    Description: "The student is becoming a teacher is presenting the first Norwegian study made on the sense of belonging in higher education. Central themes are comprehension and knowledge development, and the students’ process of formation is essential, without it being explicit in all the articles. The authors are concerned with interplay between techne and fronesis related to individual growth and professional development. The informants of these studies are teacher students from year 1-4, resulting in a wide range of new knowledge and theoretical viewpoints. In this anthology, the question of the dualism between theory and practice is raised. Could it be that knowledge is a circular production from practise to theory and back? It is also evident that the sensation of social belonging is closely connected to a sense of academic belonging, and that the cohesion of teacher students and their teachers is of great impact. The target group of this peer-reviewed anthology is teacher students and teacher student educators. However, these articles will also be relevant for other educational groups and students. "
    Description: "Studenten skal bli lærer presenterer den første norske studien av tilhørighet i høyere utdanning. Forståelse og utvikling av kunnskap er sentrale temaer, og studenters danning belyses, uten at danning blir eksplisitt diskutert i alle bidragene. Mange av forfatterne er opptatt av samspillet mellom episteme, techne og fronesis i forhold til den enkeltes vekst og profesjonelle kompetanseutvikling. Med lærerstudenter fra 1.–4. årskull som informanter favner artiklene bredt og gir ny kunnskap og nye teoretiske vinklinger. I antologien stilles det blant annet spørsmål ved dualismen som ofte påpekes mellom teoretisk og erfaringsbasert kunnskap. Kanskje er det heller sånn at kunnskap produseres sirkulært mellom forelesningssal og praksisfeltet? Videre fremgår det også at opplevelsen av sosial tilhørighet ser ut til å være en forutsetning for akademisk tilhørighet, og at medstudenter sammen med faglærere har stor betydning. Denne fagfellevurderte antologien retter seg hovedsakelig mot lærerutdanningen og lærerutdannere. Men bidragene kan også være aktuelle for andre utdanninger, og for studenter."

    Description: "An absence limit for upper secondary school in Norway was introduced in 2016. The objective was to get more students to attend school more regularly. There were considerable protests at the time – especially from the students – and now five years on, the question is: Has the absence limit helped? Has attendance increased? And if so, at what cost? The Absence Limit in Upper Secondary School. Viewpoints, Outcomes and Experiences presents the results of a comprehensive evaluation of the new ordinance from three perspectives: the students’, the schools’, and their support networks’. The book starts with the main characters – the students – and then looks at the schools, and finally at the various support persons in students’ lives. Three questions structure the book: To what extent has absenteeism among different groups of students been reduced as a result of the absence limit? From a practical standpoint, how is the absence limit enforced by school administrators and teachers? And how do doctors and other support persons follow up students with high absenteeism?     Description: "Post-war expansion of the welfare state is one of the most central changes in Norwegian society today and is often a topic in public debate. When certain conceptions about the welfare state are developed and they are no longer based on systematic analyses but rather ideas and attitudes, they can turn into myths. However, to be termed myths requires documentation, and here social research plays an important role. This book rejects and elaborates central myths in the public debate about the welfare state. The book is structured as an anthology, written by six welfare sociologists at the University of Bergen. The first article introduces the history of The Myth of the Welfare State, a book published by Pax in 1970, then revised a few years later, and with a follow-up version in 1995, 25 years after that. The book became a flaming light within the social policy debate, because it criticized the welfare state for not solving the problem of poverty. Although this problem, relatively seen, is reduced, the following five articles show that, within the framework of the welfare state, there is room for new important critical discussions. One myth focuses on the idea that a combination of a comprehensive state and an active civil society with much voluntary work is not possible. Another concerns the idea that welfare results in dependency. A third is about the “Elder Boom”. A fourth concerns single mothers and assumes that these unlawfully try to get access to welfare. And finally, the last discusses the ideas that crime should result in punishment and “prison pain”. Together, the articles are a contribution to make the debate about the welfare state richer and more dynamic."
    Description: "Utbyggingen av velferdsstaten i etterkrigstiden hører til en av de mest sentrale endringer i det norske samfunn, og er ofte et tema i den offentlige debatt. Når bestemte forestillinger om velferdsstaten utvikles og de ikke lenger bygger på systematiske analyser, men på ideer og holdninger, kan de bli til myter. At det er snakk om myter, må imidlertid dokumenteres, og her spiller samfunnsforskningen en viktig rolle. Denne boken tilbakeviser og nyanserer sentrale myter i den offentlige debatt om velferdsstaten. Boken er bygget opp som en antologi, skrevet av seks velferdssosiologer fra Universitetet i Bergen. Den første artikkelen gir en innføring i historien om Myten om velferdsstaten, en bok utgitt av Pax i 1970, siden revidert noen år etter og med en oppfølger i 1995, 25 år etter. Boken ble en brannfakkel i den sosialpolitiske debatt, fordi den kritiserte velferdsstaten for ikke å håndtere fattigdomsproblemet.     Description: This anthology presents research projects that examine the intersection between music, technology and education from a variety of perspectives. The contributors are from a range of educational programs within traditional pre-, primary and lower secondary school education, as well as music performance and technology educational programs. Data for the studies stems from primary and lower secondary school, as well as informal learning environments, in addition to the contributors’ respective education programs. The research projects examine a wide range of topics such as gamification of ukulele and song teaching, composition with iPads in the classroom, live looping as an approach to ensemble conducting, authentic music technology learning spaces, music-making in the “laptop-era”, sound, the notion of net-based presence, and challenges in higher electronic music education. As this anthology is the first publication in the MusPed:Research series, it also contains an introductory chapter about the series and the research network Musikkpedagogikk i utdanning (MiU). This anthology makes a distinct contribution to the research field of music technology in education and questions educational practices in the school and higher educational levels, the goals and content of music education, and our understanding of music and music creation in itself.
    Description: I denne antologien presenteres forskingsprosjekter som hvert på sin måte undersøker møtet mellom musikk, teknologi og utdanning. Forfatterne i antologien kommer fra ulike utdanningsprogrammer, der både tradisjonelle barnehagelærer- og grunnskolelærerutdanninger så vel som faglærer-, utøvende musikk- og musikkteknologiutdanninger er representert. Prosjektene henter datamateriale fra de respektive utdanningene, men også fra musikkfaget i grunnskolen samt fra mer uformelle læringsarenaer. Forskningsarbeidene i antologien undersøker blant annet spillifisering av ukulele- og sangundervisning, komposisjon med iPad i klasserommet, live looping i ensembleledelse, autentiske musikkteknologiske læringsrom, musikkskaping i «laptop-æraen», sound, opplevelsen av nettbasert nærvær og utfordringer i høyere musikkteknologisk utdanning. Som første utgivelse i skriftserien MusPed:Research inneholder antologien også et eget introduksjonskapittel som omhandler skriftserien og forskningsnettverket Musikkpedagogikk i utdanning (MiU). Antologien stiller spørsmål ved etablert didaktisk praksis i musikkfaget i grunnskole og høyere utdanning, ved musikkutdanningens mål og innhold samt ved selve forståelsen av musikk og musikkskaping som sådan, og er et bidrag til voksende skandinaviske og internasjonale forskningsfelt om musikkteknologi i utdanningskontekster.
