Es wird eine Übersicht der aus dem „Prä-Aquitanium" des Mainzer
Beckens bekannten Taxa der Charophyten vorgestellt. Als Basis dieser Bestandsaufnahme,
die einen ersten Schritt für detaillierte Untersuchungen bieten soll, dient die Arbeit
Mowahed-Awal(1970), deren Originalmaterial teilweise neu interpretiert wurde. Daneben
werden auch Aussagen zur Biostratigraphie und Paläobiogeographie sowie allgemeine
Angaben zur Paläoökologie und Biostratinomie gemacht.

Abstract: A Compilation of the taxa of charophytes occuring in the „pre-aquitanian"
Tertiary beds of the Mainz basin is presented to suggest more detailed investigations.
Being the base of the following inventory, the publication of Mowahed-Awal(1970), the
only one up to now dedicated to the subject, had to be partially reinterpreted with regard
to its original material. Furthermore, some data on biostratigraphy and paleobiogeography
are given, and more in general, remarks on paleoecology and biostratinomy.
