    Description: Nonostante l’Open Access, vale a dire la disponibilità libera e gratuita dei contenuti in internet, sia ormai un’iniziativa conosciuta, ci sono ancora idee molto confuse e interpretazioni erronee su alcune delle sue caratteristiche e sul suo funzionamento. In quest’opera, Ernest Abadal ha l’obiettivo di chiarire i dubbi e fraintendimenti più frequenti riguardo l’Open Access, presentando le basi teoriche di questo sistema, il ruolo delle riviste scientifiche e l’attitudine dei ricercatori, nonché una stima di quali siano le prospettive future. Questa guida si rivolge tanto agli accademici e ai dirigenti universitari, quanto agli editori e ai professionisti in ambito bibliotecario. L’edizione italiana è stata realizzata con la collaborazione di Maria Teresa Miconi, professoressa di Bibliografia e Biblioteconomia dell’Università di Macerata e riconosciuta esperta di Open Access. La prefazione è a cura di Giovanni Solimine, professore di Biblioteconomia all’Università di Roma La Sapienza, dove è anche presidente del Sistema bibliotecario di Ateneo e direttore della Scuola di Specializzazione in beni archivistici e librari.

    Description: This book comprises the contributions presented at the Study Day addressing technical and scientific innovation in Italy in the sectors of electricity and telecommunications, organised in the Faculty of Engineering of Florence University by AICT (Associazione per la Tecnologia dell'Informazione e delle Comunicazioni) and AEE (Associazione Energia Elettrica, of the AEIT Federation) in the framework of the celebrations marking the bicentenary of the birth of Antonio Meucci.     Description: The research is aimed at investigating the changes in the methods of "construction" of representations of the territory due to the communicative evolution of disciplinary statutes and to the increasingly stringent and widespread use of new information and communication technologies. It focuses its reflection on the field of representations intended to substantiate the local and territorial project dimension. The focus of the work is on the methodological value and possible process innovation, rather than on the simple description of an expert technical product. The emphasis is on the possible value of building knowledge of territorial representations (heritage elaborations or project scenarios) drawn up through collective action.

The first part of the book offers the contribution of workers, employees or managers who may also have negotiating roles in union bargaining, but who are above all committed to making everything work, offering opportunities that are able to regenerate processes and enhance workers. The second part contains reflections and proposals on how participation experiences can urge the academic world, trade unions, politics and the legislative system to deepen and take into account the new needs of work, in order to build a virtuous circle that supports companies and workers, management and participation in the complex challenges posed by innovation and the competitive world of production.

    Description: This volume, born from the collaboration of thirty-four scholars and trade union representatives, has a dual purpose. Firstly, to propose the analysis and theses on the human and political meaning of work contained in Bruno Trentin’s main book La città del lavoro (2nd ed., Firenze University Press, 2014), in the current phase of social transformations and theoretical uncertainties. Secondly, to promote a reflection testing the book’s fertility and topicality in order to deepen the processes at work at the start of the 21st century, in the belief that the pages written in 1997 by one of the greatest representatives of the history of the CGIL represent a 'classic' of the socio-political thought of the 20th century. The emerging result is surprising in many ways, and corresponds to the extraordinary richness of Trentin’s project, as well as to the political and trade-unionist ability of its author.     Description: Les contributions à ce volume répondent à la nécessité d’une réflexion sociologique sur la dimension, sous-estimée, des multiples voies de salut, courants ascétiques ou dévotionnels et « sectes », qui traversent la société indienne des castes. Elles sont autant d’interrogations sur la signification et les modalités de ce qu’est le » salut » dans la fabrique sociale indienne quant à la problématique sous-jacente exemplifiant la proposition banale qu’aucune société n ’existe, idéalement et pratiquement, en dehors des contradictions logiques et morales qui la fondent. Si bien que ces dernières relèvent, en définitive, de la ruse de la raison, ou plutôt des ruses du salut - l’idée du salut en tant qu’éthique universelle ne se définissant que dans la maîtrise toujours particulière et historique de ce monde et selon de multiples équilibres aléatoires qui peuvent tendre à confondre le ciel et la terre. Le présent, qui met en exergue la confusion parfois dramatique du religieux et du politique, est l’héritier de cette histoire des mentalités — de la jubilation des idées autant que des conflits — au cours de laquelle une civilisation, entre d’autres, a joué et joue son destin en misant à la fois sur la singularité et l’universel.

    Description: The volume collects the contributions presented at the XVII national congress of AIMETA. The contributions are grouped according to the various sectors of theoretical and applied mechanics and are offered by a vast scientific community. In addition to the classical sectors, themes of interdisciplinary significance and of considerable interest and highly innovative content were added, for the analysis of which small exchange symposia were proposed. Organised according to 52 sessions (plenary and parallel), the volume contains 290 scientific works that are mainly the result of international cooperation. Therefore, the work represents a significant picture of the current situation and future prospects for mechanics.

    Description: The volume collects the texts of the interventions held on December 17, 2004 in the Aula Magna of the University of Florence during the presentation of two volumes of the work published by Olschki publishing house “L'Università degli Studi di Firenze 1924-2004” (The University of Florence 1924-2004). After the introduction by the Rector Magnificus Augusto Marinelli, the work was discussed by historians Gian Paolo Brizzi and Paolo Prodi of the University of Bologna, Romano Paolo Coppini of the University of Pisa, and by professors Francesco Gurrieri and Sandro Rogari. The appendix of the volume contains a summary of the events organised in occasion of the eighty years anniversary, preceded by the introduction by Rector Augusto Marinelli and the index of the volumes.

    Description: In the XI-XIII centuries the monasteries experienced a bigger freedom from the interference of the dioceses and were able to benefit from the exemption to interact with the local dominant classes. This new dynamic in relationships had an impact on the transformations of both the ecclesiastical structures and the political and economic assets in the territory. The authors analyse the phenomenon from different points of view, always paying attention to the sources and addressing topics such as: the interventions of the papacy in order to influence the constitutional configuration of Orders and congregations; the forms of the documents issued for this purpose by the pontifical chancery; the intricate relations between the papacy, bishops and exempt monasteries; the relationships between the latter and local societies.
