    Description: This work presents methods for using the ceramic glow plug as a sensor element. This means that the ceramic glow plug will not only perform its conventional task as a heating element but will also provide information, such as motor speed, from the combustion chamber as a sensor. The main focus will be on the change in resistance, particularly under the influence of a temperature change, in the immediate vicinity of the ceramic glow plug.

    Description: The quasi-n-level operation of the flying capacitor converter (FCCs) is an optimized operation mode of a multilevel converter. The quasi-n-level operation of a multilevel converter was presented with an analysis of its advantages and disadvantages. For the Q2LB of the FCC, the theory as well as the control, modulation and balancing algorithms are presented. A medium voltage prototype was built to validate the theory.

    Description: A fundamental requirement for future automated vehicles is that curbs and other bumps in the road can be driven over safely, reliably and accurately. This work presents a concept for a model-based, predictive longitudinal vehicle dynamics control. It demonstrates in practice how the knowledge of the road profile ahead can be used to both increase the control performance and improve the driving comfort.

    Description: This work presents a physically motivated model for predicting the current/voltage behavior of PEM fuel cells. Extensive impedance measurements and DRT analyses were used to identify and quantify all loss processes. The developed model was successfully validated and provides insights into the internal processes of the fuel cell. It enables targeted optimization and shows great potential for increasing the performance of PEM fuel cells.

    Description: The approach of a laser scanning headlamp for adaptive light functions includes six laser sources which are deviated on a micro mirror. The oscillation of that mirror generates an extended light distribution on a white light converter which is then projected on the road.     Description: The simulation of ceramic phosphors by means of the diffusion approximation of the radiation transport equation is extended from rotationally symmetrical cases to general, three-dimensional problems. The phosphor is simulated with the diffusion approximation for a temporal and spacial variable laser light source for the first time. Therefore, different laser light sources are being compared to evaluate, which one of the alternatives is best suited for the intended use in an automotive head lamp.

A disadvantage, however, is the need for high sampling rates, which is exactly the starting point of the frequency comb OFDM radar scheme. With its help, the bandwidth in the radar channel can be enhanced without increasing the sampling rates at the same time. In this way, a high range resolution can be achieved without using fast converters with high sampling rates.

    Description: In this work describes the development of a light-based driver assistance system through projections on the road. Under realistic conditions it is shown that information can be transmitted to the driver at night by using projections in front of the vehicle: test persons drive more safely through narrow spaces and react earlier to obstacles. A prototype suitable for road use demonstrates the possibility of a near-series implementation of such a headlamp projection system.

    Description: In this work, two methods are developed and evaluated to integrate and test functional chains of automotive lighting functions on simulation-based test systems. The focus is initially on an approach for the efficient use of light for the display of high contrasts in virtual night driving with a real driver assistance camera. Furthermore, a test method is developed to evaluate pixel-based lighting functions on a hardware-in-the-loop test system based on metrics. In this work, two methods to stimulate and test automotive front lighting functions on simulation-based test benches are developed and evaluated. The first approach deepens the idea to reach necessary high contrasts for virtual night driving with a real driver assistance camera by an efficient use of reflecting light. Furthermore, a test method is shown to test pixel-based lighting functions based on metrics on a hardware-in-the-loop test bench.

Moreover, theoretical conditions on the system state are derived that ensure the persistent excitation property, which is crucial for the convergence of the adaptation. Real-world applications of the presented adaptive optimal trajectory tracking control methods reveal their potential.

    Description: Gegenstand der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die partielle einstufige Oxidation von Propan zu Acrylsäure an einem oxidischen Multikomponentenkatalysator mit der Zusammensetzung Mo1V0,33Nb0,17Te0,25Ox. In der vorliegenden Arbeit stehen zwei Gesichtspunkte im Mittelpunkt: grundlegende Untersuchungen zur Reaktionskinetik und die in-situ Charakterisierung des Katalysators unter Betriebsbedingungen mittels Festkörperelektrolypotentiometrie.Die Reaktion sollte mit Hilfe eines möglichst einfachen Reaktionsnetzes und einfacher kinetischer Ansätze qualitativ und quantitativ beschrieben werden. Dabei war neben dem Einfluss der Temperatur, der Einfluss der Eingangsmolenbrüche von Propan, Sauerstoff und Wasser zu untersuchen und zu quantifizieren.Parallel wurde der Einfluss der Gasphasenzusammensetzung auf die Sauerstoffaktivität unter Betriebsbedingungen untersucht. Dabei wurde erwartet mit Hilfe der simultanen potentiometrischen und kinetischen Messungen Rückschlüsse auf die Wirkungsweise des Katalysators ziehen zu können.

Um ihre Bildung näher verstehen und in größerem Maßstab (scale up) durch geeignete Auswahl von Kultivierungsparametern beeinflussen zu können, wird ein mathematisches Modell entwickelt, welches das Wachstum und die Produktbildung einer einzelligen Mikroalge Porphyridium purpureum abbildet.Die Validierung des entwickelten mathematischen Modells erfolgt durch den Einsatz von geeigneten experimentell gewonnenen Kultivierungsdaten der Mikroalge Porphyridium purpureum in Abhängigkeit von Kultivierungsparametern wie der Lichtquantität oder -qualität in einem am Institut für Mechanische Verfahrenstechnik und Mechanik entwickelten Photobioreaktor. Die experimentellen Untersuchungen zu Wachstum und Produktbildung der Mikroalge sowie die Modellierung ihrer Stoffwechselaktivität zur besseren Vorhersagbarkeit und zur Auslegung von Pilotanlagen stellen die beiden Hauptschwerpunkte dieser Arbeit dar.

    Description: Bei der Herstellung von Molkepulver besteht die Schwierigkeit, dass die in dem Ausgangskonzentrat enthaltene gelöste Laktose während der Sprühtrocknung amorph erstarrt. Diese amorphe Form der Laktose ist instabil und kann bei zu feuchten oder warmen Bedingungen die Glasübergangstemperatur überschreiten und so klebrige Eigenschaften erhalten. Durch Nachkristallisationen konnten die Verbackungsneigungen der sprühgetrockneten laktosehaltigen Pulvern vermindert werden.

Hierzu zählt die Gasphasenhydrierung von Dimethylmaleat, der Davy-Prozess.Vorteile sind die milden Reaktionsbedingungen und die kombinierte Herstellung von 1,4-Butandiol mit den Folgeprodukten g-Butyrolacton und Tetrahydrofuran. Gegenstand der vorliegenden Arbeit war die gezielte Vermeidung von ungewollter Polymerbildung bei der einstufigen Prozessführung der Gasphasenhydrierung von Dimethylmaleat. Zudem wurden mit einem Cu/ZnO/Al2O3-Katalysator detaillierte kinetische Messungen durchgeführt und eine qualitative und quantitative Beschreibung der Reaktionskinetik mit Hilfe eines möglichst einfachen Reaktionsnetzes realisiert.

    Description: Inhalt dieser Arbeit ist die Entwicklung und Charakterisierung von Mikroreaktoren für die Kristallisation biologischer Makromoleküle, einem der Schlüsselprozesse in der aktuellen biotechnischen Forschung. Hauptziele waren die Bereitstellung neuartiger Technologieplattformen als kompakte wiederverwendbare Mikroreaktoren, deren physikalische und verfahrenstechnische Charakterisierung sowie die Überprüfung, inwieweit sich mikrostrukturierte Komponenten für den Einsatz in der Biokristallisation eignen. Die Entwicklung wurde hierbei in zwei Arbeitsabschnitte unterteilt: I) Batch-Mikroreaktor zur temperaturkontrollierten Kristallisation im Batch-Betrieb; II) Fluss-Mikroreaktor zur temperatur- und konvektionskontrollierten Kristallisation im kontinuierlichen Betrieb. Die thermische Charakterisierung der Mikroreaktoren umfasste die Analyse der Temperaturfelder und Erfassung dynamischer Parameter mithilfe von Pt-Dünnschichtsensoren und thermografischen Messungen. Die fluidischen Parameter wurden in Messungen zum Druckverlust, zur Verweilzeit- und Geschwindigkeitsverteilung ermittelt. 3D-FEM- bzw. CFD-Rechnungen dienten im Zuge der Designoptimierung zur Variantenstudie und Analyse experimentell unzugänglicher Bereiche. Experimente und Simulationen wurde anhand analytischer 1D-Modelle validiert. Untersuchungen zum temperaturkontrollierten Kristallwachstum von Modellproteinen zielten auf die Evaluierung des Mikroreaktorkonzepts und dessen Charakterisierung ab.Ein Ergebnis der Arbeit ist der Prototyp eines voll funktionsfähigen Batch-Mikroreaktors auf der Basis von Silizium-Mikrosystemtechnik und Dünnschichttechnologie zur temperaturkontrollierten Kristallisation kleiner Proteinmengen. Weiterhin gelang es durch Integration (mikro-) fluidischer Strukturen, das Mikroreaktorkonzept für den kontinuierlichen Betrieb zum Fluss-Mikroreaktor zu erweitern.
