    Description: The volume, dedicated to the 44th International Conference of the Italian Union for Drawing, investigates the theme of ‘Transitions’, which particularly effectively represents our time and the current condition of the discipline of Drawing. The term, beyond its generic meaning of an intermediate stage in a process in which a condition changes from one state to another, has always been used in various fields, from music to geophysics. In fact, the disciplines of drawing have always been confronted with themes and issues relating to transitions from one condition to another. The history of representation tells us of transformations, even epochal ones, relating to ‘drawing’, with all that such transitions entail: suffice it to think of the evolution of forms of representation, of instrumental apparatuses, of the mutability of supports, of the analogical-digital transition underway, of the new modes of communication on platforms, of the hypertrophic offer of images also on the net that confirms Guy Debord’s intuitions relating to the new spectacularisation of society.     Description: Dedicada quizá si a la figura más señera en la tradición del tango argentino, esta biografía de Carlos Gardel no sólo responde a lo que mínimamente se espera del género: dar cuenta de los hitos y situaciones que articularon lo más significativo del trayecto vital de un personaje -tarea que S. Collier cumple con creces, revelando el enorme talento intelectual que presidió su amplia labor historiográfica- sino también, comporta una suerte de modelo narrativo muy interesante, suscitando una lectura intensa y hasta apasionada del texto. Y el secreto de esto es muy simple: unir al atributo analítico en torno a los hechos, una sobresaliente calidad expositiva que atrapa al lector en una traína que le permite acercarse, por medio de una vida singular, tanto al amplio escenario de una época (primeras décadas del siglo XX), como al desarrollo de una cultura musical de masas: la del tango.

    Description: “Dilemas, apuestas y reflexiones teórico-metodológicas para los abordajes en Historia Reciente” se preocupa por presentar los dilemas teóricos y metodológicos, las potencialidades  y la utilización de las fuentes para la escritura de la Historia Reciente, los condicionantes en las agendas académicas con el propósito de dejar explicitadas las preocupaciones con las que se trabaja en escritura de la historia del pasado reciente y dar cuenta cómo se construyen los objetos de estudio. El libro está organizado en dos partes. La primera dedicada a discutir conceptos, categorías y perspectivas teóricas, y la segunda orientada a reflexionar sobre posibilidades y limitaciones del heterogéneo y complejo universo de materiales utilizados en la escritura de los diferentes capítulos de ese pasado doloroso y que no pasa. No obstante esta división, los recorridos analíticos, teórico-metodológicos e historiográficos atraviesan todos los capítulos del libro, pero lo hacen desde aproximaciones disímiles, que aportan de manera significativa, sea a la reflexión crítica sobre cuestiones estructurantes de la investigación sobre el pasado reciente (la represión, sus dimensiones, modalidades y características; la militancia humanitaria, las relaciones entre violencia y política, los exilios; la temporalidad del pasado-presente; los trabajos de la memoria, la transmisión intergeneracional de pasados traumáticos), sea al conocimiento específico de capítulos concretos de la historia de las dictaduras argentina y chilena.

    Description: Los aspectos estrafalarios de la vida e ideas de Mier impedían a veces que lo tomaran en serio. Aquí viene la primera edición crítica de uno de los testimonios más importantes sobre la crisis de la Independencia mexicana y, más generalmente, hispanoamericana, y de una fuente poco conocida de la "Carta Profética" de Simón Bolívar. De mamotreto publicado en pésimas condiciones, la Historia pasa a ser una obra legible. Cotejando el texto con sus fuentes, este libro estudia los métodos -no siempre ortodoxos- de Mier como historiador. Aporta muchos datos nuevos sobre su papel de militante y propagandista, sobre los medios independentistas de Londres, y las redes de información e influencia que tenían su foco esencial en la capital británica. La obra es una fuente sui generis imprescindible para quien quiera entender un periodo que sigue siendo objeto de muchas controversias. Mier es también un escritor, y a veces un gran polemista. No es un gran creador de ideas, pero su ideario es mucho más coherente de lo que se ha afirmado. En él tradición y modernidad se hermanan de manera a la vez personal y representativa.

    Description: El presente trabajo analiza el rol de la intelectualidad liberal-conservadora argentina ante la última dictadura, el "Proceso de Reorganización Nacional" (1976-1983). El libro estudia las posiciones e intervenciones de un conjunto de catorce actores: Álvaro Alsogaray, Alberto Benegas Lynch, Germán Bidart Campos, Horacio García Belsunce, Jorge Luis García Venturini, Mariano Grondona, Juan Segundo Linares Quintana, Mario Justo López, José Alfredo Martínez de Hoz, Víctor Massuh, Jaime Perriaux, Ambrosio Romero Carranza, Carlos Sánchez Sañudo y Ricardo Zinn. La elección de estos nombres implica considerar un abanico amplio de trayectorias que componen figuras intelectuales de diversidad, unidas sin embargo por muchos más vínculos que la adscripción política.     Description: Sea europeo o amerindio, el hombre es considerado por los eclesiásticos del siglo XVI como un pecador manchado por la falta original e inclinado a la transgresión. Por eso, al emprender la conquista de las almas de los indígenas mexicanos, la Iglesia echa mano de una tradición de origen medieval, los exempla: cortas anécdotas de caracter moralizante. Los predicadores, especialmente los jesuitas, dan un nuevo impulso a este género literario como lo comprueba el análisis de sus sermones redactados en lengua náhuatl. Para deconstruir la lengua, los relatos y el universo mental de los indios, los predicadores utilizan todos los procedimientos que les permiten integrar su grey a la humanidad pecadora. De manera más sorprendente, el exemplum encuentra una noción indígena: el tetzahuitl, que reúne el terror sagrado y la conducta escandalosa, complejo en torno al cual se instaura un diálogo entre predicadores españoles y fieles indios, entre el final del siglo XVI y del XVIII. En este libro convergen varias disciplinas: la historia medieval, pues describe por primera vez la posteridad del exemplum; la historia moderna y la antropología, al descubrir un medio, hasta hoy inédito, para la evangelización de los indios de México; también concierne a la literatura de los comportamientos que comprende los rumores y las leyendas urbanas. Por fin, y sobre todo, se interesa en los procesos de globalización y en las ideologías, para demostrar el uso de la noción de pecado en el encuentro entre los mundos.

    Description: Esta publicación surge como resultado de un itinerario de investigación, de reflexión y de debate colectivo que ya lleva varios años de compartida labor en torno a la problemática del Estado, los procesos políticos y la elaboración de políticas públicas. En el libro se desarrollan análisis teóricos y metodológicos sobre distintas aristas de la política pública: el papel de los saberes expertos, el análisis de las organizaciones estatales, la relación entre el Estado y los movimientos sociales, la participación ciudadana, el enfoque de género, la perspectiva del desarrollo, el gobierno abierto, las relaciones laborales y el trabajo en el sector público, entre otras cuestiones. La premisa básica de la que partimos es que la dinámica política y la dinámica estatal han de ser estudiadas conjuntamente, en sus vinculaciones, asincronías y mutua influencia. Esperamos que la lectura de estas páginas contribuya tanto a una mejor comprensión de las problemáticas actuales de las políticas públicas como a brindar sólida evidencia y productivos marcos analíticos para su abordaje.

    Description: La complejidad que entraña el estudio de la Historia de la Familia hace que esta línea de investigación se postule como un espacio todavía abierto y cambiante, que se encuentra en continua revisión, lo cual demuestra que el análisis e interpretación de los núcleos familiares en la historiografía del sur de Europa no está cerrado. Por ello, el objetivo que marcamos con la presente obra colectiva es aportar datos para la reflexión, a través de los cuales pretendemos proyectar dicha problemática en el espacio geográfico comprendido entre el Atlántico y el Mediterráneo.     Description: El concepto de transición es necesariamente confuso, porque siempre resulta difícil delimitar cuál es el punto de partida de cualquier proceso de cambio político, económico o cultural en la sociedad, así como si es meramente coyuntural o afecta al conjunto de la estructura de un país. En consecuencia, la delimitación del origen y término de cualquier proceso será siempre convencional y relativa. Para el conjunto de las ciencias sociales, los procesos de cambio político han tenido siempre un considerable interés, pues permiten entender mejor las sociedades modernas y actuar en consecuencia en su seno. Este libro, que gira en torno al concepto de transición, es fruto de las ponencias y comunicaciones presentadas en el Congreso Internacional sobre Transiciones que se celebró del 7 al 9 de mayo de 2014 en la Universitat Rovira i Virgili de Tarragona. En él se estudiaron los procesos de transición y transformación en el mundo contemporáneo y la serie de conflictos que suscitan en los más diversos ámbitos desde una perspectiva abiertamente pluridisciplinar.

    Description: El presente libro se concentra en lo que se considera su principal aporte colectivo: adentrarse en los debates acerca de la conciencia histórica como actividad práctica, como conciencia en acto. Concebirla de este modo y, por lo tanto, susceptible de ser indagada empíricamente, es una de las principales conclusiones a que llevó la reflexión colectiva y, al mismo tiempo, un hilo conductor de los distintos trabajos que componen el volumen. El libro en su conjunto investiga la conciencia histórica en acto desde distintos recortes temáticos: la producción historiográfica como espacio de formulación de conciencia histórica en que distintas nociones de estructura, sujeto y proceso interactúan de manera explícita; debates intelectuales y prácticas culturales en los que se ponen en juego formas diversas de articular pasado, presente y futuro; las controversias en torno a la memoria social del pasado reciente de radicalización política y represión dictatorial. En conjunto, se pone en foco la compleja conexión entre historia y filosofía para leer desde allí la lógica de ciertos cambios de perspectiva en el tratamiento del conocimiento histórico que construyen los sujetos. Por otra parte, se privilegia la mirada sobre las formas que adquiere el pasado en la sociedad argentina, analizando ciertos momentos que resultan claves en la construcción de una conciencia de nación; intervenciones cuestionadoras de los sentidos hegemónicos de sujeto, proceso histórico e identidad nacional; debates y controversias, en fin, como espacios y prácticas de reescritura de la historia nacional.

    Description: El sitio arqueológico de San Antonio Nogalar se encuentra aproximadamente a 110 km al noroeste de Tampico, en el municipio de Gonzalez, en Tamaulipas. Fue descubierto por Joaquín Meade en 1950; este historiador consideró que se trataba de la legendaria Tamaholipa, de la cual habla el misionero franciscano fray Andrés de Olmos en el siglo XVI. Meade tuvo el mérito de haber señalado el nombre del sitio que dio origen al estado de Tamaulipas. En los años de 1953-1954, Richard Mc Neish hace una serie de sondeos y recolección en la superficie; según estos estudios, la época de ocupación del sitio fue en la fase Laguna, situada en el preclásico final, es decir, en los últimos siglos antes de Cristo. En 1964 se descubre un cementerio indígena. En 1967 se realiza una visita de la misión francesa y se percatan de la importancia del sitio. Las excavaciones se llevan a cabo entre abril y mayo de 1968. La segunda etapa de excavaciones tuvo lugar en abril de 1969. El grupo que hace las primeras excavaciones estaba formado por Guy Stresser-Péan, Claude Stresser-Péan, Victor Lagarde (fotógrafo) y Cornelis Grootenboer (topógrafo y diseñador). La investigación se extendió a los sitios de Los Laureles y El Ojital, así como a los abrigos del Risco de las Cenizas y al Risco de Los Monos, donde se encontraron pinturas rupestres. El libro da cuenta de una exhaustiva investigación que no se detiene en lo arqueológico, sino que se extiende a lo histórico, botánico, zootécnico, lo mismo que al estudio de las osamentas encontradas en el lugar. El tema sigue siendo de actualidad dada la importancia del sitio arqueológico y el completo repaso histórico de los grupos que habitaron la región.

    Description: Este libro es un ejercicio de historia comparada, teniendo como sujeto y objeto de nuestro relato España y Portugal, desde dos marcos cronológicos diferentes. El período en que se articula una relaidad imperial durante el Antiguo Régimen y la del cambio hacia políticas nacionales imperiales. En este largo recogido histórico jugaron un papel relevante, tanto el tabaco, como le tráfico de esclavos. Entre 1580-1640 podemos referirnos a un solo Atlántico ibérico, en los aspectos defensivos y económicos y de modo especial en el tráfico de esclavos. Los dos monopolios ibéricos del tabaco se construyeron de manera distinta. La distinción institucional entre ambos Imperios se mantuvo durante la Unión Ibérica y la Restaracíon articuló un sistema atlántico del tabaco con muchas diferencias a partir de 1640. De la parte española se intentó crear un estanco imperial hispánico que culminó en la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII, muy ligado a las necesidades militares de defensa de las Indias. El monopolio portugués, cuya creación es paralela a la del estanco español, estuvo siempre restringido al territorio peninsular y a los archipiélagos del Atlántico medio, estando casi toda su historia en manos de arrendadores a diferencia de lo que pasó en España. Este sistema aproxima el estanco portugués al francés, en el que el tabaco entró en el contrato general de los arrendadores en 1730. No hubo pues un estanco Imperial, aunque si podemos referirnos a un sistema atlántico del tabaco lusitano. Desde Bahia se abrió un camino nuevo, al margen del mercado europeo, al integrarse el tabaco como mercancía de ida directa (sin pasar por Lisboa) en el comercio de esclavos (Tabaco por esclavos). Esta obra se acerca las principales claves planteadas en los debates parlamentarios de las Cortes de Cádiz y del Trienio Liberal en torno a la possible incompatibilidad entre libertad, propriedad y estanco del tabaco, e igualmente al debate político sobre la esclavitud. En los comienzos del reinado de Isabel II se llegó al consenso de la continuidad de la esclavitud en ultramar, con la prohibición de la trata, para conformar una política pública que, bajo el mandato progresista, se consolidó como una cuestión de estado, orientada a garantizar la dependencia colonial de Cuba, Puerto Rico y Filipinas

    Description: En el año 1971 surgió la Unión de Ligas Campesinas Formoseñas (ULICAF). Esta investigación revisa las transformaciones políticas, económicas y eclesiales que dieron lugar a su surgimiento. A partir de estudiar de forma articulada los procesos históricos que implicaron la privatización de tierras fiscales y la expulsión de los campesinos que la usufructuaban; el deterioro de las economías regionales con epicentro en la producción algodonera, principal cultivo de la provincia; y la nueva sensibilidad asumida por sectores de la Iglesia Católica a favor de los sectores subalternos. Estos acontecimientos dieron marco a la conformación de espacios de sociabilidad que permitieron la formación de líderes rurales y estructuras organizativas que dieron origen a la entidad representativa del campesinado, rememorada como la experiencia de movilización social más importante en la historia provincial.

    Description: Este libro es el resultado de investigaciones individuales pero colectivamente coordinadas con el propósito de analizar los vínculos entre las distintas formas de ejercicio de la autoridad institucional existentes en el ámbito rural rioplatense, el proceso de equipamiento político de los territorios y la construcción de liderazgos locales en los bordes territoriales de Buenos Aires y Santa Fe. Esta frontera se presenta en este libro como una problemática de doble entrada: por una parte, frontera con el indio; por la otra, frontera entre territorios en construcción que disputan recursos y preminencias de gobierno sobre poblaciones móviles. El estudio se plantea desde el inicio de las primeras reformas borbónicas con la militarización del territorio e incluye los años clave de 1815 y 1820, durante los cuales ambos territorios se definen como provincias autónomas.

    Description: El libro propone deconstruir las representaciones que se gestaron en la relación entre juventud y la dictadura argentina en el período 1976-1983. La autora señala que la juventud es una representación que se construye históricamente y que, en contextos históricos específicos, las sociedades definen y redefinen qué es ser joven. A partir de esta conceptualización, la investigación discurre por dos caminos paralelos. Por un lado, visualiza y analiza las representaciones que se construyen en torno a la juventud en el espacio rosarino durante la dictadura. Representaciones que se anclaron en discursos y prácticas políticas específicas que las dotaron de sentido histórico. Aborda también el estudio respecto de las vivencias juveniles que esas prácticas y discursos acumularon. Es decir, cómo esas políticas se inscribieron en la vida cotidiana juvenil, proceso que no fue ni direccional ni homogéneo. Por otro lado, el texto indaga sobre la emergencia de experiencias autónomas que se constituyeron en alternativas a los modos hegemónicos de concebir a los jóvenes.

    Description: Theodor Mommsen (1817-1903) inicia los Prolegomena de su edición crítica del Código Teodosiano recordándonos que dicha obra -promulgada por el emperador Teodosio II en el año 438- constituye la primera codificación jurídica oficial después de la célebre Ley de las XII Tablas, publicada a mediados del siglo V a.C. Se trata, por tanto, de una de las principales fuentes para el conocimiento del Derecho romano. El presente trabajo pretende exponer los avances de la restauración del texto teodosiano en cada una de las ediciones conocidas, fundamentalmente en las anteriores a Gustav Hänel. Se trata, en definitiva, de que el lector pueda saber lo que se esconde tras una cita del Código Teodosiano en una época concreta. Con este objetivo presento al lector la historia de esta reconstrucción progresiva desde dos ángulos posibles: el primero, el de la tradición manuscrita del Código, considerando sobre todo el aspecto histórico de los códices; y el segundo, el del comentario de las ediciones, desde la primera de 1517 hasta la última e incompleta de Krüger (1926). En consecuencia, podemos hablar de dos partes: una, destinada a ordenar el material manuscrito, que comprende cinco capítulos desarrollados según el sistema de los Prolegomena de Mommsen, monumento de erudición más citado que leído; y otra, que tiene por objeto las ediciones conocidas, en la que, como digo, me detengo más en las ediciones antiguas, menos estudiadas y carentes de prefacios explicativos.

    Description: El Juicio a las Juntas Militares de 1985 fue un evento central en las políticas públicas que, desde la transición a la democracia en la Argentina, se implementaron para procesar las violaciones a los derechos humanos. Inauguró el escenario de los tribunales, desde entonces central en el tratamiento de las violaciones a los derechos humanos en el país, y ha jugado un papel medular en la conformación de representaciones, ideas y memorias sobre los crímenes del Estado dictatorial sucedidos cuatro décadas atrás. Sin embargo, fue mucho más que un evento jurídico. Se comportó también como un acontecimiento multidimensional, complejo, heterogéneo, en el cual múltiples actores actualizaron sus disputas sobre el sentido del pasado y el mundo político compartido. Este libro propone construir una genealogía de los usos y resignificaciones sociales del Juicio a las Juntas Militares, a partir de los discursos producidos tanto dentro como fuera de los tribunales y las memorias que el juicio suscitó desde su antesala hasta los años más recientes.

    Description: Calificado como fórmula rígida del eremitismo, el emparedamiento se desarrolló con gran adaptabilidad, dentro de una gran proliferación de fórmulas religiosas, más entre las mujeres que entre los hombres. Se realizaba en celdas adosadas a iglesias y cementerios, en hospitales y monasterios, en puentes y en murallas, localizadas en el centro urbano o en su derredor; pero siempre provocando un gran impacto sobre la sociedad que les rodeaba. Celdas dependientes de concejos o de iglesias, celdas independientes, pequeños habitáculos (identificados con sepulcros), con dos ventanillas (una hacia la calle, otra hacia la iglesia) y una puerta. Alejada del claustro tradicional, la vida emparedada se iniciaba con una despedida del mundo, una ceremonia litúrgica con el oficio de difuntos y una entrada en la celda, cuya puerta era tapiada: vestidas de penitentes, con bendición o sin ella, la vida en la celda transcurría en unas condiciones físicas muy duras: poca comida, sobre el suelo una tabla por lecho y escasas ropas; una vida de mortificación y disciplinas, de oración y salmos, de privación y lágrimas.

    Description: El presente trabajo es la transcripción paleográfica de un documento de comienzos del siglo XV conservado en el Archivo de la Catedral de Salamanca. Se trata de una pesquisa realizada por el racionero Alfonso González que tiene por objeto dejar constancia escrita de los bienes y derechos que poseía el Cabildo al momento de su redacción. A través de la declaración de los testigos en los 118 lugares visitados es posible conocer la fisonomía y los contornos del dominio señorial, las modalidades de gestión del patrimonio, los mecanismos de acumulación y los procesos de diferenciación social, la estructura de la propiedad de la tierra, etc. Se constituye, por tanto, en una pieza clave para el conocimiento de la historia económico-social del espacio salmantino durante la Baja Edad Media.

    Description: La Historia Reciente se ha consolidado en forma significativa en la última década, en parte como producto de los avances y debates que hemos producido al interior del ámbito disciplinar quienes nos dedicamos a su estudio.     Description: Se puede reconstruir la situación general de la Argentina durante los años 1913-1923, pero menos estudiado ha sido el comportamiento de la crisis en las economías regionales dependiente del mercado interno. El presente libro intenta subsanar esa situación respecto de la vitivinicultura de Mendoza. Él recoge investigaciones inéditas y otras presentadas en reuniones científicas, publicadas en revistas especializadas o como capítulos de libros. El periodo elegido cubre el comienzo de la crisis del sector en 1913, la recuperación con el fin de la Gran Guerra, y los coletazos posteriores de la crisis hasta comienzos de 1923, cuando se derogó la legislación vitivinícola sancionada durante esos años.

    Description: Esta obra busca comprender las construcciones de sentidos sociales del espacio denominado Araucanía-Norpatagonia. Y es importante destacar que los sentidos no son unívocos. En este caso, la pluralidad de lo territorial se intuye en las diferentes perspectivas de acercamiento, mostrando tanto la polisemia como las tensiones detrás de conceptos tales como espacio, frontera o representación.Para ello, los investigadores y cientistas sociales que escriben este volumen, asumen el debate centro-periferia entendiendo que la particular mirada desarrollada desde un territorio de integración tardía, como es la Patagonia tanto en Argentina como en Chile, construye una mirada epistemológica necesaria y singular.Así, la Patagonia adopta un carácter plural, las naciones se diversifican y los sentidos y prácticas de lo estatal se complejizan. Además, las territorialidades y las subjetividades forman parte de los desafíos que se abordan, reconociéndose como abiertos.

    Description: El Apostadero Naval Malvinas, la Primera Unidad Naval creada en suelo malvinense el 2 de abril de 1982, fue un centro logístico de la guerra en el Atlántico Sur. Este libro reconstruye la historia del grupo Apostadero Naval Malvinas desde que sus integrantes regresaron al continente luego de la rendición en junio de 1982 hasta el año 2013, cuando se cumplieron 30 años de sus encuentros anuales, tomando como eje el clivaje experiencia-identidad-memoria. La investigación recoge las experiencias de posguerra de los civiles y militares que formaron parte del Apostadero, explorando las formas en que la vivencia bélica significó una marca en sus vidas, en sus identidades y sus memorias. A partir de allí, aborda las redefiniciones y modificaciones identitarias que atravesó este grupo de personas a lo largo de la posguerra, haciendo foco en las reuniones anuales del 20 de junio. Esto permite historizar la construcción de una memoria común de la guerra y de la propia experiencia bélica por parte de los miembros del grupo Apostadero.

The history of representation tells us of transformations, even epochal ones, relating to ‘drawing’, with all that such transitions entail: suffice it to think of the evolution of forms of representation, of instrumental apparatuses, of the mutability of supports, of the analogical-digital transition underway, of the new modes of communication on platforms, of the hypertrophic offer of images also on the net that confirms Guy Debord’s intuitions relating to the new spectacularisation of society. Similarly, representation triggers transitions in the prefiguration and communication of design, the anticipation and foreshadowing of future events.The challenges posed by the digital pose open questions whose scope can only be glimpsed, such as the relationship between drawing and the act of modelling, and the construction of new paradigms of visual language and communication. ‘Transitions’, almost implicitly, points to possible futures, the evolution of technique and the search for new modes of expression; at the same time, however, it can suggest silences and reflections in a process of connection between history, theory, criticism and construction.
