    Description: Technology and artificial intelligence are among the hottest topics in contemporary theology. How can theology contribute to technology and AI? The discourse on technology is charged with religious motifs, and technologies such as robots challenge theology, e.g. B. the image of man, ethics and religious practice, re-emerged. The anthology explores the pressing issues of our time from a theological perspective. To this end, theology enters into dialogue with the technical sciences. The changes in the image of man through robots, religious robots, optimization of the body, medical technologies, auto-regulatory weapon systems and how theology is transformed by technologization are examined. From an interdisciplinary perspective, new research results from the international arena are presented and new paths are explored.

    Description: Technik und Künstliche Intelligenz gehören zu den brisanten Themen der gegenwärtigen Theologie. Wie kann Theologie zu Technik und KI beitragen? Der Technikdiskurs ist aufgeladen mit religiösen Motiven, und Technologien wie Roboter fordern die Theologie, z. B. das Menschenbild, die Ethik und die religiöse Praxis, neu heraus. Der Sammelband erforscht aus theologischer Perspektive die drängenden Themen unserer Zeit. Dazu begibt sich die Theologie in Dialog mit den Technikwissenschaften. Untersucht werden die Veränderungen des Menschenbildes durch Roboter, Religiöse Roboter, Optimierung des Körpers, medizinische Technologien, Autoregulative Waffensysteme und wie die Theologie durch die Technologisierung transformiert wird. Aus interdisziplinärer Perspektive werden neue Forschungsergebnisse aus dem internationalen Raum vorgestellt und neue Wege beschritten.

    Description: According to the thesis of the study, Descartes' redefinition of rational discourses implies the systematically justified exclusion of theological from the field of natural rationality and its interpretation as irrational, only fideistic opinions. This also means the exclusion of transcendence from the field of possible rational discourses and has the consequence that the concept of 'God', as Descartes uses it at central points in his argumentation, can no longer be meant in the theistic-theological sense. It must therefore be stripped and purified of its theological implications and reduced to what it can still mean as mere ontological vocabulary. The study combines a historical view of the historical embedding of central Cartesian doctrines in the discussions of their time with a systematic analysis of those aspects that make meaningful talk of transcendence impossible and must therefore be understood as 'naturalistic'.

Das bedeutet auch die Ausschließung von Transzendenz aus dem Feld möglicher rationaler Diskurse und hat zur Folge, dass der ‚Gottes‘-Begriff, wie Descartes ihn an zentralen Stellen seiner Argumentation verwendet, nicht mehr im theistisch-theologischen Sinne gemeint sein kann. Er muss daher von seinen theologischen Implikationen befreit und gereinigt sowie auf das reduziert werden, was er, als bloß ontologische Vokabel, noch bedeuten kann. Die Studie verbindet den historischen Blick auf die ideengeschichtliche Einbettung zentraler cartesischer Lehrgehalte in die Diskussionen ihrer Zeit mit der systematischen Analyse jener Aspekte, die eine sinnvolle Rede von Transzendenz unmöglich machen und insofern als ‚naturalistisch‘ verstanden werden müssen.

    Description: Anthropology clarifies the vital conditions of bodily existence, which is why the relationship between humans and their bodies is the focus. In this volume Jens Heise compares two descriptions of man in the context of different anthropological, historical and cultural attitudes. In Plessner's anthropology, the principle of the unfathomable should apply universally and at the same time guarantee that in the most diverse answers to the question about man, what man is remains open. The ethics of the Japanese philosopher Watsuji (1889-1960) is a description of the human being that distinguishes itself from European modernism and philosophical anthropology. Watsuji wants to show that in East Asian cultures, existence is revealed through space and corporeality presents itself as a social body.

Im vorliegenden Band vergleicht Jens Heise zwei Beschreibungen des Menschen im Kontext unterschiedlicher anthropologischer, geschichtlicher und kultureller Einstellungen. In Plessners Anthropologie soll das Prinzip der Unergründlichkeit universell gelten und zugleich garantieren, dass in den unterschiedlichsten Antworten auf die Frage nach dem Menschen offenbleibt, was der Mensch ist. Die Ethik des japanischen Philosophen Watsuji (1889-1960) ist eine Beschreibung des Menschen, die sich gegen europäische Moderne und Philosophische Anthropologie abgrenzt. Watsuji will zeigen, dass sich Existenz in den ostasiatischen Kulturen über den Raum erschließt und Leiblichkeit sich als sozialer Körper präsentiert.

    Description: Theology is the science of the incomprehensible. Understood as an independent university discipline, it offers multifaceted perspectives that require not only an interdisciplinary but also an epistemological balancing act. Scientific theology in this sense is always exchange, reflection, encounter, and positioning as well as a form of transcendence. In thirteen contributions, the international authors shed light on the phenomenon of theology as an independent scientific discipline from different disciplinary, but also epistemological and religious points of view, which always oscillates between tradition, its own reflexivity and its relation to the world. The common characteristic feature is the border crossing along the intangible. The volume was produced in the context of the DFG-funded Research Training Group 1728 Theology as Science at the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main.
