    Description: Nonostante l’Open Access, vale a dire la disponibilità libera e gratuita dei contenuti in internet, sia ormai un’iniziativa conosciuta, ci sono ancora idee molto confuse e interpretazioni erronee su alcune delle sue caratteristiche e sul suo funzionamento. In quest’opera, Ernest Abadal ha l’obiettivo di chiarire i dubbi e fraintendimenti più frequenti riguardo l’Open Access, presentando le basi teoriche di questo sistema, il ruolo delle riviste scientifiche e l’attitudine dei ricercatori, nonché una stima di quali siano le prospettive future. Questa guida si rivolge tanto agli accademici e ai dirigenti universitari, quanto agli editori e ai professionisti in ambito bibliotecario.     Description: This book comprises the contributions presented at the Study Day addressing technical and scientific innovation in Italy in the sectors of electricity and telecommunications, organised in the Faculty of Engineering of Florence University by AICT (Associazione per la Tecnologia dell'Informazione e delle Comunicazioni) and AEE (Associazione Energia Elettrica, of the AEIT Federation) in the framework of the celebrations marking the bicentenary of the birth of Antonio Meucci. The first section presents three addresses by guest speakers dealing with the past, present and future of telecommunications, while the second section consists of nine articles selected on open-call basis representing original contributions from young researchers in the sectors of electricity and telecommunications.

    Description: The research is aimed at investigating the changes in the methods of "construction" of representations of the territory due to the communicative evolution of disciplinary statutes and to the increasingly stringent and widespread use of new information and communication technologies. It focuses its reflection on the field of representations intended to substantiate the local and territorial project dimension. The focus of the work is on the methodological value and possible process innovation, rather than on the simple description of an expert technical product. The emphasis is on the possible value of building knowledge of territorial representations (heritage elaborations or project scenarios) drawn up through collective action.

    Description: The volume, dedicated to the 44th International Conference of the Italian Union for Drawing, investigates the theme of ‘Transitions’, which particularly effectively represents our time and the current condition of the discipline of Drawing. The term, beyond its generic meaning of an intermediate stage in a process in which a condition changes from one state to another, has always been used in various fields, from music to geophysics. In fact, the disciplines of drawing have always been confronted with themes and issues relating to transitions from one condition to another. The history of representation tells us of transformations, even epochal ones, relating to ‘drawing’, with all that such transitions entail: suffice it to think of the evolution of forms of representation, of instrumental apparatuses, of the mutability of supports, of the analogical-digital transition underway, of the new modes of communication on platforms, of the hypertrophic offer of images also on the net that confirms Guy Debord’s intuitions relating to the new spectacularisation of society. Similarly, representation triggers transitions in the prefiguration and communication of design, the anticipation and foreshadowing of future events.The challenges posed by the digital pose open questions whose scope can only be glimpsed, such as the relationship between drawing and the act of modelling, and the construction of new paradigms of visual language and communication. ‘Transitions’, almost implicitly, points to possible futures, the evolution of technique and the search for new modes of expression; at the same time, however, it can suggest silences and reflections in a process of connection between history, theory, criticism and construction.

    Description: This volume, born from the collaboration of thirty-four scholars and trade union representatives, has a dual purpose. Firstly, to propose the analysis and theses on the human and political meaning of work contained in Bruno Trentin’s main book La città del lavoro (2nd ed., Firenze University Press, 2014), in the current phase of social transformations and theoretical uncertainties. Secondly, to promote a reflection testing the book’s fertility and topicality in order to deepen the processes at work at the start of the 21st century, in the belief that the pages written in 1997 by one of the greatest representatives of the history of the CGIL represent a 'classic' of the socio-political thought of the 20th century. The emerging result is surprising in many ways, and corresponds to the extraordinary richness of Trentin’s project, as well as to the political and trade-unionist ability of its author.
