    Description: I quaderni di laboratorio di Antoine-Laurent Lavoisier (1743-1794) sono fonti preziose per chi studia la cosiddetta “nuova chimica” del Settecento. Tutt’ora inediti, questi documenti sono qui riletti alla luce di un dettaglio: la presenza, tra una pagina e l’altra, della grafia di Marie-Anne Paulze-Lavoisier (1758-1836), moglie e collaboratrice del celebre chimico francese. È in effetti lei, ben più di altri assistenti, a compilare questo grande “archivio dell’esperimento”, per poi conservarlo (senza mai smettere di maneggiarlo) nei quattro decenni che seguirono la morte del marito nel 1794. Un lavoro che lei stessa assimilava con orgoglio a quello di un «segretario». Questo libro ricuce insieme queste storie, aprendo nuove prospettive tra storia materiale della scienza, storia sociale e storia delle donne e di genere.

    Description: This volume contains the Proceedings of the Conference held on Oct. 7-8, 2022, at the Department of Humanities, Languages and Cultural Heritage of the University of Cagliari, as a conclusion of a two-year Research Project. The idea of dedicating a Research Project to artistic-craft production arose from years of fieldwork in both archaeological and art-historical disciplines, which have increasingly highlighted how much the long tradition of craftsmanship of which Sardinia is proud, which is expressed in artifacts made of ceramics, glass, metal, stone, wood and fabric, even at first glance reveals a transmission of technical and artistic 'knowledge' that is kept alive through the centuries.

    Description: Il volume contiene gli Atti del Convegno tenuto nei giorni 7-8 ottobre 2022, presso il Dipartimento di Lettere, Lingue e Beni culturali dell'Università di Cagliari, a conclusione dello svolgimento del Progetto biennale di ricerca omonimo. L’idea di dedicare alla produzione artistico-artigianale un Progetto di ricerca è scaturita da anni di lavoro sul campo sia nel settore delle discipline archeologiche sia storico-artistiche, che hanno evidenziato sempre più quanto la lunga tradizione artigianale di cui la Sardegna va fiera, che si esprime in manufatti in ceramica, vetro, metallo, pietra, legno e tessuto, anche solo ad un primo sguardo riveli una trasmissione di ‘saperi’ tecnici e artistici che si mantiene viva attraverso i secoli.

    Description: The teaching of science subjects in Italian universities has undergone profound changes with the introduction of the 1999 reform of the autonomy of universities and the consequent introduction of course credits, which has forced degree programs to significantly reduce the number of lecture hours that can be delivered. This has induced if not forced many professors to simplify content, heavily reducing the exemplifications that can be offered and also, often, foregoing the deductive rigor that many disciplines might require. This text is the result of an attempt to present the fundamentals of statistical mechanics to Italian master's degree students by employing an axiomatic approach. The reader is guided through a theory-building process that helps him or her understand its main conceptual junctures, stimulating interest and critical thinking. Shying away from formalism, the volume is intended as a compromise between the need to keep the teaching load proportionate to the hours of classes given and the mathematical skills of the students, while at the same time ensuring sufficient examples of applications of the theory to appreciate its relevance and predictive potential.

    Description: L'insegnamento delle materie scientifiche nelle università italiane ha subito profondi cambiamenti con l'introduzione della riforma dell'autonomia didattica degli atenei del 1999 e con la conseguente introduzione del credito formativo universitario, che ha costretto i corsi di laurea ad una significativa contrazione del numero di ore di lezione erogabili. Questo ha indotto se non costretto molti docenti ad una semplificazione dei contenuti, riducendo pesantemente le esemplificazioni proponibili e anche, spesso, rinunciando al rigore deduttivo che molte discipline potrebbero richiedere. Questo testo è il risultato del tentativo di presentare i fondamenti della meccanica statistica agli studenti delle lauree magistrali italiane impiegando un approccio assiomatico. Il lettore viene guidato in un percorso di costruzione della teoria che lo aiuta a comprenderne i principali snodi concettuali, stimolandone l’interesse e lo spirito critico. Rifuggendo da eccessi formali, il volume si propone come un compromesso tra la necessità di mantenere il carico didattico dell’insegnamento proporzionato alle ore di lezione impartite e alle competenze matematiche degli studenti, garantendo allo stesso tempo esempi di applicazioni della teoria sufficienti per apprezzarne la rilevanza e le potenzialità predittive.
