    «Candide», «La fée carabine» et les autres (2021)

    Description: Les pratiques de lecture des élèves ont fait l’objet de recherches de grande ampleur. Mais que sait-on des pratiques d’enseignement ? Qu’est-ce qui se construit lorsque des enseignants et des élèves abordent un texte en classe ? Cet objet varie-t-il en fonction des textes ? De leur longueur ? De leur statut ? L’auteur a mené une recherche avec des enseignants qui ont étudié Candide de Voltaire et La fée Carabine de Pennac avec leurs élèves de 16 ans. Comment les enseignants s’y sont-ils pris dans cette entreprise complexe? Comment ont-ils assuré les liens entre les lectures réalisées à la maison et le travail en classe ? Certes, chaque enseignant s’y prend différemment. Mais un phénomène commun apparait: le recours à des genres d’activité scolaire pour appréhender différentes facettes des textes littéraires et assurer les liens entre le commentaire de texte et les lectures des élèves. Le chercheur trouvera dans cet ouvrage une démarche d’analyse systématique des interactions didactiques. L’enseignant y découvrira des modèles d’activités qui lui permettront de mieux comprendre ses pratiques et l’inspireront dans la conception d’activités futures.

    Les « Emblèmes » d’André Alciat (2021)

    Description: L’humaniste et juriste milanais André Alciat (1492-1550) est connu pour être le créateur de ce qui deviendra, au cours du XVIe siècle, le genre de l’emblème, caractérisé par sa structure tripartite (inscriptio, pictura, subscriptio). L’Emblematum liber, publié pour la première fois en 1531, réédité à de nombreuses reprises, augmenté de poèmes supplémentaires et de nouvelles illustrations durant le XVIe siècle, contient plus de 200 emblèmes. Le présent commentaire étudie un choix de 75 emblèmes consacrés aux animaux. L’introduction aborde les différentes problématiques en lien avec les emblèmes et offre une synthèse des principales observations tirées de l’analyse du corpus. Le commentaire adopte une forme adaptée à ce genre hybride : pour chaque poème, il présente un choix de gravures issues des principales éditions, afin de mesurer l’évolution des motifs et leur adéquation au texte, puis une traduction française en prose des épigrammes latines, suivie d’un commentaire mettant en évidence la structure de la subscriptio, ses procédés stylistiques, ses sources d’inspiration et son interprétation symbolique.

    Description: L’ampleur et l’exceptionnalité qui ont caractérisé le baby-boom ont concouru à en construire une représentation dénuée de nuances. L'ouvrage interroge alors l'hétérogénéité qui a caractérisé ce phénomène dans le contexte suisse. Dans une perspective de parcours de vie et en recourant à des méthodes mixtes, l'interrelation des trajectoires familiales et professionnelles des cohortes féminines est examinée au regard du système de valeurs promulgué dans la société suisse de l'époque pour montrer comment un phénomène d’ampleur a pu être le produit d’une diversité de parcours de vie. Si l'ouvrage se concentre sur la Suisse, le développement de l’approche méthodologique mixte qu'il propose offre un cadre d’analyse renouvelé, dont les apports pour la compréhension du baby-boom peuvent être transférer à divers contextes nationaux et à l'étude d'autres phénomènes démographiques.

    Yosano Akiko and The Tale of Genji (2021)

    Description: Yosano Akiko (1878–1942) has long been recognized as one of the most important literary figures of prewar Japan. Her renown derives principally from the passion of her early poetry and from her contributions to 20th-century debates about women. This emphasis obscures a major part of her career, which was devoted to work on the Japanese classics and, in particular, the great Heian period text The Tale of Genji. Akiko herself felt that Genji was the bedrock upon which her entire literary career was built, and her bibliography shows a steadily increasing amount of time devoted to projects related to the tale. This study traces for the first time the full range of Akiko’s involvement with The Tale of Genji. The Tale of Genji provided Akiko with her conception of herself as a writer and inspired many of her most significant literary projects. She, in turn, refurbished the tale as a modern novel, pioneered some of the most promising avenues of modern academic research on Genji, and, to a great extent, gave the text the prominence it now enjoys as a translated classic. Through Akiko’s work Genji became, in fact as well as in name, an exemplum of that most modern of literary genres, the novel. In delineating this important aspect of Akiko’s life and her bibliography, this study aims to show that facile descriptions of Akiko as a “poetess of passion” or “new woman” will no longer suffice.
