Trotz des deutlich gewachsenen Interesses an der Erforschung von Lehrerprofessionalität ist bislang noch wenig konturiert, wie die etablierten Konstrukte «Wissen» und «Überzeugungen» fachdidaktisch zu profilieren sind.     Beschreibung: Dem Vergleichen wird in der Geschichtswissenschaft die Funktion einer historischen Methode zugesprochen, für den Geschichtsunterricht dient es als Methode zur Förderung historischer Kompetenzen. In den Geschichtslehrwerken der Sekundarstufe II taucht es in der Regel in Form von Aufgaben auf. Doch wie relevant sind Vergleichsaufgaben in Lehrwerken überhaupt und welche Fertigkeiten und Kompetenzen benötigen Lernende in der Sekundarstufe II zur (schriftlichen) Lösung einer historischen Vergleichsaufgabe? Diesen Fragen wird mit Hilfe einer zweiteiligen Untersuchung auf der Grundlage einer umfangreichen Frequenzanalyse von Aufgaben in Geschichtslehrwerken der Sekundarstufe II in NRW sowie einer Korpusanalyse von Lernendentexten zu einer authentischen Vergleichsaufgabe aus einem Geschichtslehrwerk nachgegangen. Die Arbeit verbindet den geschichtsdidaktischen Zugang mit dem linguistischen Ansatz der Funktionalen Pragmatik, um das Vergleichen als Handlungsmuster des Geschichtsunterrichts zu bestimmen und es im Hinblick auf seinen kommunikativen Zweck in Teilhandlungen aufzuschlüsseln. Der Zugang wird ergänzt durch den Bezug zur Schreibdidaktik, der gerade im Hinblick auf wissenschaftspropädeutisches Arbeiten in der Sekundarstufe II eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Aus den Ergebnissen der Untersuchungen wird auf der Grundlage eines Indikatorenmodells ein praxisorientierter Weg zum Umgang mit Vergleichsaufgaben im Geschichtsunterricht vorgeschlagen.

    Beschreibung: The Auerspergs [Turjaški] are among the rare noble families in the Slovenian territory with systematically preserved archives that date back to the Middle Ages. Most archival materials of the family, which was largely embedded in the framework of the Province of Carniola until the end of the 15th century, are presently kept in two private family archives: the Turjak Comital Fideicomiss Archives (Gräflich Auersperg'sches Fideikommisarchiv), first kept in the Turjak Castle until 1942 and now in the Carinthian Provincial Archives in Klagenfurt, and the Turjak Ducal Archives (Fürstlich Auersperg'sches Archiv), which were first moved to the Turjak Palace in Ljubljana and the Lower Austrian Lösensteinleiten Castle and finally ended up in the Viennese Haus-, Hof-, und Staatsarchiv.Turjaška knjiga listin 1 (1218–1400) [Turjak Book of Charters I (1218–1400)] contains 277 charters from the private archives of the Carniolan comital and ducal lines of the Auerspergs [Turjaški]. Published in their entirety, the charters are equipped with Slovenian regests and followed in the end by a comprehensive index of names and pictures of seals from the charters. With the publication of the Turjak charters, Slovenian historiography has gained an indispensable aid for the research of Slovenian medieval and modern history.
    Beschreibung: V Turjaški knjigi listin I (1218–1400) je objavljeno 277 listin iz zasebnih arhivov kranjske grofovske in knežje linije Turjaških (Auerspergov), ki so jih v sklopu grajskega arhiva do leta 1942 hranili na gradu Turjak, danes pa so shranjene izven slovenskega ozemlja. Listine so objavljene v celoti, opremljene so s slovenskimi regesti, ob koncu pa sledijo še obsežno imensko kazalo in slike pečatov z listin. Pripravljena izdaja turjaških listin sega do leta 1400 in je prvi del serije, v kateri bodo v končni fazi objavljene vse, tudi novoveške turjaške listine. Slovensko zgodovinopisje bo z objavo turjaških listin pridobilo nepogrešljiv pripomoček za raziskovanje slovenske srednjeveške in novoveške zgodovine.

Zum Preisträger: Sir Ian Kershaw wurde 1943 in Oldham, Lancashire, geboren. Er studierte in Liverpool und Oxford. Nach Tätigkeiten an den Universitäten Manchester, Bochum und Nottingham lehrte er bis zu seiner Emeritierung 2008 als Professor für moderne Geschichte an der Universität Sheffield. Sir Ian Kershaw ist Träger des Bundesverdienstkreuzes.

    Beschreibung: From March 16-19, 2016, the Young Romance Studies Forum on "Center and Periphery" took place at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg. In this volume, the dialectical concepts of center and periphery are examined from the perspectives of literary, linguistic, and cultural studies. Their relevance in Romania is examined in the individual contributions on the basis of geographical, spatial, historical, social, and linguistic aspects, in order to include different approaches and methods of analysis. In addition to a heterogeneous approach to the dimensions of the conceptual pair, the volume offers a structured presentation of the individual phenomena studied. The two thematic blocks focus, on the one hand, on diverse literary studies considerations of the dichotomy of the conceptual pair, and, on the other hand, on linguistic conceptions of center and periphery. Thus, new perspectives on both central and peripheral phenomena in Romance studies are opened up, on the one hand by presenting the range of (traditional) centers and peripheries, and on the other hand by referring to current discussions in the context of the two concepts.

Many who had believed in the success of the revolution were bitterly disappointed by the actual developments. Once again, a revolution had not been able to achieve what many had expected, even longed for. The revolutionary uprising of February 1917 ended with its corruption in October of the same year. On the basis of an analytical comparative model, Frank Jacob addresses the question of the process of this corruption and shows whether it was due to an inevitable development of events or rather to the will to power of a few.
    Beschreibung: Die Russische Revolution von 1917, die in Wirklichkeit aus mehreren Erhebungen bestand, bildet die Zäsur zwischen »langem« 19. und »kurzem« 20. Jahrhundert und leitete das sogenannte »Zeitalter der Extreme« (Eric Hobsbawm) ein. Viele, die an den Erfolg der Revolution geglaubt hatten, wurden von den tatsächlichen Entwicklungen bitter enttäuscht. Wieder einmal war eine Revolution nicht dazu in der Lage gewesen, das zu erreichen, was von vielen erwartet, ja herbeigesehnt wurde. Die revolutionäre Erhebung des Februar 1917 endete mit ihrer Korrumpierung im Oktober desselben Jahres. Frank Jacob widmet sich auf Basis eines analytischen Vergleichsmodells der Frage nach dem Prozess dieser Korrumpierung und zeigt, ob diese einer zwangsläufigen Entwicklung der Ereignisse oder vielmehr dem Machtwillen einiger weniger geschuldet war.

Die transareal angelegte Vorlesung will versuchen, nach der (verlorenen) Einheit der Aufklärung und nach den transatlantisch verflochtenen Geschichten des 18. Jahrhunderts im Bewusstsein der Vielgestaltigkeit aufklärerischer Diskurse zwischen zwei Welten, Europa und Amerika, zu fragen. Gab es eine Aufklärung oder gab es deren viele? Mit einem deutlichen Schwerpunkt innerhalb der Romania will die Vorlesung ein Verständnis dafür wecken, auf welche Weise im „Siècle des Lumières“ inter- und transkulturelle Kontakte und Beziehungen im Bereich von Literatur, Philosophie und Kultur funktionierten und wie die literarischen Räume der Aufklärung transatlantisch in Bewegung gerieten. Ziel der Vorlesung ist es, aus vergleichender Sicht monokulturelle Bilder der Aufklärung wie der entstehenden Moderne zu hinterfragen.

    Beschreibung: Die anhaltende Präsenz von Engeln in der Moderne wurde oft auf ein gesteigertes Trostbedürfnis zurückgeführt. Die Engelsfigur ist aber nicht bloß statisches Überbleibsel einer verlorenen Glaubensgewissheit. Vielmehr steht sie in einer produktiven Beziehung zu zentralen geschichtsphilosophischen, politischen und medienästhetischen Fragen der Zeit. Die vorliegende Studie geht den Zusammenhängen zwischen Engelsfigur und Moderne-Diskurs entlang eines Spannungsbogens nach, der von Reflexionen eines metaphysischen Exils Anfang des 20. Jahrhunderts über die Zuspitzung existentieller Bedrohung im Ersten und Zweiten Weltkrieg bis zum Undarstellbarkeitstopos des Holocaust verläuft. Dabei wird deutlich, dass der Engel auf vielfache Weise als Verursacher und gleichzeitig als zukunftsgerichteter Überwinder moderner Formen des Exils auftritt – als Figur, die geschichtsphilosophische Brüche herbeiführt und individualbiographische Traumata sichtbar macht; die die moderne Deformation des Menschen illustriert und wahlweise zu heilen oder voranzutreiben versucht; und die schließlich neue politische Ordnungen entwirft und sie als ästhetische Metalepse bereits in der Exilgegenwart veranschaulicht.

    Beschreibung: The text-critical edition Turjaška knjiga listin II [Turjak Book of Charters II], containing 436 published documents from the 15th century, completes the medieval corpus of charters from the private archives of the Carniolan comital and ducal lines of the Auerspergs. Published in their entirety, the charters are equipped with Slovenian regests and followed in the end by a comprehensive index of names and pictures of seals from the charters.The Auerspergs [Turjaški] are among the rare noble families in the Slovenian territory with systematically preserved archives that date back to the Middle Ages. Most archival materials of the family, which was largely embedded in the framework of the Province of Carniola until the end of the 15th century, are presently kept in two private family archives: the Turjak Comital Fideicomiss Archives (Gräflich Auersperg'sches Fideikommisarchiv), first kept in the Turjak Castle until 1942 and now in the Carinthian Provincial Archives in Klagenfurt, and the Turjak Ducal Archives (Fürstlich Auersperg'sches Archiv), which were first moved to the Turjak Palace in Ljubljana and the Lower Austrian Lösensteinleiten Castle and finally ended up in the Viennese Haus-, Hof-, und Staatsarchiv.
    Beschreibung: Tekstno-kritična edicija s 436 objavljenimi dokumenti iz 15. stoletja zaključuje srednjeveški korpus listin iz zasebnih arhivov kranjske grofovske in knežje linije Turjaških (Auerspergov), ki so jih v sklopu grajskega arhiva do leta 1942 hranili na gradu Turjak, danes pa so shranjene izven slovenskega ozemlja. Listine so objavljene v celoti, opremljene so s slovenskimi regesti, ob koncu pa sledijo še obsežno imensko kazalo in slike pečatov z listin.

Das Modell ist Grundlage eines Machine-Learning- Trainings, mit Hilfe dessen ein Tool trainiert wurde, das Ausdrücke, die in die Kategorien des theoriebasierten Modells fallen, automatisch erkennt und annotiert. In einem Kernkorpus aus 100 Romanen aus vier Jahrhunderten (18-21) wurden mit Hilfe dieses Tools mehr als eine Million Annotationen in die Texte eingefügt und anschließend analysiert.

    Beschreibung: The first Habsburg estates in Carniola were part of territorial acquisitions in eastern Alpine lands that the ascending dynasty obtained in the war with King Ottokar II of Bohemia towards the end of the thirteenth century and then gradually expanded. Even though the Habsburg dynastic territory had by the 1380s covered almost the entire Carniola, the economic base (landed property, which provided the provincial prince with regular income) was considerably limited. A sizeable portion of the territory was burdened by fiefs and pledges. The redemption of one of the vastest sets of pledged estates in the mid-1430s led to the emergence of account books for the following Carniolan fiscal properties: Kamnik, Gamberk, Goričane, Ig, Višnja Gora, Štatenberk, Novo mesto, Kostanjevica with offices Raka and Vivodina, Pazin, Završje, and Vranja. The account books serve as an extraordinary source for the economic history of the late Middle Ages, by also reflecting the turbulent period of the Habsburg European-wide ascendancy and Frederick’s war with the Counts of Celje. The volume constitutes a critical edition of the account books, with the accompanying discussion in the field of property, administrative and political history.
    Beschreibung: Zametki habsburške posesti na Kranjskem sodijo v sklop ozemeljskih pridobitev v vzhodnoalpskih deželah, ki jih je vzpenjajoča se dinastija iztržila iz bojev s češkim kraljem Otokarjem II. Přemyslom proti koncu 13. stoletja in so jih kasneje še razširili. Čeprav je v okvir habsburškega dinastičnega teritorija že v osemdesetih letih 14. stoletja spadal večji del kranjskega ozemlja, pa je bil gospodarski temelj (posest, ki je prinašala dohodke) bistveno manjši. Dobršen del ozemlja so bremenili fevdi in zastave. Ob sprostitvi enega od obsežnejših sklopov zastavljene posesti sredi tridesetih let 15. stoletja so nastali obračuni kranjskih komornih gospostev, in sicer za gospostva: Kamnik, Gamberk, Goričane, Ig, Višnja Gora, Štatenberk, Novo mesto, Kostanjevica z uradoma Raka in Vivodina, Pazin, Završje in Vranja. Obračuni predstavljajo izjemen vir za gospodarsko zgodovino poznega srednjega veka, obenem pa se v njih zrcali razgibano obdobje habsburškega evropskega vzpona in Friderikove vojne s celjskimi grofi. Knjiga prinaša tekstnokritično edicijo obračunov s spremljajočo uvodno razpravo s področja posestne, upravne in politične zgodovine.

    Beschreibung: As in all medieval cities, writing became increasingly important in Hamburg in the course of the later Middle Ages. In addition to the creation of various city books, there was a growing need to safely store the originals of important documents. These were collected in the so-called Threse, which soon formed a separate section of the emerging municipal archive. Although the holdings in the Hamburg State Archives are largely complete (with the exception of some losses due to the Second World War, among other things), the indexing by Johann Martin Lappenberg, which took place after the fire in Hamburg City Hall in 1842, still forms the basis for working with the material today. A comprehensive scholarly reappraisal remained a desideratum for a long time.

    Beschreibung: Neznano in pozabljeno iz 18. stoletja na Slovenskem [The Unknown and Forgotten from the 18th-Century Slovenian Territory] is the first monograph written by the Slovenian Society of 18th Century Studies and presents the less known phenomena and aspects of the 18th-century Slovenian territory. The monograph was compiled by twenty-three Slovenian and international authors whose contributions discuss numerous areas spanning general, cultural, music, art and literary history. It is divided into several chapters. The introduction, containing the presentation of the Slovenian provinces in the 18th century, serves as the basic starting point and is followed by chapters “Pravna, upravna in cerkvena zgodovina” [“Legal, Administrative and Ecclesiastical History”], “Umetnost in obrt” [“Art and Crafts”], “Kulturna in socialna zgodovina” [“Cultural and Social History”] and “Jezikoslovje” [“Linguistics”]. The monograph, which was published in digital form, is also distinguished by rich pictorial content.
    Beschreibung: Neznano in pozabljeno iz 18. stoletja na Slovenskem je prva monografija Slovenskega društva za preučevanje 18. stoletja. V njej so predstavljeni manj znani pojavi in vidiki 18. stoletja na Slovenskem. Pri nastanku monografije je sodelovalo 23 slovenskih in tujih avtorjev, ki so s prispevki posegli na številna področja, od obče in kulturne do glasbene, umetnostne in literarne zgodovine. Monografija je razdeljena na več poglavij. Uvodu, v katerem so kot splošno izhodišče predstavljene slovenske dežele v 18. stoletju, sledijo še poglavja Pravna, upravna in cerkvena zgodovina, Umetnost in obrt, Kulturna in socialna zgodovina ter Jezikoslovje. Monografijo, ki je izšla v elektronski obliki, odlikuje tudi bogato slikovno gradivo.

    Beschreibung: In the years 1738/39, Gottsched was mostly concerned with two events: his departure from the “Deutsche Gesellschaft” which he had been heading and the resulting developments, and the continuation of his disputes on the philosophy of Christian Wolff which he had been conducting with the Lutheran-Orthodox theologians. Through the support of the influential Imperial Count Ernst von Manteuffel, Gottsched now acquired strong political backing. This is documented by 52 of the total of 204 letters published in this volume, a correspondence in which Mrs Gottsched also soon became involved. The letters of other correspondents also deal with Wolff’s rationalist philosophy, as well as other very varied themes such as theater, teaching of the German language in schools, the problems of Leipzig students, newspaper polemics, planned translation projects and the competing editions of the writings of Martin Opitz, the “father of German poetry”, that were undertaken in Leipzig and Zurich.

    Beschreibung: The Bela Peč (Weißenfels) dominion, which encompassed with the exception of the Dovje (Lengenfeld) and Koroška Bela (Kärntner Vellach) the entire area of the Upper Sava Valley, was formed as an independent economic and administrative unit in the middle of the 15th century. The living of the dominion was defined especially by the Alpine world with specific climatic conditions and extensive iron ore deposits. The book contains the edition of two oldest domain urbarium from 1498 and 1636, which offer an excellent economic, demographic and social image of domain, where agrarian and non-agrarian production intensively intertwine. As such it is an interesting starting point for possible further comparative studies not only for the area of present-day Slovenia, but also for the wider eastern Alpine region and Friuli. The edition is accompanied by an extensive study.
    Beschreibung: Gospostvo Bela Peč, ki je z izjemo Dovjega in Koroške Bele obsegalo območje Zgornjesavske doline, se je kot samostojna gospodarska in upravna enota izoblikovalo šele sredi 15. stoletja. Življenje v gospostvu sta zaznamovali zlasti visokogorski alpski svet ter s tem povezane specifične klimatske razmere ter bogata nahajališča železove rude. V monografiji sta objavljena najstarejša urbarja gospostva iz 1498 in 1636. Objavljena vira ponujata odlično gospodarsko, demografsko in družbeno sliko gospostva, kjer se intenzivno prepletata agrarna in neagrarna produkcija. Kot tako predstavlja zanimivo izhodišče za morebitne nadaljnje primerjalne študije ne samo za prostor današnje Slovenije ampak tudi za širši vzhodnoalpski prostor ter Furlanijo. Izdajo spremlja obsežna spremna študija.

Delo pred vami temelji na 89 evidentiranih zbirkah listin iz 62 različnih arhivov in več kot 300 kodeksih ter spisih iz slovenskih, avstrijskih, italijanskih, hrvaških, madžarskih, nemških in čeških arhivov ter knjižnic. Dopolnjeni in elaborirani sta bili tudi v prvi izdaji zapostavljeni gesli Ljubljana in Škofja Loka. Odpravljene so bile vse ugotovljene napake in dodatno identificirane nekatere doslej še nerazrešene lokacije. Pri novih geslih je bila upoštevana nekoliko nadgrajena metodologija. To se odraža v občutno bogatejšem kontekstu – širšem citatu iz originalnega vira, v katerem se pojavlja paleonim. Kjer je le možno, je ta po novem obsežnejši in prinaša celostnejše informacije o nepremicninah, osebah in dogodkih, povezanih z zadevno lokacijo.

Dabei handelt es sich um Themen, die in der Jansson-Forschung bis anhin vergleichsweise wenig Beachtung fanden. Dies erstaunt vor allem in Anbetracht des viel beschworenen material turn, dessen Fokus auf Aspekte der Materialität in zahlreichen Disziplinen Einzug gehalten hat. Diese unterschiedlichen Konzepte von Materialität lassen sich letztlich zu einem materiellen Ethos ausweiten, welches Janssons Handeln als Künstlerin genuin zugrunde liegt und ihre herausragende Stellung auf eine neue Art zementiert.

    Beschreibung: Dass die römischen Dichter poetischer Kleinformen (also vor allem Lyrik, Elegie und Epigramm) von Catull bis Ovid auf griechische Modelle rekurrierten, die mehr als ein halbes Jahrtausend vor der eigenen Zeit und unter völlig anderen politischen und gesellschaftlichen Verhältnissen entstanden sind, ist für die Klassische Philologie eine selbstverständliche und auf den ersten Blick wenig aufregende Tatsache. Die Forschung des 20. Jahrhunderts interessierte sich vornehmlich für die formale und ästhetische Dimension dieses Aneignungsprozesses: Horaz lernte gewissermaßen durch das gründliche Studium von Sappho und Alkaios, wie man gute lyrische Gedichte schrieb. With this volume, the first biography of Georg Hermann Stoltz (1845-1939) is available. It provides valuable insights into the life of a man who, as a successful merchant and company founder in Brazil and Hamburg, has rendered outstanding services to relations between South America and Europe. The biography was written by Hans Joachim Schröder; it is the 21st volume in the series "Mäzene für Wissenschaft" published by the Hamburg Scientific Foundation. in many respects, Georg Hermann Stoltz is a typical representative of the group of Hamburg patrons who established the Hamburgische Wissenschaftliche Stiftung with their donations in 1907, thus enabling the foundation of the Hamburg University twelve years later: Like most others, he worked as an overseas merchant. Like some of the other members of the group, he built up extensive trade between South America, especially between Brazil and Hamburg. In the course of his long life he thus became a pioneer of German-Brazilian relations. His wealth allowed him to establish a generous residence in Wentorf near Hamburg and a foundation in Lüneburg, where he attended school at the Johanneum. In all this he became the ancestor of a large family that is still alive today.

    Beschreibung: 20 Jahre nach den NATO-Luftangriffen auf Serbien im Rahmen des Kosovokrieges eröffnet Elisa Satjukow den Blick auf die »andere Seite« dieser Intervention. Anhand bisher unerschlossener Dokumente fragt sie nach den Erfahrungen, Emotionen und Erinnerungen der serbischen Gesellschaft unter den Bedingungen von Bomben und Ausnahmezustand im Frühjahr 1999. Dabei zeigt sie, dass die NATO-Intervention nicht nur eine Schlüsselerfahrung der Milosevic-Ära darstellt: Bis heute bildet der völkerrechtswidrige Einsatz einen umkämpften Erinnerungsort für Serbien, das zwischen Russland und Europa, zwischen Opfertum und Heroismus, zwischen Nationalismus und Demokratie seinen Weg sucht.

    Beschreibung: Publishing medieval charters for Slovenian history is a long-term effort. The first four volumes were still published in the days of the pioneer of the project, Franc Kos (in the period 1902–1915), with the fifth book, published by his son Milko Kos, following somewhat later on. It was only in 2002 that France Baraga published, on the basis of the collected materials, the Central Catalogue of Medieval Charters of Dr. Božo Otorepec from the Milko Kos Historical Institute of ZRC SAZU, the sixth volume of medieval charters encompassing a relatively short period of ten years, 1246–1255. The volume appeared without an index of names, the publication of which has been postponed until today.This book therefore contains an accurate explanatory index of personal and place names, thus completing Baraga’s edition of 295 medieval charters.The book comes with a CD Gradivo za slovensko zgodovino v srednjem veku. 6/1 – Listine 1246–1255. 6/2 – Imensko kazalo [Materials for Slovenian Medieval History. 6/1 – Charters 1246 – 1255. 6/2 – Index of names] and both books in pdf-format.
    Beschreibung: Izdajanje srednjeveških listin za slovensko zgodovino je delo, ki nastaja na zelo dolg rok. Prve štiri knjige so bile izdane še za življenja začetnika projekta Franca Kosa (v obdobju 1902–1915), peta knjiga, ki jo je izdal njegov sin Milko Kos, pa je že nekoliko bolj oddaljena (1928). Šele leta 2002 je France Baraga na podlagi zbranega gradiva, Centralnega kataloga srednjeveških listin dr. Boža Otorepca z Zgodovinskega inštituta Milka Kosa ZRC SAZU, objavil šesti zvezek srednjeveških listin, ki zajema relativno kratko desetletno obdobje 1246–1255. Zvezek je izšel brez imenskega kazala, katerega izid se je zavlekel do sedaj.

    Beschreibung: Die Konzepte ,Schreiben' und ,Lesen' unterschieden sich im Altisländischen in vielen Aspekten. Es gab unterschiedliche Sprachen, Schriftsysteme, Materialien, Textsorten, Stimmen und Rahmen. Die involvierten Personen agierten als Schreiber, Verfasser, Leser, Zuhörer oder Auftraggeber. Dem gegenüber stehen verschiedene Verben wie rita, rista, skrifa, dikta, setja saman, lesa oder sjá, die auf spezifische Aspekte referieren. Für die Erforschung der mittelalterlichen Schriftlichkeit ist es deshalb grundlegend, diese Konzepte zu kennen. Trotzdem gab es bisher nur punktuelle Analysen einzelner Aspekte, Lexeme, Texte und Textstellen. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht den Wortschatz erstmals in einem grösseren Textkorpus, das drei zentrale Quellentexte für die mittelalterliche isländische Schriftkultur umfasst. Die Konzepte werden mithilfe der syntagmatischen Relationen analysiert, welche die semantischen Strukturen auf der Ausdrucksseite abbilden. Dies ermöglicht eine systematische Betrachtung der Konzepte und der verschiedenen Aspekte der mittelalterlichen isländischen Schriftlichkeit.

    Beschreibung: Of the 218 letters, 126 belong to correspondence with the Imperial Count Ernst Christoph von Manteuffel, a dedicated patron of the supporters of Christian Wolff and the head of the Berlin chapter of the Society of Alethophiles. In Berlin and Leipzig great hopes were placed in the Prussian heir apparent Friedrich II, whom many saw a kind of Platonian "philosopher king" who would help elevate reason and Wolffian philosophy to new heights. The letters document the development of a rationalistic strain in Gottsched's sermons. They also provide insight into the satires of Wolff's opponents written by L.A.V. Gottsched. Gottsched's speeches concerning Martin Opitz and the "book printing anniversary" (Buchdruckjubiläum) found strong resonance in the correspondence and inspired letters concerning similar undertakings. Jakob Brucker's letters illuminate the planning and creation of the "Bilder-sal", a contemporary history of notable scholars that featured biographies and portraits, and which came to include Gottsched and his wife.
