Description: The Urban Diversity Final Publication is a representation of Urban Diversity project that lasted between 2017 and 2020. The project's aim was a creative connection of migrant entrepreneurs and their families in Ljubljana and Graz, and to help encourage and promote diversity in both cities. There are already some support and aid programs for self-employment and business establishment for migrants, however both cities also trace obstacles that abate migrant entrepreneurs from being creative and integrate into the society. These obstacles can be found on different levels, and are not easy to define or remove, while they also represent a large issue for migrant entrepreneurs and the host society, which stuns their potential and its own economic and social progress. The results and achievements in the publication present the good practice of removing social obstacles that already exist elsewhere in Europe.

Description: In ABCs or primers, whichever you prefer, things are more or less clear. As clear as slogans which cannot escape their duty, but must present their content as broadly and deeply as possible in a neutral, unproblematic, non-ironic manner. Well, in that case this ABC of Migrations is an unusual, strange, problematic primer, as it more than politely offers and sardonically appraises, more than informs and problematizes, more than explains and obfuscates. Similarly to the way the handymen Pat and Mat approach their problems in the animated cartoon A je to: the two master builders introduce disorder into the orderly world and the order of things, creating a ramshackle reality. More than fixing and building things, they crumble and destroy them. But in doing so they like it or not also ask us: why couldn’t the world and the things in it be different?

V urejen svet, red stvari mojstra vnašata nered, gradita majavi svet.

Description: The smartphone has become one of the main tenets of contemporary spatial as well as digital migration routes that are increasingly determined by technologies, platforms and networks. Such routes have become increasingly dangerous and uncertain, which testifies of structural criminalisation and control of people on the move, but also raises important questions about autonomy and agency of individuals as a response to restrictive migration and border policies. The monograph explores such transformations by focussing on the movement of refugees across the borders of nation-states through a rethinking of the notion of vulnerability (especially of women and children), the examination of perceptions of refugees and migrants by the public and a reflection of the notions of climate change and climate refugees that all challenge the main classificatory mechanisms constructing more or less “legitimate” groups of migrants. In this vein, the authors argue for more solidarity throughout the movement of individuals through the “gates” and “violent borders” of contemporary nation-states.

Description: Presented are the perceptions of different foreigners who came to Slovene lands in the past or in the present time, as shown in Slovene folk narratives. Despite often stereotyped picture of the Others, the research demonstrates an immense complexity of these narratives and the fact that they tell more about Us than about Them. The book ('The Mysteriou Stranger and the Demonic Enemy. “The Other” and Otherness in Slovene Folk Narratives') brings a theoretical overview of the current research on otherness in folklore studies and contextualizes the examples into a wider international folkloristic, anthropological and historical frames. Stories about the Turks, the Napoleon’s French and the Huns reflect an interweaving of historical facts, archetypical imageries of the dangerous Foreigner and ideological influences. These narratives are strongly embedded into the landscape and reinforce the sense of a common identity of its members. The imagery of historic aggressors is understandably quite different from the imagery of Jews and the Roma, with whom the people of the Slovene lands have had a completely different kind of contact. The same goes for contemporary foreigners from other countries. Nevertheless, they all display a high level of stereotypization, generalization and projection of fears upon “the Other”.
Zgodbe o Turkih, Napoleonovih Francozih in Hunih odražajo preplet zgodovinskih dejstev, arhetipskih predstav o nevarnih tujcih in ideoloških vplivov.

Description: "Why do some places grow while others are shrinking? What are the most important driving forces behind increases in the number of inhabitants and jobs? How can places affect their own growth? This book is written for those who want to understand how structural forces affect the development of their locale and how one can create growth through increased attractiveness. Most Norwegian municipalities, cities, regions and counties try to stimulate growth and development in their localities. They want growth in the population and more jobs. This book describes the main features of regional development in Norway since 2000. Telemark Research Institute has proposed a new model, the attractiveness model, to explain the growth and development of places. This book explains how this model works, how it is constructed and how it can be used to understand the forces behind regional development."
Description: "Hvorfor vokser noen steder, mens andre krymper?

Description: Migracije so največkrat razumljene kot nekakšen nepotreben in nadležen stranski produkt človeškega razvoja.

Description: "In recent years, organizations and authorities in Norway have put a critical spotlight on parenting practices among non-Western immigrants, based on a concern for young people's autonomy and self-determination. The purpose of this book – which deals with parenting and social control in immigrant families from Pakistan, Somalia and Sri Lanka – is to shed light on on this collision between different family norms and practices from different perspectives, and thus help to understand why family relations and social control have become a topic of contention in today's multicultural Norway. The books starting point is a sociological perspective on cultural differences, social control and change in a migration context. A key point of focus in the empirical analyzes are parental restrictions in young people's social life. How common are such restrictions within different groups? What significance do factors such as religiosity and socio-economic resources play in the exercise of social control? And what are the consequences for children's social participation, mental health and well-being? One aim is to contribute systematic quantitative knowledge on such issues. At the same time, the book contributes to a more qualitative understanding of people’s experiences and actions. How do parents from countries like Pakistan, Somalia and Sri Lanka experience raising children and young people in Norway? What concerns have they had regarding their children’s encounters with various parts of Norwegian society? And how do young people navigate between different expectations and demands from the families and communities on the one hand and among their peers and the larger society on the other? We focus on the question of social change. Is the organization of family relationships and the exercise of social control within immigrant populations characterized by continuity or change? And what kind of mechanisms drive such changes forward? The book, which is published as part of the Children of Immigrants Longitudinal Study in Norway, will illuminate these questions using quantitative data from a comprehensive survey of 16-17 year olds in Oslo and Akershus, as well as qualitative interviews – individually and in groups – with parents, adolescents and young adults with immigrant backgrounds as well as people in public help services and NGOs. "

Description: In a world marked by surging international conflicts, labour market globalisation, ever-widening economic inequities, steady improvement in the flow of information, and increasing possibilities for mobility over greater distances, the number of migrants on a worldwide basis is hardly likely to decrease in coming years. Immigration regulations are devised within a confluence of national interests, international laws, and attention to migrants’ individual rights. The tension between these disparate considerations begs the question: How can we best safeguard both universal rights issues and European economic integration, as well as the Norwegian state’s obligation, vis-à-vis the distribution of benefits, to its own citizens. We are moving into extremely complex ethical and legal territory, where there are no easy answers. In this book, the author puts Norway’s immigration policy under a moral-philosophical loupe for a thorough analysis of various answers to key questions in the Norwegian immigration debate. This book is aimed at anyone interested in immigration policy issues, but especially persons working professionally in the field, such as political philosophers, politicians, lawyers, case managers and political scientists.
