    Description: Although laser cutting of metals is a well-established process, there is considerable potential for improvement with regard to various requirements for the manufacturing industry. First, this potential is identified and then it is shown how improvements could be made using machine learning. For this purpose, a database was generated. It contains the process parameters, RGB images, 3D point clouds and various quality features of almost 4000 cut edges.

    Description: Especially pedestrians rely on the interaction with other road users. The introduction of automated driving systems withdraws this communication from drivers and thus, vehicles need to interact with pedestrians. Therefore, multiple vehicle-pedestrian-communication concepts are evaluated. A driver intention prediction allows pedestrians to learn these newly introduced signals, while driver and vehicle communicate simultaneously.

    Description: The proposed method for the configuration of renewably powered energy supply systems as isolated grids backed by energy storage technology and based on statistical models shows the economic viability of such a system. The energy supply system was configured by implementing cost models using an optimization software. Validation was achieved through comparison with measurements taken from two different existing energy supply areas.

    Description: This work describes the novel use of broadband continuous diplexers that could be integrated into on-wafer probes to parallize millimeter wave on-wafer measurement equipment. A model-based method for the efficient design of diplexers with a large number of adjustable parameters allows the realization of a DC – 110 GHz – 170 GHz diplexer for the first time.

    Description: In einer rußenden pulsierten Methan-Luft Diffusionsflamme werden Rußkonzentration, Partikelzahldichte, -radius, -temperatur und OH*-Emission bestimmt. Die pulsierte Flamme zeigt transiente Effekte, erhöhte mittlere Rußkonzentrationen und Ablösung der Flammenspitze. Ein analytisches Modell beschreibt Flammenkontur, Ablösung der Flammenspitze und den asymmetrischen Verlauf der OH*-Emission. Eine numerische Analyse auf Basis der Flamelettheorie gibt die nichtlinearen Effekte der Rußbildung wieder.

    Description: High-temperature superconductors have distinct advantages compared to conventional conductors. Below their critical temperature, superconductors have immeasurably low ohmic losses. To maintain the superconducting state, superconductors require constant cooling. This study aims at identifying the environmental impacts of the application of superconductors in future grid technologies such as superconducting power cables.

    Description: In dieser Arbeit wurden Geschwindigkeitskonstanten für den thermischen Zerfall von NCN und Allylamin unter verbrennungsrelevanten Bedingungen untersucht. Zerfallsreaktionen stickstoffhaltiger Verbindungen spielen zum Beispiel bei der Stickoxidbildung in Verbrennungsprozessen eine Rolle. Die Experimente wurden an einem Stoßrohr durchgeführt, an das ein ARAS-Aufbau oder ein FM-Spektrometer gekoppelt wurde. Die erhaltenen Ergebnisse wurden mit Hilfe der statistischen Reaktionstheorie analysiert.

    Description: Powerline communications utilize the existing energy distribution network for information transmission. In this work, the low voltage grid is investigated as a transmission channel for frequencies up to 500 kHz. Based on characterizing the channel with regard to its cyclostationary properties, novel adaptive transmission methods are developed. The presented methods are evaluated under realistic channel conditions.
