    Description: This book suggests the importance of examining alternative discourses in the social sciences, in this case economics, beyond western-centric cultural milieu. The account attempts to unveil the existence of a post Second World War economic approach developed in Latin America. The perspective questioned the dominant economic science disseminated within and outside the Anglo-Saxon or Eurocentric countries (western-centric academia) during the 1950´s. Today, after the appalling cataclysms in welfare and equality generated by neoclassical economics, an alternative economics seems order in the Northern and Southern hemisphere. The rebirth of Latin American Structuralism within the developing countries, and the widely publicized names of Raúl Prebisch, Celso Furtado among others, within the western-centric audiences requires an up to date of the vocabulary and concepts. Retrospectively these authors discussed can be examined as the original sources in Latin America among those who developed the basis of decolonial thought. The book problematizes the domestication of Latin American Structuralism in the Northern or Southern hemisphere alike and discusses its potential similarities to Post-Keynesian perspectives related to power asymmetries among countries, firms, and heterogenous agents.

    Description: This work reconstructs the political-intellectual trajectory of the Socialist Party of Chile between 1932 and 1973, reviewing its emergence and development in national political life through key moments for the development of party reflection. As stated in its pages, these moments frequently exceeded the limits of party life, being linked to events and processes typical of the global, continental and national political development of the 20th century. It is argued that during the period in question there were a series of debates that accounted for different stages in the organizational, social and intellectual development of contemporary Chilean socialism. These debates were framed in three key concepts that were frequently discussed throughout the trajectory: class, anti-imperialism and revolution. At different times, and with different meanings, the trends defined themselves and their organization as class, anti-imperialist and revolutionary, without there being a consensus on the political and programmatic scope of these definitions.

    Description: La presente obra, fruto de iniciativas que reúne a varias universidades y especialistas del país, aparece cuando se está cumpliendo un siglo del surgimiento de la historia de las elaciones internacionales como subdiscipli- na histórica. Por lo mismo, nos ha parecido relevante significar esta conmemoracion abordando un tema que hunde sus raices en el propio campo de estudios aludido. En efecto, mucho se ha escrito sobre el Tratado de 1904, tanto en Chile como en Bolivia, de ahí que ya vemos una sérié de estudios recientes que han ido aclarando ese proceso. El présente libro, por eso mismo, no trata del acuerdo en sí, sino de su relevancia como hito de un cambio decisivo en la trayectoria de Chile como vence- dor de la Guerra del Pacífico, hasta 1929.

    Description: The volume that the reader has in his hands (or on his screen) constitutes a selection of the studies presented at the international congress “1820. The Illusion of Freedom. Revolutionary liberalism in Spain and America in the 1920s ”, held in Las Cabezas de San Juan and Seville in March 2020, as a way to reflect (and celebrate, of course) the bicentennial of the revolution that began the so-called Liberal Triennium Spanish. The anniversary functioned as an excuse to analyze relevant problems of the present. In this case, the congress returned to the links between a stagnant society, which had nothing else to offer, and one of the most important revolutions that took place in the Iberian Peninsula. This was done through the presentation of a set of investigations that addressed the economic, political, social and cultural aspects of the Spanish revolution of 1820, and that crossed the Ibero-American world in the first half of the 19th century. It was a collective effort, which we hope we have embodied in this compilation.

Los trabajos reunidos en este volumen tienen en común no sólo su preocupación por rescatar la historia del socialismo y del movimiento obrero, sino su enfoque explícitamente marxista. El marxismo es mucho más que un marco teórico académico: es una guía para la acción revolucionaria.     Description: El volumen que el lector posee en sus manos (o en su pantalla) constituye una selección de los estudios presentados en el congreso internacional “1820. La Ilusión de la Libertad. El liberalismo revolucionario en España y América en los años veinte”, realizado en Las Cabezas de San Juan y Sevilla en marzo de 2020, como forma de reflexionar (y celebrar, por supuesto) el bicentenario del Trienio Liberal español, atendiendo no sólo a sus implicancias en la Península Ibérica, sino especialmente a su impacto en América. La efeméride funcionó, entonces, como una excusa para analizar problemas relevantes del pasado y el presente. En este caso, los vínculos entre una sociedad estancada, y que ya nada más tenía para ofrecer, y una de las revoluciones más importantes que se desenvolvió a lo largo y ancho de Iberoamérica. Esto se hizo por medio de la presentación de un conjunto de investigaciones que atendieron a los aspectos económicos, políticos, sociales y culturales de la revolución de 1820. Se trató de un esfuerzo colectivo, que esperamos haber plasmado en esta compilación.
