revisionist and critical ones.

Description: Conservation is a state of harmony between Man and the Earth" is a phrase associated with Aldo Leopold (1887-1948) American environmentalist and with which I wish to approach this important work entitled "THE ROLE OF RENEWABLE ENERGIES IN THE COLOMBIAN ENERGY MATRIX" that I am honored to prologue and with whose publication the Master, Eng. René Ramírez Fernández, of notable academic experience, in his role as Coordinator and one of the authors of the book, achieves in the compilation that the researchers show their awareness for the care of the environment and their visible concern for the abuse of non-renewable energies advocating, with scientific argument, for an energy balance for Colombia, promoting an energy transition, for the use of renewable energies and the use of biodigesters for the reduction of the carbon footprint. It should be noted that each of the contributions that you will find in the book are the result of research that has had as a starting point the collection of information, the analysis of real statistical data and the use of a methodology that ensures that the conclusions that are socialized in each of the four chapters of the book are important contributions that have a scientific support.

Description: This book is based on the recognition that public policies are indebted to their purpose: to solve social problems. They are indebted to the democratic promise of having the active participation of the populations that benefit from or are affected by the problem. They are indebted for their pretension of scientificality in terms of being the science that would complement the theories of political science to understand the exercise of politics, beyond governmental actions. They are indebted to materialize human rights. They are indebted to qualify public policy actors in the decision-making process.

Description: In the immense tapestry that is history and humanity, dark specters and uncertain contours emerge that delineate a harrowing reality in our contemporary context: human trafficking. Scientific and socio-legal approaches to this intricate phenomenon, while essential to the range of universal values, are often insufficient to fully unveil its roots and manifestations. This book, then, emerges as an attempt to undertake both a philosophical and legal study to critically review trafficking, an evil whose deplore echoes from an immemorial past.

Description: Modern organizations need to respond and adapt to the changing conditions of the context if they want to remain in the market. Among the tools to achieve this, marketing is the foundation to achieve the positioning of a business, a fact that is sometimes underestimated, especially in the world of new business ventures, because they have few resources and want to market directly without any effort. This motivated to write this book called "Strategic Models in Marketing and Entrepreneurship for the Orange Economy: an approach to Colombian cases", as a product of research in the field, where studies are made to identify the potential of the tools available to those in charge of the companies.

Description: The existence of World Literature depends on specific processes, institutions, and actors involved in the global circulation of literary works. Looking at Latin American 20th and 21st century literatures, this book analyzes the role of publishing houses, politics of translation, mediators and gatekeepers, to provide insights into the processes that enable books to cross borders and to be transformed into globally circulating commodities.

Description: This book gathers works derived from research carried out by some of the members of the Red de Investigaciones en Subjetividad y Lazo Social (Subjectivity and Social Bond Research Network). It consists of six academic writings, five of Colombian origin and one of Mexican origin, which converge in their interest to give rise to conversation and encourage reflection on the categories of subjectivity and social bond, and how they can be thought from the psychoanalytic discipline. In fact, the book itself is one of the ways forged to articulate the work of the network, to sustain the meetings, to advance in the discussions and to maintain the thread of the discussion, weaving increasingly fruitful links among us, which we hope can also be externalized so that the questions about the complexity of subjectivity and the social bond continue to circulate not only among the members of the network, but also in the different places where it can be received.
