    Beschreibung: The 43rd UID conference, held in Genova, takes up the theme of ‘Dialogues’ as practice and debate on many fundamental topics in our social life, especially in these complex and not yet resolved times. The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with ‘others’, which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, “dialogue” as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title ‘translated’ into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences.

    Beschreibung: L’Europe se construit. Depuis un demi-siècle, pas à pas, un nouvel environnement économique, un nouvel espace géographique, une nouvelle entité politique se dessinent. Parmi les lieux de mémoire dédiés à l’histoire récente de l’Europe, la Fondation Jean Monnet, à Lausanne, possède un certain nombre d’archives permettant de suivre, de mieux comprendre à travers des textes rares comment l’idée d’union européenne s’est retrempée au fil des années, y compris avant et pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Ses documents sont le noyau de l’ensemble que nous proposons. Les textes présentés dans ce volume essaient de donner un autre éclairage sur la « mécanique européenne ». L’angle choisi permet de montrer que la construction de l’Europe moderne ne fut pas forcément « technocratique », mais que, comme tout projet singulier, elle est le résultat de tâtonnements, d’hésitations, de conflits souvent aujourd’hui oubliés, et aussi d’un élan réel.

    Beschreibung: Comment un jeune garçon, né au début du xixe siècle dans une famille pauvre du Cambrésis, orphelin de père à trois ans, presque analphabète, promis à l’humble condition d’ouvrier tisserand, accèdera-t-il au pastorat et au statut de notable ? Parce qu’il était conscient du caractère exceptionnel de cet itinéraire, J.-B. Pruvot entreprit d’en retracer les étapes dans une Histoire de ma vie racontée à mes enfants. Il en évoque les moments importants, sa rencontre déterminante, à l’âge de l’adolescence, avec des prédicateurs évangélistes baptistes, dont le message le bouleverse, son ardent désir de prêcher un jour la « parole de Dieu », sa formation auprès de pasteurs américains à Douai, et enfin sa consécration comme pasteur baptiste en 1840, puis comme pasteur de l’église réformée de Verdun. Au-delà de ce témoignage personnel, qui s’étend sur toute une vie, car J.-B. Pruvot tint un journal jusqu’à sa mort en 1878, se profile toute une société en grande partie disparue, celle des petites gens des villages du Cambrésis, ouvriers-tisseurs, brodeurs, artisans-paysans, dans leur existence quotidienne, leurs combats contre la précarité, leurs affrontements, leurs solidarités ; on mesure le retentissement sur leurs destins des politiques qui se décident si loin d’eux : sous l’Empire le cauchemar du « tirage au sort » pour l’armée, les crises économiques, les guerres. De ce texte riche en notations concrètes, en anecdotes pittoresques, émane le sentiment d’une authenticité émouvante et savoureuse.

    Beschreibung: Charles Bonnier (1863-1926) est un personnage-clef du socialisme français et européen des années 1880 et 1890, un des plus proches amis de Jules Guesde, très lié aussi à Friedrich Engels, Eleanor Marx, Wilhelm Liebknecht... Les aléas de la vie universitaire l’amènent à vivre en France, en Allemagne et en Angleterre. Ses Souvenirs jusqu’à présent demeurés inédits ne se limitent cependant pas aux aspects politiques et idéologiques d’une vie de militant et de théoricien. Ils abondent en informations sur une société où s’entremêlent savoir universitaire et soucis de carrière, débats politiques, intellectuels et artistiques, des années 1870 à 1914. Après Lille, Templeuve et le Pévèle, revit le Paris des années 1880, celui des petites revues et des cabarets montmartrois vus par un amateur d’art et de littérature. Socialiste et marxiste, Charles Bonnier est également wagnérien enthousiaste. Il voyage en Allemagne et rêve de s’y établir. À Londres, Oxford et Liverpool, il continue à fréquenter aussi bien les milieux artistiques et littéraires qu’à militer en faveur du Parti ouvrier français et de l’Internationale. Marx et Mallarmé, Wagner et Manet : l’effervescence intellectuelle – et les drames – d’une époque troublée sont évoqués ici avec simplicité, humour et mélancolie.

    Beschreibung: Maître d’école et clerc paroissial de Silly-en-Multien, village de l’ancien diocèse de Meaux, présentement Silly-le-long dans l’Oise, Pierre Louis Nicolas Delahaye (1745-1805) a laissé un passionnant journal couvrant la période 1771-1792. L’« état des baptêmes, mariages et sépultures de la paroisse », agrémenté d’un livre de comptes, devenu au fil des années une véritable chronique de la vie de la communauté, offre une grande richesse documentaire sur la démographie, l’économie, la société, la vie religieuse, la culture matérielle et le quotidien d’une paroisse rurale en pays de grande culture au nord de Paris. L’atonie politique de l’Ancien Régime finissant, marqué par la succession monotone des jours et des saisons, fut interrompue par l’irruption des événements révolutionnaires, dont l’auteur, observateur sagace, témoin privilégié et acteur local, nous propose un récit très vivant, témoignant de la réception de la Révolution au village. Le journal révèle aussi le cheminement d’un personnage attachant, enraciné dans son siècle d’ombres et de Lumières, l’homme privé dans son environnement familial, professionnel et social, comme l’homme public, chrétien « patriote », confronté à la plus formidable accélération du « temps court » de notre histoire.

    Beschreibung: The 43rd UID conference, held in Genova, takes up the theme of ‘Dialogues’ as practice and debate on many fundamental topics in our social life, especially in these complex and not yet resolved times. The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with ‘others’, which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, “dialogue” as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title ‘translated’ into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences.

    Beschreibung: La Faculté des Lettres de Lille participe activement à la rénovation des études supérieures entreprises par les dirigeants de la Troisième République après 1880. Bien intégrée dans un véritable quartier latin lillois, elle connaît un développement important entre 1887 et 1914. La formation d’étudiants plus nombreux et l’accentuation de la recherche originale deviennent les deux missions fondamentales de l’institution qui n’en oublie pas pour autant la formation d’un citoyen actif et responsable. La première guerre mondiale vient compromettre sérieusement l’essor engagé. Au milieu des pires difficultés, une vie universitaire minimale réussit à se maintenir dans une ville saignée à blanc par l’occupant. De 1919 à 1939, la Faculté tente de retrouver l’esprit de novation qui l’animait avant-guerre mais une partie du dynamisme semble perdu. On reproduit surtout les structures anciennes même si l’institution connaît ensuite un nouvel essor de ses effectifs étudiants et enseignants. La seconde guerre mondiale, une nouvelle fois, vient briser l’élan. La Faculté doit alors vivre à l’heure allemande mais refuse de se compromettre. Sans entrer dans la résistance active, la plupart de ses membres refusent l’idée de collaboration et affirment, par leur travail, la survie de la culture française. En 1945, après les joies de la libération, une nouvelle reconstruction s’impose cependant.

    Beschreibung: The 43rd UID conference, held in Genova, takes up the theme of ‘Dialogues’ as practice and debate on many fundamental topics in our social life, especially in these complex and not yet resolved times. The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with ‘others’, which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, “dialogue” as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title ‘translated’ into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences.

Cette histoire prend en compte la diversité des composantes de la Catho, facultés, hôpitaux, instituts, écoles, centres de recherche et aussi de ses acteurs, fondateurs, autorités rectorales, administrateurs, enseignants, étudiants… en même temps que le souci de l’unité d’une institution, considérée comme un des lieux privilégiés de la confrontation de la foi et de la raison. Humaniste à la culture encyclopédique, c’est un gourmand et un gourmet. Disciple de Bergson, il analyse aussi finement le radicalisme que le traditionalisme de Barrès ou de Maurras. Enraciné dans sa Bourgogne natale, il est ouvert à bien des cultures. « Poilu de l’arrière » pacifique et patriote, il devient un européiste convaincu et un observateur non engagé de la vie politique et intellectuelle de la Troisième République. Fondée sur de nombreux articles et livres, de multiples correspondances et des inédits, cette biographie intellectuelle s’attache à montrer les divers aspects et apports d’un homme singulier, dont l’œuvre fragmentée est aussi célèbre par quelques formules que méconnue dans sa richesse et sa diversité. Thibaudet, liseur professionnel, parce qu’il est un extraordinaire agent de liaison entre littérature, histoire et philosophie, est aussi un jalon du renouveau de l’histoire politique et culturelle.

Moment fondateur pour la culture républicaine et pour les intellectuels, l’affaire Dreyfus ne cesse d’être invoquée et convoquée à gauche comme à l’extrême droite. Une dizaine d’études ainsi que la bibliographie du centenaire sont présentées ici, sous le patronage de Pierre Vidal-Naquet, avec le concours de la Ville d’Orléans, du centre Charles Péguy et de l’équipe Littérature et Histoire de la Faculté des Lettres d’Orléans. Les unes et les autres s’attachent à définir, en des contextes différents – à la Belle Époque, dans l’entre-deux-guerres ou pendant la guerre d’Algérie... –, les postérités intellectuelle et politique de l’Affaire. Modèle, symbole ou repoussoir, l’affaire Dreyfus se voit réinterprétée et reconstruite tout au long du siècle, d’abord par les hommes qui l’ont vécue puis par les générations suivantes ; objet d’histoire, certes, mais aussi enjeu de mémoire, référence morale, idéologique et opérateur politique, l’Affaire apparaît bien, ainsi que le pressentait Péguy, comme un véritable « revenant ».

    Beschreibung: The 43rd UID conference, held in Genova, takes up the theme of ‘Dialogues’ as practice and debate on many fundamental topics in our social life, especially in these complex and not yet resolved times. The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with ‘others’, which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, “dialogue” as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title ‘translated’ into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences.

    Beschreibung: Si l’histoire des décades de Pontigny nous restitue le rassemblement annuel, dans une abbaye bourguignonne redevenue laïque, des plus grands esprits européens, de Paul Valéry à Heinrich Mann, de Max Scheler à Paul Langevin, d’Alberto Moravia à André Malraux, elle révèle surtout les multiples facettes de ce lieu singulier, à mi-chemin d’un salon héritier des Lumières et d’un congrès scientifique tributaire des réseaux de l’Internationale Scientifique propre au xxe siècle. À la fois subtile université auprès de la jeunesse normalienne, refuge aristocratique réservé longtemps aux proches d’André Gide et de la NRF, cellule collective de réflexions consacrées à l’avenir de la SDN ou de l’école par des publicistes et des hommes politiques, les Décades, loin de tourner le dos au monde, tentèrent de le déchiffrer, guidées le plus souvent par la boussole du riche passé humaniste européen et de ses vertus de tolérance et d’esprit critique. Au carrefour de quelques-uns des dialogues essentiels où se nouait la question des relations catholiques et non-catholiques, entre Allemands et Français, entre Occident et Orient, Pontigny fut une des rares institutions intellectuelles médiatrices dans une époque traversée de conflits. Peut-être parce qu’en France, depuis Montaigne, le culte de la littérature, si bien organisé par les Décades, eut pour fonction non négligeable d’apaiser les esprits et d’exprimer le meilleur de la civilisation.

    Beschreibung: De 1568, année de son mariage à l’âge de 24 ans, jusqu’à son décès en 1626, soit 57 années durant sans la moindre interruption, le maître-charpentier rémois Jehan Pussot tient un journalier, d’abord pour lui-même et son entourage immédiat, puis dans l’espoir avoué d’instruire les générations futures. Son écriture, simple et directe, pudique et parfois ironique, mais jamais dénuée de bon sens, se densifie au fil des ans pour refléter l’élargissement constant des centres d’intérêt de notre artisan. Ainsi à la chronique initiale des événements familiaux et des conjonctures saisonnières, Pussot ajoute très tôt l’observation du cortège sans fin des troubles politico-religieux qui frappent la France et le Pays Rémois au dernier tiers du xvie siècle. À la compassion pour ses contemporains, à l’occasion des tensions ligueuses particulièrement vives dans une cité toute acquise aux Guise, succède le soulagement apporté par la pacification générale de 1598. Dès lors, l’homme de métier et possesseur de vignes goûte les bienfaits de la gestion prospère des affaires, le fervent catholique se fait le témoin vigilant de la marche triomphale du catholicisme réformé, notamment de ses expériences liturgiques et musicales. Le fidèle sujet du royaume se réjouit de la réconciliation survenue entre les premiers Bourbons, la noblesse catholique et sa cité des sacres, redevenue l’ornement visible de la monarchie. Lorsque enfin les dernières années se présentent, emporté par une vague nostalgique de souvenirs personnels, il ouvre une fenêtre mémorielle passionnante sur ses vertes années.

    Beschreibung: The volume, dedicated to the 44th International Conference of the Italian Union for Drawing, investigates the theme of ‘Transitions’, which particularly effectively represents our time and the current condition of the discipline of Drawing. In fact, the disciplines of drawing have always been confronted with themes and issues relating to transitions from one condition to another.     Beschreibung: The 43rd UID conference, held in Genova, takes up the theme of ‘Dialogues’ as practice and debate on many fundamental topics in our social life, especially in these complex and not yet resolved times. The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with ‘others’, which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, “dialogue” as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title ‘translated’ into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences.

    Beschreibung: L’auteur des essais rassemblés dans la Littérature pour mémoire est un écrivain « engagé » ou « d’avant-garde », cofondateur de la revue Change en 1968, il a publié plus d’une quinzaine d’ouvrages, pour la plupart des romans. C’est donc de son expérience dont il témoigne quand il s’interroge sur un genre – « le roman, cet objet qui change » – en perpétuelle transformation. Sa réflexion, étalée sur trente ans, marque les temps forts d’un parcours de l’écriture, commencé dans le « militantisme » et l’enthousiasme des recherches formelles jusqu’à la désillusion des années post-modernes. Au cours de ces trente années ce n’est pas seulement le roman qui a changé, c’est l’idée même de littérature – et son image pour les lecteurs – qui aura été bouleversée. En effet, au cours de ces années, le roman – genre majeur – est devenu un genre mineur, dans le même temps où le pouvoir médiatique prenait le pouvoir et imposait ses choix. Ce livre est un bilan et une invitation à la résistance.

    Beschreibung: Un roi, assurément. Au royaume des auteurs de best-sellers. Un grand écrivain ? Le débat reste ouvert. A commencer, dans les œuvres même - romans et nouvelles - de Stephen King, où la figure de l’écrivain ne cesse de reparaître, comme si elle y était en somme à demeure. Demeure hantée, s’entend. Autrement dit : habitée. Mais par qui, au juste ? S’il y a péril en la demeure de King, y pénétrer, c’est aller à la rencontre sans cesse différée d’un Autre, convoqué par l’acte d’écriture, qui ne s’autorise à paraître au grand jour qu’au terme d’un accord paraphé d’une signature d’emprunt - d’un nom de plume. Mais alors, se dire écrivain, revendiquer en son nom propre des droits d’auteur, cela ne relèverait- il pas toujours un peu du vol, de l’effraction ? Est-ce à dire pour autant qu’aucune rencontre ne saurait avoir lieu, sinon sur le mode du fantasme ou de l’allégorie ? Rien n’est moins sûr. L’écrivain n’est que par l’écriture qui le fait naître. C’est pourquoi, plus (ou moins) qu’un essai sur un écrivain, il s’agirait plutôt, ici, d’un compte rendu de lecture (le premier du genre, en langue française, consacré à King) - la lecture constituant le seul lieu où la rencontre avec la réelle présence de l’écrivain peut, sinon s’effectuer, du moins s’inscrire ?

There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences.

    Beschreibung: Curiosité universitaire, car unique en France, fruit d’une utopie audacieuse qui projetait de restaurer la « chrétienté » dans le pays, pépinière de médecins et pharmaciens engagés au service de leurs contemporains et foyer actif de réflexion bioéthique, la Faculté libre de médecine et de pharmacie a été et reste encore tout cela à la fois. L’ouvrage retrace les difficultés extrêmes qu’elle a connues et surmontées depuis sa création en 1876, dans le climat des luttes religieuses de l’époque. Oppositions farouches, obstructions sournoises, indifférence, discriminations jalonnent le premier siècle de son parcours. Elle a pu se maintenir grâce à la générosité des catholiques de la région et à la foi et l’abnégation de ses enseignants. La reconnaissance de son autonomie pédagogique en 1972 lui a permis de prendre enfin sa place dans le paysage hospitalo-universitaire français. Elle essaie d’y maintenir son originalité d’institution d’Eglise, membre d’une Université catholique, tout en s’adaptant à l’évolution du monde actuel.

    Beschreibung: Sans prétendre au monopole de l’action sociale et familiale, des parlementaires syndicalistes chrétiens, membres du M.R.P., ont apporté leur contribution à la reconstruction de la France au lendemain de la Libération : le climat d’unanimité nationale a favorisé la réalisation des grandes réformes telles que les nationalisations, la création des comités d’entreprise, l’instauration de la Sécurité sociale. Robert Prigent, Louis Beugniez, Jules Catoire, Paul Bacon ne sont pas les seuls démocrates chrétiens à prendre en charge les questions familiales et sociales, l’œuvre du M.R.P. déborde largement ce domaine mais ces quatre militants ont pesé, chacun à leur manière, sur les orientations de la politique française : Louis Beugniez a occupé la fonction stratégique de président de la Commission du travail et de la sécurité sociale de 1946 à 1951, Jules Catoire a été le bras droit social de Robert Schuman lors de la délicate période de la troisième force, Robert Prigent a incarné le combat familial des républicains populaires après la Libération, Paul Bacon est présent durant neuf années au ministère du Travail et de la Sécurité sociale de 1950 à 1962. Des portraits croisés suivis de documents permettent de comprendre l’itinéraire hors du commun de ces hommes entrés en politique pour défendre des idées, des projets, avec l’innocence naïve des nouveaux venus dans la République.

    Beschreibung: Comme il y a un secret de Monte-Cristo, il y a un secret d’Alexandre Dumas. Ce secret concerne l’identité de l’écrivain, et non plus les motifs qui ont dicté le choix du nom porté par le héros. Chacun de ses écrits, de façon éminemment cryptée, remonte à une origine « nègre » rebelle - sa grand’mère était esclave -, mais fait appel aussi à une origine « blanche » conforme - son grand-père était un hobereau normand parti chercher fortune aux Îles dans le sucre et la traite -, qu’il a décidé toutes deux de revendiquer. Le présent ouvrage explore les méandres suivis à travers l’œuvre dans ce difficile jeu de bascule et met au jour ce qu’il en est de la véritable négritude d’âme et de peau assumée par Dumas. Il montre quels curieux substituts certains animaux totémiques offrent au fervent chasseur que celui-ci affiche être. Il découvre aussi par quelle « cuisine » la bête élue doit être apprêtée pour convenir au destin - au festin - symbolique qui est, de toute nécessité, le sien. Ce n’est donc pas pour rien que l’écrivain clot son œuvre par un Dictionnaire de Cuisine. Une page est un plat, et la viande esprit, si l’encre est farine.

    Beschreibung: Presque tous les romans de Claude Simon évoquent la photographie : qu’il s’agisse d’un personnage photographe dans Le Vent (1957), de clichés jaunis (L’Herbe, 1958), d’instantanés immobiles (Le Palace, 1962), de cartes postales ou d’une photographie énigmatique d’Histoire (1967), sans oublier les archives photographiques maternelles de L’Acacia... Mais chez Simon cette présence des images nourrit d’abord une réflexion sur la langue, participe à son invention formelle. Sa pratique de la « description dynamique » s’élabore dans un lien étroit à la visualité traumatique, désintégratrice de la photographie, suscitant une véritable esthétique du choc. En dialogue avec les principales théories de la photographie (Kracauer, Benjamin et Barthes) comme avec l’intertexte littéraire de Simon (Proust, notamment), Moments photographiques fait apparaître la photographie comme une figure conceptuelle majeure des nouvelles poétiques de la mémoire. Et livre, ce faisant, à travers sa lecture de l’œuvre simonienne, une contribution décisive à toute Histoire littéraire de la photographie.

In fact, the disciplines of drawing have always been confronted with themes and issues relating to transitions from one condition to another. The history of representation tells us of transformations, even epochal ones, relating to ‘drawing’, with all that such transitions entail: suffice it to think of the evolution of forms of representation, of instrumental apparatuses, of the mutability of supports, of the analogical-digital transition underway, of the new modes of communication on platforms, of the hypertrophic offer of images also on the net that confirms Guy Debord’s intuitions relating to the new spectacularisation of society. Similarly, representation triggers transitions in the prefiguration and communication of design, the anticipation and foreshadowing of future events.The challenges posed by the digital pose open questions whose scope can only be glimpsed, such as the relationship between drawing and the act of modelling, and the construction of new paradigms of visual language and communication. ‘Transitions’, almost implicitly, points to possible futures, the evolution of technique and the search for new modes of expression; at the same time, however, it can suggest silences and reflections in a process of connection between history, theory, criticism and construction.

The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with ‘others’, which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Ce manuel en propose les rudiments, aujourd’hui méconnus, insistant sur les structures conceptuelles qui les sous-tendent. Cet accent mis sur le sens devrait permettre de retrouver l’état d’esprit des écrivains et de leurs publics, et, par suite, d’accéder à une meilleure perception des textes, aussi bien littéraires que philosophiques ou historiques. Ce manuel s’adresse prioritairement aux étudiants en lettres, à qui une partie pratique présente quelques exemples d’application simple des connaissances acquises à l’analyse de textes du Moyen Âge à nos jours. Mais il pourra rendre bien des services à ceux qui étudient l’histoire, la sociologie, ainsi qu’à tous ceux qui sont concernés par l’histoire des idées. Nous espérons encore offrir aux professeurs soucieux d’enrichir ou de varier leur enseignement un moyen simple d’aborder ce point de vue essentiel, et à tout amateur cultivé, des clés pour mieux comprendre ses racines ainsi que des outils (bibliographie, index) qui le guideront dans l’approfondissement de ses connaissances.

    Beschreibung: The 43rd UID conference, held in Genova, takes up the theme of ‘Dialogues’ as practice and debate on many fundamental topics in our social life, especially in these complex and not yet resolved times. The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with ‘others’, which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, “dialogue” as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title ‘translated’ into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences.

Il s’adresse autant aux étudiants d’histoire, de sciences politiques et de philosophie qu’à un vaste public cultivé désireux de mieux comprendre à la fois certains silences des historiens et le processus qui les amène à présenter comme acquises des connaissances.

Un essai fait de patience et de passion, qui, quand il n’est pas une tentative de mise au jour d’une sorte d’inconscient visuel à l’œuvre, prend très vite les allures d’un roman familial à plusieurs voix. Où s’entrelacent les fils et ficelles de la ressemblance et de la différence, du mort et du vif, et, aussi bien, du masculin et du féminin : le fantasme de la réconciliation d’un auteur avec son image, en quelque sorte.

The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with ‘others’, which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, “dialogue” as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title ‘translated’ into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences.

Nous suivons la trace des multiples allusions aux techniques qui participent des débuts du cinéma, repérons la marque du cinéma burlesque et du cinéma surréaliste, la place de la Star et de la mythologie hollywoodienne, ainsi que la présence d'un autre versant du cinéma, celui de la pornographie.
