If the NHS and its healthcare companies have only recently become aware of being faced with a "new normality", and, therefore, of having to "shed their skin" to face the challenges connected to it, a new normality for Life Science companies, perhaps best described as a perfect storm, it has become a reality at least since the early years of the new century. The world in which access to the market, the introduction of innovation, and consolidation of sales were built around the supervision of regulatory processes and the share of voice towards the prescribers have become much more complex. A context that many define as VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous).
In this book, therefore, both the reasons that prompted Life Science companies to rethink their strategy by dedicating increasing attention to the political and institutional decision-makers of the Regions and the management of healthcare companies, and the internal organization to support and strengthen their “market access” capabilities. Through the different perspectives - academic, consultancy, managerial - of the three authors, the logic that has guided the "change of skin" of Life Science companies is explored, as the functional tools for market access, the different declinations that this activity has had in the sector, future scenarios and further evolutionary prospects, the connection with the other company functions - sales, marketing, medical management, institutional affairs, administration - and many technical aspects which are the heart of the skills and toolbox required of those who want to successfully develop a career right in the field of market access.

Se l’SSN e le sue aziende sanitarie hanno assunto solo recentemente consapevolezza di trovarsi a fronteggiare una “nuova normalità”, e quindi di dover “cambiare pelle” per fronteggiare le sfide ad essa connesse, per le imprese del Life Science una nuova normalità, forse meglio definibile come una tempesta perfetta, è diventata realtà almeno dai primi anni del nuovo secolo. Il mondo in cui l’accesso al mercato, l’introduzione dell’innovazione ed il consolidamento delle vendite erano costruiti attorno al presidio dei processi regolatori ed allo share of voice nei confronti dei prescrittori è diventato molto più complesso. Un contesto definito da molti come VUCA, e cioè volatile, incerto, complesso, ambiguo.
In questo libro sono quindi approfonditi sia le ragioni che hanno spinto le imprese del Life Science a ripensare sia la propria strategia dedicando crescente attenzione ai decisori politici, istituzionali delle Regioni ed al management delle aziende sanitarie, sia l’organizzazione interna per sostenere e potenziare la loro capacità di “accesso al mercato”. Attraverso le diverse prospettive – accademica, consulenziale, manageriale – dei tre autori sono approfondite le logiche che hanno guidato il “cambiamento di pelle” delle imprese Life Science, gli strumenti funzionali all’accesso mercato, le diverse declinazioni che tale attività ha avuto nel settore, gli scenari futuri e le prospettive evolutive ulteriori, il collegamento con le altre funzioni aziendali - vendite, marketing, direzione medica, affari istituzionali, amministrazione - e molti aspetti tecnici che sono il cuore delle competenze e della casetta degli attrezzi richiesta a chi vuole con successo sviluppare una carriera proprio nell’ambito dell’accesso al mercato.
