    Description: The performance and flexibility of robot technologies make it possible to bring robots to everyday life. This creates many challenges: safety, legal regulations, reliability, reusability, and business models must be considered under special conditions. The acceptance and interaction of humans and robots are of central importance for the success of the applications.     Description: Interaction with dynamic image content is challenging for user perception, cognition and motor action. This dissertation identifies appropriate gaze-based interaction techniques for moving object selection in image sequences using multiple cross-sectional and one longitudinal user study. Further investigations evaluate how gaze-based interaction and automated image exploitation algorithms support human video exploitation as well as whether gaze-based user task classification is feasible.

    Description: Ellipsometry is a measuring method for surface characterization and thin-film measurement of flat surfaces using polarized light. However, a new measuring principle based on return-path ellipsometry and retroreflection enables the detection of free-form surfaces. This new measurement principle and related questions regarding the measurement function, evaluation algorithms and ambiguities as well as degrees of freedom of the solution set are examined in this work.

    Description: Human support in surveillance tasks is crucial due to the overwhelming amount of sensor data. This work focuses on the development of data fusion methods using the maritime domain as an example. Various anomalies are investigated, evaluated using real vessel traffic data and tested with experts. For this purpose, situations of interest and anomalies are modelled and evaluated based on different machine learning methods.

    Description: Digitalization has already transformed many areas of the economy and social life. Aspects of healthcare and clinical practice are also undergoing digital transformation. In light of these developments, this dissertation sheds light on the acquisition, representation, and use of process knowledge in the context of hybrid AI methods. The central contribution is the structure-preserving back-and-forth transformation of process trees to process plans.

    Description: In this work, an approach for adaptive world modeling is proposed. World models for cognitive systems often employ predefined domain models, which may become insufficient when encountering unforeseen entities. The presented approach addresses an adaptive extension of such domain models, considering the relevance of proposed model adaptations. As a basis, a quantitative model evaluation is devised, rating the ability of a domain model to represent the currently observed environment state.

    Description: Automated defense and prevention measures designed to protect industrial automation and control systems often compromise their real-time processing, resilience and redundancy. Therefore, they need to be performed as non-invasively as possible. Nevertheless, particularly minimally invasive security analysis and incident response are still poorly researched.     Description: The system described in this work, called ProNat, makes end-user programming with spoken language possible. It enables non-experts to describe programs for different target systems and to extend their functionality using everyday language. ProNat is based on PARSE, a specially designed agent-based framework architecture. In three independent studies, ProNat has proven to be principally capable of synthesizing programs from spoken utterances.

    Description: Intuitive interaction techniques are essential for mobile augmented reality systems. For implicit interaction, this work presents techniques for automatic eye movement analysis and visualization. In the context of explicit interaction, a fusion of optical flow, skin color segmentation, and a hand pose estimator is presented along with a tracking method for localization and pose estimation of a hand in monocular color images.

    Description: Sensor-based sorting enables the separation of individual particles from a material stream. In this work, a novel sorting system using an area-scan camera is investigated.     Description: The solution of various tasks benefits from information fusion or even requires it. The Bayesian fusion methodology is clear, well-founded and fulfills the essential requirements for a meaningful methodology also for fusing the contributions of heterogeneous information sources. In many practically relevant tasks, Bayesian methods cause high, often unacceptable effort. In the work, novel approaches to cope with Bayesian fusion in such situations are formulated and investigated.

    Description: In this work a Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) shape sensor for shape detection of flexible objects is presented. Such sensors are used particularly in medical technology. Although the subject of FBG sensor technology has been investigated and advanced by research groups worldwide since the beginning of the 21st century, no sensor concept has yet been able to establish itself on the market. This work focuses on the derivation of shape sensing algorithms to improve FBG-shape sensors.

Dabei wird vor allem nach den Parametern des Raums und der Identität im Prozess der Globalisierung gefragt. Innerhalb eines deutschen Kontextes wird untersucht, wodurch Migrationsprozesse konstituiert sind, welche Probleme und Orientierungsunsicherheiten sie nach sich ziehen können und wie mit kultureller Differenz umgegangen wird. Es werden zudem Vorschläge zu möglichen Veränderungsprozessen in der Kulturpolitik und Kulturarbeit gemacht.
