Isabell Baumann rekonstruiert den Emanzipationsprozess Luxemburgs von der Staatsgründung über die beiden Weltkriege bis zum Jahr 1984. Ein besonderes Augenmerk wird dabei auf die Konstruktionsmechanismen von Identität und ihre literarische Diskursivierung im Horizont einer sich herausbildenden Nationalliteratur gelegt.

    Description: Dem Vergleichen wird in der Geschichtswissenschaft die Funktion einer historischen Methode zugesprochen, für den Geschichtsunterricht dient es als Methode zur Förderung historischer Kompetenzen. In den Geschichtslehrwerken der Sekundarstufe II taucht es in der Regel in Form von Aufgaben auf. Doch wie relevant sind Vergleichsaufgaben in Lehrwerken überhaupt und welche Fertigkeiten und Kompetenzen benötigen Lernende in der Sekundarstufe II zur (schriftlichen) Lösung einer historischen Vergleichsaufgabe? Diesen Fragen wird mit Hilfe einer zweiteiligen Untersuchung auf der Grundlage einer umfangreichen Frequenzanalyse von Aufgaben in Geschichtslehrwerken der Sekundarstufe II in NRW sowie einer Korpusanalyse von Lernendentexten zu einer authentischen Vergleichsaufgabe aus einem Geschichtslehrwerk nachgegangen. Die Arbeit verbindet den geschichtsdidaktischen Zugang mit dem linguistischen Ansatz der Funktionalen Pragmatik, um das Vergleichen als Handlungsmuster des Geschichtsunterrichts zu bestimmen und es im Hinblick auf seinen kommunikativen Zweck in Teilhandlungen aufzuschlüsseln. Der Zugang wird ergänzt durch den Bezug zur Schreibdidaktik, der gerade im Hinblick auf wissenschaftspropädeutisches Arbeiten in der Sekundarstufe II eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Aus den Ergebnissen der Untersuchungen wird auf der Grundlage eines Indikatorenmodells ein praxisorientierter Weg zum Umgang mit Vergleichsaufgaben im Geschichtsunterricht vorgeschlagen.

The two thematic blocks focus, on the one hand, on diverse literary studies considerations of the dichotomy of the conceptual pair, and, on the other hand, on linguistic conceptions of center and periphery. Thus, new perspectives on both central and peripheral phenomena in Romance studies are opened up, on the one hand by presenting the range of (traditional) centers and peripheries, and on the other hand by referring to current discussions in the context of the two concepts.

Die Engelsfigur ist aber nicht bloß statisches Überbleibsel einer verlorenen Glaubensgewissheit. Vielmehr steht sie in einer produktiven Beziehung zu zentralen geschichtsphilosophischen, politischen und medienästhetischen Fragen der Zeit. Die vorliegende Studie geht den Zusammenhängen zwischen Engelsfigur und Moderne-Diskurs entlang eines Spannungsbogens nach, der von Reflexionen eines metaphysischen Exils Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts über die Zuspitzung existentieller Bedrohung im Ersten und Zweiten Weltkrieg bis zum Undarstellbarkeitstopos des Holocaust verläuft. Dabei wird deutlich, dass der Engel auf vielfache Weise als Verursacher und gleichzeitig als zukunftsgerichteter Überwinder moderner Formen des Exils auftritt – als Figur, die geschichtsphilosophische Brüche herbeiführt und individualbiographische Traumata sichtbar macht; die die moderne Deformation des Menschen illustriert und wahlweise zu heilen oder voranzutreiben versucht; und die schließlich neue politische Ordnungen entwirft und sie als ästhetische Metalepse bereits in der Exilgegenwart veranschaulicht.

Aus literaturwissenschaftlicher, insbesondere narratologischer Forschung sowie mathematischen, philosophischen, physikalischen und kulturwissenschaftlichen Ansätzen zur Thematik des Raumes wird ein fuzzy-set-Modell herausgearbeitet, mit dem Raum in literarischen Texten analysiert und quantifiziert werden kann. Das Modell ist Grundlage eines Machine-Learning- Trainings, mit Hilfe dessen ein Tool trainiert wurde, das Ausdrücke, die in die Kategorien des theoriebasierten Modells fallen, automatisch erkennt und annotiert. In einem Kernkorpus aus 100 Romanen aus vier Jahrhunderten (18-21) wurden mit Hilfe dieses Tools mehr als eine Million Annotationen in die Texte eingefügt und anschließend analysiert.

    Description: Die Erfahrung digitaler Schriftlichkeit hat nicht bloß die Materialität der Schrift bewusster gemacht, sondern auch die gegenwärtige Schriftpraxis als eine maschinell bedingte offenbart. Von diesem Befund ausgehend, nehmen die Beiträger*innen des Bandes die Agentialität der Schrift genauer in den Blick und prüfen auch für die analoge Praxis, welche Handlungsmacht sie besitzt.     Description: In the years 1738/39, Gottsched was mostly concerned with two events: his departure from the “Deutsche Gesellschaft” which he had been heading and the resulting developments, and the continuation of his disputes on the philosophy of Christian Wolff which he had been conducting with the Lutheran-Orthodox theologians. Through the support of the influential Imperial Count Ernst von Manteuffel, Gottsched now acquired strong political backing. This is documented by 52 of the total of 204 letters published in this volume, a correspondence in which Mrs Gottsched also soon became involved. The letters of other correspondents also deal with Wolff’s rationalist philosophy, as well as other very varied themes such as theater, teaching of the German language in schools, the problems of Leipzig students, newspaper polemics, planned translation projects and the competing editions of the writings of Martin Opitz, the “father of German poetry”, that were undertaken in Leipzig and Zurich.

Die Forschung des 20. Jahrhunderts interessierte sich vornehmlich für die formale und ästhetische Dimension dieses Aneignungsprozesses: Horaz lernte gewissermaßen durch das gründliche Studium von Sappho und Alkaios, wie man gute lyrische Gedichte schrieb. Die vorliegende Studie nimmt diesen Vorgang nicht als selbstverständlich hin, sondern untersucht für besonders relevante Themen (Liebe, Symposium, Gesang, Politik) und Autorenpersönlichkeiten (Sappho, Archilochos, Pindar), welches spezifische Potenzial römische Autoren in den griechischen Texten sahen und wie sie ihre Prätexte auch dafür nutzten, eine kritische Distanz zur eigenen Gegenwart aufzubauen.

Dem gegenüber stehen verschiedene Verben wie rita, rista, skrifa, dikta, setja saman, lesa oder sjá, die auf spezifische Aspekte referieren. Für die Erforschung der mittelalterlichen Schriftlichkeit ist es deshalb grundlegend, diese Konzepte zu kennen. Trotzdem gab es bisher nur punktuelle Analysen einzelner Aspekte, Lexeme, Texte und Textstellen. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht den Wortschatz erstmals in einem grösseren Textkorpus, das drei zentrale Quellentexte für die mittelalterliche isländische Schriftkultur umfasst. Die Konzepte werden mithilfe der syntagmatischen Relationen analysiert, welche die semantischen Strukturen auf der Ausdrucksseite abbilden. Dies ermöglicht eine systematische Betrachtung der Konzepte und der verschiedenen Aspekte der mittelalterlichen isländischen Schriftlichkeit.

    Description: Of the 218 letters, 126 belong to correspondence with the Imperial Count Ernst Christoph von Manteuffel, a dedicated patron of the supporters of Christian Wolff and the head of the Berlin chapter of the Society of Alethophiles. In Berlin and Leipzig great hopes were placed in the Prussian heir apparent Friedrich II, whom many saw a kind of Platonian "philosopher king" who would help elevate reason and Wolffian philosophy to new heights. The letters document the development of a rationalistic strain in Gottsched's sermons. They also provide insight into the satires of Wolff's opponents written by L.A.V. Gottsched. Gottsched's speeches concerning Martin Opitz and the "book printing anniversary" (Buchdruckjubiläum) found strong resonance in the correspondence and inspired letters concerning similar undertakings. Jakob Brucker's letters illuminate the planning and creation of the "Bilder-sal", a contemporary history of notable scholars that featured biographies and portraits, and which came to include Gottsched and his wife.

    Description: The letters collected in Volume 4 show Gottsched at the height of his fame and recognition as a poetry theorist, linguist, philosopher, theater reformer, and publicist. Recurring themes in the correspondence, in addition to the introduction of German language instruction in high schools, are questions about poetry theory, the translation of foreign-language books, and the printing of works by Gottsched and his pen pals. The confrontation with representatives of Lutheran orthodoxy, of which the letters bear detailed witness, increasingly became a major problem for Gottsched, threatening his professional existence.

    Description: Das Buch befasst sich mit einem besonders auffälligen kulturellen Phänomen: Jeder der in Frankreich zu tun hat, wird mit der dort vorherrschenden indirekten Form der Kommunikation konfrontiert. Insbesondere Deutschen fällt aufgrund ihrer ganz anders gearteten Art und Weise des Umgangs und Sprechens auf, dass man in unserem Nachbarland neben der Beherrschung der Sprache insbesondere die Kunst des Impliziten beherrschen muss, um ins Gespräch zu kommen. Nachgegangen wird der Frage, in welcher Zeit und aus welchen Gründen sich die indirekte Kommunikation in Frankreich als Habitus herausgebildet und verfestigt hat. Gezeigt wird, wie die Literatur über die Kunst des Impliziten nachdenkt und welche Rolle diese Kunst in der kulturellen Ausnahmestellung (‚exception culturelle‘) Frankreichs in Europa einnimmt, die das Land sich seit Jahrhunderten zugute hält. Anhand von herausragenden Beispielen der französischen Literatur vom 16. bis zum 21. Jahrhundert werden die Reflexionen über die indirekte Form des Sprechen analysiert. Das Buch ist aus einer mehrfach gehaltenen Vorlesung zur Frage der Interkulturalität in der deutsch-französischen Begegnung hervorgegangen. Es gehört in die Rubrik einer interkulturellen Literaturgeschichte.

Die altfranzösische Karlsdichtung wurde dabei in kompilierter Form auch im Norden rezipiert: Als Karlamagnús saga liegt sie im Altwestnordischen vor, als Karl Magnus im Altschwedischen und Karl Magnus Krønike im Altdänischen. Durch Kontextualisierung der Karlsdichtung in den fünf überlieferten ostnordischen Handschriften aus dem 15. Jahrhundert werden intertextuelle Bezüge sichtbar, die zur Klärung der Frage beitragen, warum Karl der Große im Norden einerseits als aristokratischer Held, andererseits als Heiliger rezipiert wurde. Neben der philologischen Lektüre der altschwedischen, altdänischen und altfranzösischen Texte tragen vor allem kulturwissenschaftliche Ansätze aus den Feldern Memory Studies, Gender Studies sowie aus der Alteritätsforschung dazu bei, den Transfer scheinbar stabiler Konzepte wie Identität, Geschlecht und Alterität in der mittelalterlichen Literatur des Nordens nachzuvollziehen.

Allgemein zeigt die Untersuchung auf, dass der Gestaltung/Materialität von Büchern sowohl beim Lesen und Schreiben Lernen wie auch in einer ästhetischen Auffassung eine bedeutende Rolle zukommt.

Aber erst mit der Schaffung eines Lehrstuhls und zweier nordistischer Abteilungen wurde es möglich, Nordistik bzw. Skandinavistik als Fach zu studieren. Die vorliegende Publikation stellt die für kleine Fächer paradigmatische Geschichte der Schweizer Nordistik der letzten fünfzig Jahre in den Grundzügen dar. Beschrieben werden in knapper Form die Vorgeschichte seit dem 19. Jahrhundert und die Hintergründe, die zur Errichtung der beiden Abteilungen führten, sowie schwerpunktmäßig der Verlauf nordischer Studien von räumlich beengten und personell bescheidenen Anfängen bis zu den neuesten, dynamischen Aktivitäten in Forschung und Lehre. Kürzere Texte von ehemaligen Studierenden und Mitarbeitenden und zahlreiche Abbildungen ergänzen die Darstellung.

Die vorliegende Studie greift diesen scheinbaren Widerspruch auf und untersucht exemplarisch vier Prosatexte der Autoren Herman Heijermans, J. van Oudshoorn, Hendrik Marsman und Paul van Ostaijen. Wie stellen sie die Stadt dar? Welche Metaphern verwenden sie? Und wie lassen sich die Texte in der Tradition der europäischen Großstadtdarstellung verorten? Eng am Text arbeitend, nuanciert die Untersuchung anhand zahlreicher Zitate, Kommentare und Hintergrundinformationen nicht nur die bisherige literaturhistorische Einordnung der einzelnen Autoren, sondern setzt sich darüber hinaus kritisch mit der in der niederländischen Philologie verbreiteten These eines verspäteten Aufgreifens des Modernismus auseinander.
